Vision Of Disorder MiniSet During Bloodsimple Show

BLOODSIMPLE's September 24 concert at Club Voltage in Levittown, New York included a short reunion set by VISION OF DISORDER (V.O.D.), the legendary New York hardcore band which featured in its ranks current BLOODSIMPLE singer Tim Williams and guitarist Mike Kennedy. Opening the show was KARNOV, whose lineup includes two other former VISION OF DISORDER members, drummer Brendon Cohen and bassist-turned-guitarist Mike Fleischmann.

In a Billboard.com review of the show, music journalist Greg Prato writes, "Sounding amazingly tight and heavy, despite not having played a show together in four years, V.O.D. cranked out a short-but-sweet three song set, including 'Choke', 'Element', and 'D.T.O.' Unfortunately, unless you were right up front (and good luck attempting that without taking a boot to the head), you couldn't get a good view of the band, thanks to the constant presence of three burly bouncers who stood on the front of the stage throughout. Despite mass chanting of 'V.O.D., V.O.D.,' the band was off the stage in what seemed like a flash."

Writing to BLOODSIMPLE's official MySpace.com page, Williams said about the concert, "For all those unlucky enough to miss this, you fucked up!!! This was the best BLOODSIMPLE show to date in Long Island!! Thanks to all the fans for making it amazing... V.O.D. was just as fun!! Thanks again to all the kids."

Another Ozzfest Second Stage "Mystery Band" Slot

Ozzfest.com has added a second "mystery band" slot to the lineup of acts performing on the Hot Topic second stage at this year's travelling festival. BLOODSIMPLE, the New York-based band featuring former members of VISION OF DISORDER, DOWNSET and MEDICATION, are a favorite to fill one of the slots. There is no word yet on which act the second slot will go to.

Earlier this week, Ozzfest organizers announced that VELVET REVOLVER will be taking over for IRON MAIDEN as one of Ozzfest's main attractions when this year's traveling festival hits Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 23; IRON MAIDEN will be no-shows for the last seven dates of this summer's Ozzfest because of previous touring commitments they'd made overseas.

Roadrunner Celebrates 25 Year With All-Stars Album

Roadrunner Records is in the process of putting together a groundbreaking record to mark the label's 25th Anniversary. Tentatively titled "Roadrunner All-Stars", the full length release, a 'master-class' in hard rock, will contain original tracks that are collaborations between past and present Roadrunner stars.

Four central musicians will be chosen to produce and write all the songs. Those chosen thus far are Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria) and Robert Flynn (Machine Head). The fourth writer/producer is yet to be named. These four musicians will not only play on the songs they have written but also assemble a unique team of artists to appear on each track. In order to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, no musician will play for more than one writer/producer and each song will feature a different vocalist.

Musicians who have already recorded for this project are Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Paul Gray (Slipknot), Roy Mayorga (ex-Soulfly), Logan Mader (ex-Machine Head), Marcelo Dias (ex-Soulfly), Dave McClain (Machine Head), Nadja Peulen (ex-Coal Chamber) and Mike Sarkisyan (Spineshank).
