Rockstar Mayhem Tour Cancels Sacremento Show
The promoters of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem tour have posted the following message:
"Due to Northern California wild-fires, July 11th (Sacramento) Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Performance Rescheduled to Monday July 14th
"Concerned for the health and safety of our patrons, performers and employees, Live Nation announces a date change for Sacramento's scheduled Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival at The Sleep Train Amphitheater. The air quality and temperature are expected to improve by end of weekend, allowing for the event to be moved to Monday, July 14th and show time will remain 1:30pm. Tickets purchased for Friday, July 11th will be honored.
"As we enter the second week of wild fires, and the recent 100+ degree temperatures, it is in the best interest of all involved that the tour date be rescheduled as conditions are expected to improve over the weekend. A variety of city and county officials have urged area residents to avoid long-term exposure to the outdoors and limit outdoor recreational activities."
"We sincerely regret this unavoidable cancellation and apologize to fans for any disappointment caused," says tour co-founder John Reese. "And while we're thankful that the show can take place on Monday, our thoughts are with the families in this area during this difficult time. Refunds will be available at original point of purchase." Metallica Covers Iron Maiden For Kerrang Tribute
Metallica has revealed that they recorded a cover of Iron Maiden's "Remember Tomorrow," off the band's self-titled debut album. Here's the update from Metallica'a MySpace blog:
"We were honored to be asked to participate in Kerrang's exclusive 'Maiden Heaven' tribute album... one of those super cool Kerrang! CD's that you can only get when you buy the mag. In this case, the issue (1219) goes on sale in the UK on July 16 and for those of you somewhere else, you can pick it up online at http://www.kerrang.com.
"We picked 'Remember Tomorrow' from Iron Maiden's self titled first album... it was basically the blueprint for songs like 'Fade to Black' and 'Sanitarium' and when we were jamming our way thru most of our favorite early Maiden songs, this one stood out and also came together somewhat effortlessly... we had a blast recording it at HQ in the middle of all the insanity of the last two weeks of finishing the new album back in May. Some of our other favorite bands recorded their own versions of Maiden songs too... Machine Head, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed And Cambria, Dream Theater to name a few. There are more details in the current issue of Kerrang! or on their site... or check out the "official" press release here.

Black Tide Records Metallica Cover For Debut
Teenage thrash band Black Tide have announced February 26 as the release date for their debut album, "Light From Above," which includes "Shout," "Black Abyss" and a cover of Metallica's "Hit the Lights." The disc was produced by Johnny K (Finger Eleven, Kill Hannah) at Groovemaster Recording in Chicago.
Black Tide To Release Debut Album In February
Miami rockers BLACK TIDE have announced a February 26th release date for their debut album, Light From Above. The album will be released on Interscope Records. Black Tide recorded the album at Chicago’s Groovemaster Studios, with Johnny K (DISTURBED, MACHINE HEAD, SOIL) producing.
An excerpt from a press reads as follows: "Black Tide’s music draws from the best hard rock and thrash from the '80s, while giving it a 21st century kick up the ass. 'Shockwave', the band’s calling card and the album’s opening track, is an utter classic - all bloody-knuckled thrash riffs, squealing guitars, rampaging drums, in-your-face vocals and an instantly memorable chorus.
The rest of Light From Above is up to the same impressive standard; anthemic, take-no-prisoners tracks like 'Shout', 'Black Abyss', 'Let Me', 'Live Fast Die Young', the MAIDEN-esque 'Warriors Of Time' and their spot-on cover of METALLICA’s 'Hit The Lights' will punch any metal fan squarely in their pleasure centers."
