Between The Buried And Me Prepare New Album
Between The Buried And Me are currently finishing up the writing process for their next album, the title of which has yet to be solidified. According to the band, "the songs are sounding killer and we can't wait to unleash them on everyone." BTBAM will be in the studio with Jamie King in North Carolina in May/June recording the effort, with Matthew Ellard (Weezer, Converge) then slated to mix the material in Massachusetts. The record will hit stores later this year through Victory Records.
Between The Buried And Me Side Project
Thomas Rogers, frontman for Between The Buried And Me, has started an electronic project, called Giles (Rogers' middle name). Victory Records will release his new self-titled album, which was recorded and mixed by Jamie King, on April 19th. Here's how the label describes the material:
"Giles is an amalgamation of Tommy's love for electronic music and desire to do something creative and fresh. Giles can be described as a combination of electroclash and industrial music written with a metal mindset. Tommy wrote the self-titled debut album as he would?ve written songs for Between The Buried And Me, except this time, he wrote and programmed them on a keyboard. Giles sounds like a hodgepodge of Fischerspooner meets Diesel Boy meets Mike Patton."

Meanwhile, the band recently began writing their next full-length for Victory Records. They plan to demo a new song, entitled "Alaska," in early February.

"Metalcore" Explodes From The Buried
Bands experimenting with or utilizing multiple genres is nothing new in popular music, but the North Carolina ensemble Between The Buried and Me does blend two styles not commonly considered compatible. The five-member group, who play tonight at the Blue Sky Court, call their sound "metalcore," a surging, sonically powerful combination of heavy metal and hardcore.
Vocalist and keyboardist Tommy Rogers acknowledges that this isn't exactly an everyday occurrence on the music front, but said that linking these two approaches hasn't proven that difficult.
"Part of it comes from the fact that everyone in the band has been very influenced by both heavy metal and hardcore groups," Rogers said. "When I sit down to write along with (guitarist) Paul (Waggoner) we don't consciously think OK, we've got to have so much heavy metal in the licks or so much hardcore in the arrangement. We have to make sure that in the songs the transitions make sense, and the songs really flow rather than just becoming extreme. But I think there's more similarity between heavy metal and hardcore and easier to write songs using these than doing a song with a heavy metal foundation and then trying to put a jazz part in the middle."

Between The Buried And Me Drummer Quits
BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME has updated their official site with the following message:
"Hello all... we have lots of news at this moment. First off, we finally found a guitarist. Secondly, we lost our drummer Mark Castillo because we weren't "fun" enough for him to stay in the band. So once again we are looking for a new full time drummer. Please email betweentheburied@hotmail.com if you want to tryout. You need to be very motivated and willing to dedicate your life to our band. Serious musicians only... we're tired of flakes honestly. We are still planning to tour constantly when we get this lineup situation figured out. Sorry to those wanting to see us live on the 10th of january in charlotte, nc... we had to cancel to due to this problem. We'll be back soon, we promise."
