Update: Slipknot has now issued a statement about the situation and stated Venturella will be rejoining the band tomorrow. Read it over here.
Slipknot had to perform as an eight-piece last night after bassist Alessandro Venturella was rushed to hospital six songs into the set. A short clip of frontman Corey Taylor addressing the fans can be seen below:
"I’m gonna let you know what’s going on right now. I’m sorry to say that our bass player, Alex, had… something happened. I’m not sure what happened. He’s been put into an ambulance and he’s going to the hospital right now as we speak. But I want you all to make fucking noise for him, send him some fucking love. Now, we had a choice to come back out here. We’ve had to modify some shit, but we’re gonna keep on playing for you. It’s what we want, it’s what Alex would fucking want."

I was at the show last night - they stopped, and Corey had said that something had happened to someone backstage and they wanted to make sure they were okay. It turned out to be Alex so he asked everyone to hang on, and then when he came back out 20 minutes later he continued the show, and every so often would dedicate it to Alex. It was truly a beautiful thing to see, people coming together to show so much love for someone.

MR Singh you sound like an idiot. I was at the show and its not like they got him off stage then just continued. They were off stage with him until AND after he got taken away in the ambulance. They are performers, and they went on with the show just like Alessandro would have wanted. So until you poof your magic wand and suddenly turn into Alessandro and tell me that he strongly believes they made the wrong choice by performing, why don't you just do everyone a favor and keep your mouth shut.

LOL, Slipknot already made their money. Do you really think if they stopped the show half way through they would have given people their money back? Or even half of it? Leaving early would do nothing other than piss off a bunch of their fans. It would be the equivalent of telling a store-full of paying customers to leave and not come back. Not exactly good for business.
Besides, if the fans were p***ed it wouldn't be Slipknot they'd be trying to get their money back from anyway. And I can tell you right now it would be a cold day in hell before the promoter gave anyone back a dime.

I work in the venue in Hartford Connecticut, and I have to say that the crowd showed their love for the band in the time of worry.
