Estradasphere Offers Update on Upcoming Projects

Seattle's ESTRADASPHERE have provided the following update on their upcoming projects for 2008 and beyond.

"The post-Palace of Mirrors psychic explosion that Estradasphere has endured is frying all manners of new synapses...

"While the band as a whole will maintain a low profile for the next several months (during bass player/producer Tim Smolens' adaptation to fatherhood), there will be ample opportunity throughout the US and Europe to see smaller-format versions of Estradasphere featuring various combinations of the members, as well as the members' other current projects, including Timb and Jason's outings with the Secret Chiefs 3, Jason's upcoming solo album ‘The Orange Tulip Conspiracy’, and Timb's new trio with Gyan Riley and Scott Amendola.

"Meanwhile, Estradasphere has just wrapped up some fruitful work in the studio with Amander Palmer (Dresden Dolls). After stumbling upon the band at a gig in her hometown of Boston in 2007, Amanda immediately proposed that she and the band do a project together. Tim, Timb, and Jason spent several months arranging and recording several of her tunes, which are now sitting on the pad waiting to be launched. In the meantime, Amanda will appear with Estradasphere this summer at the Rothbury Music Festival. Keep an eye out for future live and studio collaborations between these strange bedfellows..."

The band released "Palace of Mirrors" for THE END RECORDS in 2006 and the accompanying DVD "Palace of Mirrors Live" last fall.

The End Records Signs Estradasphere

Santa Cruz, California's eclectic and unclassifiable musical group Estradasphere has signed with The End Records. The band will release their fourth album - and debut for The End Records - titled "Palace of Mirrors," on September 19th, 2006.

About the signing with The End Records, bassist Tim Smolens comments: "We're very excited to be a part of The End Records' lineup. We are appreciative that The End had the vision to take on an unclassifiable act like ourselves. We've had a wonderful experience in all of our efforts with our previous label, Mimicry, and we hold them and Mr. Spruance in the highest regard."

"The new album by Estradasphere distills the elements in the group that are clearly the strongest, while trimming the fat of our previous efforts," he says of their forthcoming release. "Expect to hear Romanian gypsy death metal, heavy doses of 60's foreign cinema rock, expansive orchestrations, progressive spaghetti easterns, no lead vocals, and even an automated calliope band that can be struck up for just a quarter. The new album embodies everything that is unique and wonderful about this band."

"Although Estradasphere is known for its instrumental prowess, the band takes a stand against the poor taste that characterizes most 'progressive' music. They are clearly more concerned with the aesthetic of the sounds they use than how many gazillion notes-per-second they can play; if you're looking for Mullet Prog Rock, look somewhere else. If Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is Rock against Rock, Estradasphere is Prog against Prog."

Upon release of "Palace of Mirrors," the band will start a full-blown tour of North America.
