Seventh Seal Issues Road Report

Justin from Seventh Seal has issued an update from the road:

"Just wanted to give everyone an update....so far the tour is going great!! I'm sitting in a hotel parking lot stealing wifi in Rhode Island...thought that would be a good time to post an update!

"Right as we were getting ready to leave the van wouldn't start after we were fully loaded and ready to head to New York City!! We had to take off the trailer and have it towed for an emergency fix at some shop in Maryland. Turns out the rotating flux injector was broken...or something like that. They had one in stock, but it wasn't the right one, so the guy still managed to rig it and install it for us on the fly and we were off. We made it too our NYC gig with 5 minutes to spare...it was crazy!!! The show was awesome though...

"Getting ready to play KC's Tap tonight in Pawtucket Rhode Island. We'll be posting some pictures and video just as soon as we can so stay posted!"

Seventh Seal is currenlty on an East coast mini-tour. Here are all of their currently planned tour dates from their MySpace page, however: More...

Seventh Seal Announces New Drummer

Baltimore-area metal band Seventh Seal has announced Jim Martin as their new drummer. Commenting on the drummer situation, Justin posted the following:

"We've had our eye on him for quite some time, he absolutely WAILS on the kit! You will not believe it when you see him live!! Thanks to EVERYONE that came and tried out, there were a lot of really cool guys that we met along the way. We've been auditioning for quite some time as you all know, we didn't want to rush our decision. Bringing in a new person is like adding a brother to your family and since you can pick and choose instead of just being born into a family with no option, you gotta make sure you pick the right one!!! We also would like to give a HUUUUUUGE thanks to Mark Mathias for filling in all this time on the kit for our live shows and our last studio trek. Now he can finally get back to whooping people's asses behind the scenes for Seventh Seal!! :) Mark, as you all may or may not know, has done all the drums on all 3 Seventh Seal albums as well as a ton of management stuff for the band. When we lost our old drummer he jumped in without question until we found the new one so we could continue the bands progression without having to wait. So again, THANKS MARK!!!!! Come check out our last two shows with Mark on drums at Angels and Ramshead this week, it's going to be INSANE!!!! Then be sure to come check out our first show with JIM "I PREFER PLASTIC ON MY BURGER" MARTIN at Dakota's in Chambersburg on April 26th, it's going to be off the walls in that place!"

Seventh Seal is planning to tour extensively this year, including a small tour into New England beginning the last week of May and into June. The band is finalizing dates for that run and will be announcing the dates for their "As Lives Of One" fall tour, which will see them hit the entire east coast during the month of October.

Hard Volume Signs Two Bands, Getting Storefront

Hard Volume Records has signed two more bands to the label that owner Joe Natoli describes as "absolutely f**king jaw-dropping amazing." They are rock band Dead Men Sway and metal band Rest Among Ruins.

In other label news, Hard Volume has also signed a distro deal with Seventh Seal to sell their debut album and latest EP. Additionally, Compression's "Battle of the Ants" 2CD set (limited edition packaging, video extras and more) will be out this Fall.

Other label news includes talks with a large metal mailorder, a deal with Sonic/BeNeLux to carry all Hard Volume bands overseas (Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg) and a Hard Volume storefront in downtown Baltimore's new Lo-Fi Social Club. Hard Volume is expected to be there in force for the club's grand opening (stay tuned for details).

Forwardhead Takes The Next Step w/ Pieces Release

Now that Forwardhead has announced the first batch of their headlining tour dates, I am officially late on this show report. On Saturday, May 26, over Memorial Day Weekend, I made my second trip to Baltimore's excellent Ram's Head Live, this time to catch the Metalunderground.com-sponsored Forwardhead CD release party. The bill sported five local bands playing a show in celebration of Forwardhead's long-awaited album "Pieces" being released. The all-ages show was to feature a screening of their first video as well.

I entered just as the first band, Phantom Communique was taking the stage. The crowd was a decent size - somewhere upwards of 200 people I'd estimate - which worked well for the Ram's Head Live's configuration. The balcony areas were closed off, as the main floor (that I consider small for a sold out show) was sufficient for a crowd this size. The venue seemed ideal for a smaller crowd like this and the show had a feel somewhat more professional than a local show, but more laid back than a bigger concert. More...

Metalunderground.com Sponsors Forwardhead Tour

Metalunderground.com has signed on as a sponsor of local Parkville, Maryland alternative metal band Forwardhead’s release party concert and forthcoming worldwide tour.

Hard Volume recording artist Forwardhead, often compared to Tool both for their vocals and bass-heavy and sometimes spacey sound, recently released their debut full-length album "Pieces" on May 1, 2007.

The all-ages release party event will take place on May 26, 2007 at the Ram's Head Live in Baltimore, MD. Special guests for the event include Blind Rhetoric, Forgotten, Seventh Seal and Tommyhate. Forwardhead's new video for their first single, "Second Guess," will also be premiered at the show and every $15 ticket includes a free copy of the new release "Pieces," making this show one that fans of heavy music should not miss.

Hard Volume label owner Joe Natoli is vehement about the importance of the release party show on May 26: “This gig is our chance to show the naysayers that the only thing that truly matters is the music. It's an opportunity to prove that size is irrelevant, that the independent labels and musicians bring something to the table that's as good as (or better) than what the mainstream shoves down our throats every day.”

The show will be the first show of the 2007-2008 "Taking Back the Suffering" world tour, which will see the band tour North America, Canada, the Netherlands and several other countries. The tour is still being booked and tour dates will be announced at a future date.

Metalunderground.com founder Doug Gibson commented on the sponsorship arrangement, “Supporting local bands is one of the best ways to support underground metal and Hard Volume has a number of quality metal bands from our area on their roster. Furthermore, Forwardhead has the potential to break through with their debut release and one of the most rewarding parts of doing what I do is seeing underground bands ‘make it’ and become successful.”
