The Agonist Singer Speaks On Songwriting
THE AGONIST vocalist Alissa White-Gluz has issued the following update in the wake of her invitation to the fans to submit song ideas for the band's next album:
"Hey everyone,
I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who wrote in and told me about what's on their mind. I was extremely touched that so many of you opened up completely and took the time to share personal thoughts with me. I got so many that it has taken me quite some time to read through them all, and I have chosen a few that I really think I can work with. I will be in contact with the minds behind those this week.
I specified that I did not want actual songs, just ideas, because when it comes down to it I need to sing my own words, but I still appreciate those of you who showed me your material!
So, once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart, you really keep me going!"

The Agonist Cancel Enslaved Dates
Alissa White-Gluz, vocalist for THE AGONIST out of Montreal, has checked in with the following update:
"So, after desperately trying to make our way through a blizzard's Rocky Mountain terrain to get to our Oregon show and continue the ENSLAVED tour... we found ourselves stranded in a ditch, with the trailer upside down on it's nose. Yes, we crashed trying to get to a show... but nobody was hurt at all. Our vehicle however, a different story.
Long story short, our gear got wrecked, then the van short-fused, we nearly killed a deer (poor thing! I'm still hyper-ventilating), the wipers broke and we got a flat tire on the trailer while attempting to drive our newly mutated van and trailer combo. Then, I found out that I had yet another family member to bury, the third one since the beginning of tour. I now have missed three funerals in total between the Sonata and Enslaved tours...and given the string of bad luck we decided to cut our losses and head home.
So, we apologize greatly for missing those of you on the West coast and through the lower States, we were looking forward to new fans as well as familiar faces... but we will be back there soon with tons of new material to play... so until then ... rock on and keep in touch!!"

The Agonist Shoots First Metal Video
Canadian metal outfit The Agonist recently shot their first music video for the song “Business Suits and Combat Boots” off the upcoming album “Once Only Imagined”, slated for an August 28th release on Century Media. The video was filmed by acclaimed director David Brodsky (Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, God Forbid) and his crew at MyGoodEye.
Here’s what guitar player Danny Marino had to say about the experience:
“Our first music video was one of the most physically demanding experiences of our lives but after seeing the results we knew it was worth every drop of sweat. Dave and Allie fuckin rock, we're really proud of the video and we can't wait till everyone gets a chance to see it."
The Agonist will be hitting the road in the U.S. in June with God Forbid, followed by tours with Sonata Artica, as well as Overkill and Enslaved rounding out 2007.

The Agonist Sign Worldwide Deal With Century Media
Century Media announce the signing of montreal's The Agonist:
It is extremely rare to find an up-and-coming metal band taking strong political stands, much less one that’s led by a dominating, beautiful, edgy female. But it is exactly this unique dynamic that led Century Media Records to sign Montreal’s THE AGONIST (formerly The Tempest) to a worldwide deal. This quartet delivers introspective, scathing lyrics, and their debut album Once Only Imagined, which is set for a summer release, will definitely catch people’s attention.
Vocalist Alissa White-Gluz’s vegan roots fuel her need to promote the protection of the planet and its inhabitants, and she does so through this outlet. Along with guitarist Danny Marino, bassist Chris Kells and drummer Simon McKay, each member brings their own rich musical backgrounds to the table, creating the perfect expression of melody and madness. Make no mistake, this is a straight-up metal band that holds nothing back with one goal in mind: to make music that is as catchy as it is heavy; as sweet as it is loud; and as angry as it is melancholy. Be sure to visit www.myspace.com/theagonist for new photos and new tracks. A new track, “Rise and Fall,” also appears on Century Media’s free spring sampler.
Alissa states: “We were definitely intrigued when Century Media took notice, simply by chance, after hearing a few unmastered tracks of ours. This partnership with Century gives us the platform to say what we need to say and do what we need to do, and that is promote and educate the public on some fundamental causes that are quickly being forgotten, voiced through provoking music that carries the message home.” More...
