Prosthetic Records To Re-Release The Funeral Pyre
Prosthetic Records will re-release the latest full-length from Los Angeles' THE FUNERAL PYRE in a licensing deal for worldwide re-release March 20, 2007 through a deal with Bay Area indie label Creator-Destructor Records. Originally released last year through Bay Area label Creator-Destructor Records, the band has been garnering praise through non-stop touring. Channeling melodic death metal and Norwegian black metal alike, THE FUNERAL PYRE takes on the two legendary genres in what has to be billed as a welcome addition to LA’s crowded extreme music scene. Locking in over 100 shows throughout 2006 alone in support of the band’s second full-length, the band cites At The Gates, Shai Hulud, Dissection and Emperor as influences on the band's MySpace page. Having recently returning from a five week tour through November and December, THE FUNERAL PYRE will return to the road in March, but not before playing shows in Southern California on their own.
Jed Simon Updates on Side Project 'Tenet'
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD guitarist Jed Simon has issued the following announced regarding his TENET project:
"It's announcement time! There are some new faces in the TENET camp. It's my pleasure to introduce them.
"I welcome to the fold Adrian Erlandsson on drums.
"Adrian, as many of you may know, had spent the last seven years with CRADLE OF FILTH. Previous to that he was on the first THE HAUNTED album, 'The Haunted'... Fuck, I love that album, and of course, he played in the mighty, legendary, AT THE GATES.
"Adrian brings an enthusiasm to the table that is infectious. I respect his talent greatly, and after hearing what he has done with some of the demo tracks, I'm beyond excited. Perhaps we'll put some of the demo stuff up with him playing soon, although I may just save it for the album, hehe.
"Of course, you are now wondering why Gene [Hoglan; STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, ex-DARK ANGEL, DEATH] is not playing. I felt that after 10+ years in THE LAD it was time for a fresh start. And to be honest, I really needed to just 'step away' for a bit, and do something completely on my own. None of this reflects on my and Gene's relationship as friends... we will always be thick as thieves. Silly, pranking, metal-loving thieves. He IS my brother for life, as are the other SYL cats. That's about the best way I can explain it without getting too long-winded. OK? OK! More...

Disfear Making Progress On New Album
DISFEAR, the Swedish "crust rock" outfit featuring former AT THE GATES/THE CROWN vocalist Tomas Lindberg and ex-ENTOMBED guitarist Uffe Cederlund, have posted the following message on their official web site:
"Dear friends. We finally have some news from you. Last month we moved to a new rehearsal room and this change has meant a huge boost in inspiration for us. We have started rehearsing big time and some new songtitles for the upcoming album are 'Phantom', 'Sharpen the Knives', 'One-Way Communication', 'Deadweight' and 'The Furnace'. These are still working titles and they may change. There might be a chance we will hit the Swedish road for a couple of dates to try some of this new stuff out, but more on this soon."
DISFEAR's follow-up to 2003's "Misanthropic Generation" is expected to surface next year via Relapse Records.
Band Members Refute Carcass, At The Gates Rumors
THE HAUNTED bassist Jonas Björler refuted the rumor that his former band AT THE GATES may be reuniting for a possible tour. In an e-mail sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Björler said, "Just wanted to tell you that the rumours about the AT THE GATES reunion are untrue."
Former CARCASS frontman Jeff Walker also refuted the rumor that the Liverpool gore-grind pioneers may be reuniting for a possible tour. In an e-mail sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Walker said, "For the record, Bill Steer wasn't even at the Metal Hammer awards and I didn't speak to Adrian that night! I'd find the whole matter hilarious if it wasn't for the fact that the rumor is probably gonna put a few people's noses out of joint..."
A June 22, 2005 posting on the Earache Records-affiliated web site www.metaltracks.com indicated that Walker, along with former CARCASS guitarist Bill Steer and ex-AT THE GATES drummer Adrian Erlandsson, hinted at the recent Metal Hammer Awards in London that the two bands are considering reforming and going on tour together in the near future.
Carcass and At The Gates To Reform and Tour?
Strong rumours gathered from the mouths of Jeff Walker & Bill Steer of Liverpool gore grind superstars Carcass and Adrian Erlandsson, drummer of Swedish melodic death metal band At The Gates at the recent Metal Hammer Awards in London suggest that both bands are considering reforming and going on tour together in the near future.

Dolving Doesn't Rule Out At The Gates Reunion
THE HAUNTED frontman Peter Dolving recently spoke to the Fourteen G E-zine about the group's new album, "rEVOLVEr", the music business and the possibility of an AT THE GATES reunion (the much-missed pre-THE HAUNTED outfit that is considered to be among Sweden's most influential extreme metal acts). A couple of excerpts from the interview follow:
Fourteen G: When do you think an AT THE GATES reunion will occur?
Peter Dolving: "I think it's not impossible, they were talking about doing something like a one show [gig] in London but it still needs to be worked out. I think the initiative has to come from outside; someone else has to take the initiative for them. It would take a sound financial situation to make it whole!
Fourteen G: Coming from thee latest hotbed of death metal, how is the scene evolving in Sweden?
Peter Dolving: "In a way, it's a really hard question. Musically I think it's getting a lot more technical and for a while there. There were a lot of bands that were being inspired by bands like AT THE GATES and THE HAUNTED and a lot of them were going in that direction of sound or looking for that same kind of energy. But I think finally that it's occurring to a lot of those kids that it's more about trying to find your own expression, you know. The originality level is really going up actually. Getting more weird stuff, I don't know if that's directly better. In the long run, yeah, it's better because it will spur people to do something they might not have done before."
