Evanescence May Collaborate With Wes Borland
EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee has confirmed that the band are contemplating the possibility of working with former LIMP BIZKIT guitarist Wes Borland on the follow-up to the triple-platinum "Fallen", tentatively due in 2005 through Wind-Up Records. "Wes is a friend and we're talking about writing together on the next record," Lee told Australia's The Age. "But we'll see."
2003 ended on a sour note for EVANESCENCE when founding member and Lee's co-writer Ben Moody abruptly left the band in October, mid-way through a European tour. More...
Evanescence Looks To The Future, Next Album
Christie Eliezer of Australia's Beat magazine spoke with Evanescence singer Amy Lee about the band's next album, which will see the group trying to bounce back from the surprise departure of guitarist Ben Moody, who has since been replaced, for now anyways, with Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo. Former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland who worked with Lee on the soundtrack to 'Underworld' is keen to produce some tracks. "I'm open to all kinds of ideas at the moment," she said. "I listen back to 'Fallen' and realize we could have done so much more. Let's see what happens as the songs emerge. Wes and I talked recently. He's a good writer." Asked about the lyrical direction she's headed in, Lee said, "Everything. I've had so much building up - I've grown up so much in the last year - that all these things are flowing out. A lot of what's happened starts to make sense when you put it into context of a song. Right now, I avoid reading magazines because the media's really slamming me. You learn not to feel guilty and just be yourself."

Evanescence Singer Discusses Moody's Departure
Evanescence appeared on MuchMusic on Sunday (December 14) where singer Amy Lee was asked why her former best friend and founding member Ben Moody left the group. "I don't know. I would like to ask him," Lee said. "He changed his number. But it gets to a point sometimes, in this situation very early on, that your heart isn't in it, and when your heart isn't in something, it messes it up for all of you. All of us, including Ben, are happier now. Thank you." She expanded on the two not speaking yet saying, "I don't know what to say. 'Hey, dude, what's up?' I don't know. We'll talk eventually. I think we ended up at one of the same after-parties at an awards ceremony, but I didn't see him." As for the mystery surrounding the whole situation, Lee says, "You have to be there to understand. It's one of those things where we were in a bad situation, kind of like perpetually, and it was kind of an ongoing negative vibe and something had to give, and it did."

Seether's Morgan And Evanescence's Lee Together
SEETHER singer and guitarist Shaun Morgan recently strolled down the red carpet at the American Music Awards with his girlfriend, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee, in full view of the media. Morgan told Launch why they took that stroll. "It was intended to lay some rumors to rest that involved Amy and I, 'cause we've been together now for about six months, and we wanted to lay all the rumors to rest and say, 'Look, here we go, we are together.' It was never a secret, but I was involved in a divorce which had taken a long time to resolve, and it was just something that we had to wait before we could let everyone know about."
Morgan says he hopes to have Amy and SEVENDUST frontman Lajon Witherspoon sing on the next SEETHER album, which is due out in the spring or summer of 2004.
SEETHER will continue touring in the U.S. until December 21. After a holiday break, they'll do a two-week tour of their homeland, South Africa, then settle down to make their second album.
