70.000 Tons of Metal: Day 3

Alright after 2 days of metal madness on board of the 70.000 Tons Of Metal cruise ship I guess everyone needed this: A relaxing day out on the beach. Early birds like me could even witness our arrival at Labadee, Haiti from the Windjammers buffet windows' awesome view, while having another delicious breakfast.
Labadee itself offered almost everything you would need for a fun-day out on the beach: Snorkelling tours, the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line (the world’s longest zip line over water), the 300 foot long Dragon’s Splash Waterslide, a kayaking tour, and many things more. Also a highlight - at least for most male metalheads: The 70K Tons Of Metal pool girls calendar photoshoot.
Refreshed and sun-burnt everyone slowly comes back to life back on board again and prepares for the night ahead:
Paradise Lost's second set on the boat, relied more on Draconian Times/Icon era material, opening with “Embers Fire”. Belting out “Hallowed Land”, “One Second”, “Faith Divides Us”, “Shadowkings”, ”Gothic”, “Pity The Sadness” the band really took no prisoners. Ultimately ending their set with “The Last Time” and leaving a more than happy fan-crowd.
Next up for me were teutonic thrash metal veterans Sodom, who reunited with guitarist Frank Blackfire fired off an almost entirely old school set: More...

Danzig And Paradise Lost At Brixton Academy
Some pairings just fit perfectly. Bread and butter, salt and vinegar and in tonight's case, Danzig and Paradise Lost. The two veterans are both celebrating thirty years of their respective bands this year and joined forced for two nights only in the United Kingdom last week, the first taking place in Glasgow and the second in London. I went along to South London's Brixton Academy, one of several venues in the country under the sponsorship of mobile phone company, 02.
Taking to the stage with "No Hope In Sight," from the 2015 album, "The Plague Within," England's own, Paradise Lost offered no frills but plenty of darkness and Gothic visions with a lively set which featured no more than one song per album represented. This included only one song, "Blood and Chaos" from their latest opus, "Medusa," along with more recent material such as the title track from 2009's, "Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us" and "The Enemy" from "In Requiem."
There was also a number of older favourites on display such as the anthemic "Ember's Fire" and the "Shades Of God" standout track, "As I Die." The quintet also brought out a cover of the Bronski Beat hit, "Small Town Boy" before finishing up with "Say Just Words" from the 1997 album, "One Second." From start to finish, Paradise Lost carried themselves with the standing of the legends they are, whilst retaining an intimate feeling throughout, resulting in a solid performance and a setlist which delighted fans. Paradise Lost To Re-Release, "Believe In Nothing"
Gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost has announced that, following quickly on from the re-release of their 1999 album, "Host," Nuclear Blast will be re-releasing the 2001 album, "Believe In Nothing." The album will be remixed and remastered and include new artwork, which you can see below. The band has also posted a lyric video for the song, "Mouth," which received the music video treatment in the initial promotion for the album, which can also be seen below.
Vocalist Nick Holmes stated: "It's no secret that we were never entirely happy with the production on this record, despite really liking the songs. It's been a long time coming, but we finally found the right moment to go back into the studio with Gomez (Orgone Studios) and play around with it. We hope you all enjoy the remixed version so you can hear how the songs were meant to sound." More...
Paradise Lost To Re-Release "Host"
British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost has announced that their 1999 album, "Host" will be remastered and re-released through Nuclear Blast Records on March 16th. The album will be available as digipack and in three different vinyl colours (black, clear and mint) for the first time ever.
Speaking about the album, vocalist Nick Holmes stated: "With the 'Host' album we wanted to take the 'One Second' concept further and make a very dark album with even more subtlety. It was a bold leap from all our previous albums, a leap too far some would say, but for me, the new remastered version really shows it's still one of the bands strongest albums in terms of song writing, atmosphere and sheer misery."
