Destruction's Greek Shows Cancelled
A Greek concert promoter has hit back at German thrashers Destruction over their claim that the group's previously announced shows in Greece were cancelled due to a "lack of communication between promoter and agency."
A statement issued by Destruction's booking agency, A.S.S./ Dragon Productions, had blamed the cancellation of the concerts — which were scheduled to take place January 8-9, 2005 — on a "lack of communication between promoter and agency. . . The promoter wanted to cancel [projected openers] Evergrey without giving a reason, he didn't come back to us on urgent details like flights for example. This and more forces us to lay down this sad decision. Both bands will come back to Greece at a later point in time. The bands apologize for this uncomfortable situation and will surley return to Greece next year!"
Responding to the above statement, Greece's premier concert promotion agency Astra Productions have issued the following press release:
"Astra, the promoter of the cancelled show of Destruction, which had been scheduled to take place at Gagarin Live Music Space, in Athens, Greece, on Sunday, 9th of January, 2005, would like to inform the public, as well as all parties involved, that the show has been cancelled due to sudden, excessive demands made by the group, which weren't included in the initial agreement. Therefore, the promoter had no other choice but to cancel the show".
Destruction To Enter Studio In January
Due to the fact that their current record label negotiations have taken longer than expected, German thrashers DESTRUCTION have postponed the projected release date of their new album to late summer 2005. "But the new label will be announced in the next weeks, latest at beginning of the next year," the group's bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer said in a posting on the band's web site.
DESTRUCTION have finished writing two-thirds of the material for the upcoming CD and are planning on entering the studio in January/February 2005. No further details about the upcoming recording sessions have been made available.
DESTRUCTION's most recent album, "Metal Discharge", was released in September 2003 through Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2001's "The Antichrist" was the first DESTRUCTION album to feature drummer Marc Reign, who replaced Sven Vormann in 2001.

Arch Enemy - Wacken Open Air 2004 In Review
Arch Enemy singer Angel Gossow has issued the following message to the fans at this year’s Wacken Open Air on the band’s official website http://www.archenemy.net:
“Cheers,
Just wanna drop a few words about Wacken, cuz it was absolutely fantastic for us! A big HELLO and THANK YOU goes out to all the people who have been waiting patiently for us to perform there: We finally made it to this crazy festival! And yes, it was worth the long van-ride down from Sweden! We not only had a fantastic, wild crowd when we played, we were also amazed and shocked by the amount of fans hanging out at the signing tent! Sorry to all those who couldn’t get their stuff signed, but we only had 45 minutes and had to leave on time – the next band was already there waiting for their turn..
We had a packed promo schedule that day, meeting and greeting a hell lot of cool people! I did a metal quiz with the great lady of rock, Mrs. Doro Pesch, met the guys from Hobbs Angel Of Death (cult!), chatted and laughed with Sabina Classen and talked to various members of Destruction, Marduk, Warlock, Hypocrisy, etc.. It takes me about one week to handle all the impressions I got during this lovely sunny Friday at Wacken!
Love, Angela”
Live pictures of Arch Enemy’s performance, and those of other bands at the festival, can be found at this location.

Destruction Prepare DVD
Schmier, the singer of Germany’s legendary Thrash Metal trio, DESTRUCTION, recently talked about the band’s new live DVD “Live Discharge - 20 Years Of Total Destruction":
“This DVD features DESTRUCTION material from all eras including myself on vocals. We did try to catch that energy of a thrash show rather than just recording the most perfect, clean and flawless concert.”
Beside a large live section with concerts filmed at Wacken Open Air, With Full Force and the Metal Days at the Swiss club Z7 the DVD also contains a lot of bonus material in the form of backstage and extra footage, interviews, two video clips ( ‘Desecrators Of The New Age’ and ‘The Ravenous Beast’) and a detailed band history among other things. Together with the backstage and 'on the road' footage you will get a nice extra look behind the curtain of a DESTRUCTION show.
