Insomnium Enter The Studio

Finnish metallers Insomnium has entered the Fantom Studio to begin recording their third album. The songs which are to be recorded include such dreary titles as “At the Gates of Sleep”, “The Mortal Share”, “Drawn to Black” and “The Killjoy”. The new material is clearly more aggressive, punchy and tighter than the previous album but the melancholic mood, wistful melodies, doomish passages and progressive twists are still present. “For sure this is going to be our greatest effort so far”, tells vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen. “This will be a very versatile album and each song will be full of nuances. There is fury and there is sorrow. Scandinavian melodic death metal at its finest!”

You can view the progress online in the Insomnium studio diary.

Insomnium’s third album will be released in autumn 2006 by Candlelight Records.

Some crystal clear and yet brutal sounds are to be expected since Fantom is the name behind some of the best albums ever produced in Finland. The songs which are to be recorded include such dreary titles as “At the Gates of Sleep”, “The Mortal Share”, “Drawn to Black” and “The Killjoy.” The new material is clearly more aggressive, punchy and tighter than the previous album but the melancholic mood, wistful melodies, doomish passages and progressive twists are still present. “For sure this is going to be our greatest effort so far,” tells vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen. “This will be a very versatile album and each song will be full of nuances. But we promise that it will serve you all the old tricks mixed with some new elements, twists and turns. Time will tell, hope you can wait until then. Insomnium Working On New Material

Finnish melodic death metallers Insomnium have posted this message on their official website:

Writing of Insomnium's 3rd album is progressing slowly but surely. We had been without training place for almost year since last spring when we were kicked out from our previous one because of breaking down the whole building. Luckily we managed to get us a new and absolutely better one few weeks ago and rehearsing will be much easier for now on. We held also proper rehearsals together for the long time and actually composed a brand new song spontaneously which turned out something different for us. There will be some gigs in the summer but nothing sure yet. We will inform from them later. Shirts are unfortunately and unforgivably late because of the unbelievable slow shipping procedures. They come sale as soon as we get them.

Insomnium Confirm US Release Date For New Album

Candlelight Records has confirmed May 4th as the US release date for the new album from Finland's Melodic Death metallers INSOMNIUM. "Since The Day It All Came Down" is the second full-length album from the band.

Recorded at Media Works Studios and mastered at Finnvox Studios, Since The Day It All Came Down contains the same solid songwriting, impeccable musicianship and inventiveness that made the band's 2002 debut, In The Halls Of Awaiting, a success. Vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevanen comments, "This album contains music that is maybe more difficult to define. The foundation is still the melodic Scandinavian death metal, but there are very different kind of moods on the album. Progressive shades have taken a larger part in the new sound. This is a heavier and gloomier album than the first one, and surely more challenging."

"Since The Day It All Came Down" has the following tracklisting: More...
