Soul Enema Casts Out Into "Aral Sea II"

Israeli progressive metal act Soul Enema issued a new music video for the song "Ara Sea II," which features a guest appearance by ex-Orphaned Land guitarist Yossi Sassi, who plays rhythm and solo parts on Bouzoukitara - a unique custom-made instrument combining Bouzouki and electric guitar.

The song is taken from the recent album "Of Clans and Clones and Clowns," which is available now through Bandcamp.

On the song and clip the band states: “‘Aral Sea II’ is the second part of the ‘Aral Sea’ trilogy, dedicated to the environmental disaster of the former sea — one of the biggest ecological problems of our time,” comments keyboard player and songwriter Constantin Glantz.

“This video features magnificent time-lapse footage taken by photographer Denis Frantsouzov on his journey through the Aral Sea/Ustyurt Plateau region. We tried to capture the reflection of an irreversible loss, and bid a final farewell to the Aral Sea — once a blooming oasis in the desert, now literally turned to dust as a result of reckless human activity.”

Soul Enema Issues New Video Clip

Heroes and villians are fighting the world in a mystic conspiracy thriller, coming from the factory of an Israeli Progressive band Soul Enema. "Spymania" is a part of a new album "Of Clans and Clones and Clowns," released back on June 23rd via InsideOutMusic. The colorful and diverse 73-minute work features guest appearances from Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) and Yossi Sassi (ex-Orphaned Land) and was mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend).

"As it turns out, an evil reptilians from planet Nibiru came down to Earth, and they are very close to get the key to universal knowledge. The super-human powers of Batman and Chuck Norris stand on their way, but it turns out, that only something related to the world of music is able to save the human race. What is it? Watch out till the end!,” the band commented.

"We used some paintings of a brilliant modern Russian artist Vasya Lozhkin, who's a big phenomenon in his home country, but still not really known in the Western World yet,” says songwriter and keyboard player Constantin Glantz, adding, “I must state that ‘Spymania' has some amusing background. The lyrics for this song were written way back in 2006, or maybe even earlier, and it features a kind of goofy, paranoid mock story about someone being mysteriously thrown down from the roof of Empire State Building, and seen too much things you ain't allowed to see, while flying down to the ground. So much, in fact, that this person was forcefully killed even before he naturally hit the ground. Fast forward to the year 2015, and guess what — suddenly we have a totally real conspiracy scandal taking place around the same Empire State Building during a big ecological happening, when some claimed there's Kali or Satan images projected on a building windows, as part of some mystic apocalyptic ritual! The Hell you know, indeed."

Soul Enema Returns With Sophomore Album

Israel-based progressive metal band Soul Enema announced the impending release date of the sophomore full length album "Of Clans and Clones and Clowns" on June 23rd, the album is now available for pre-order from either Bandcamp or iTunes.

The album album represents an interesting and varied combination of influences, including 14 tracks mixed an mastered by legendary Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Paradise Lost, Symphony X).

Soul Enema has issued a statement on the forthcoming album saying: "Looking back, it took a lot of time and effort to create ‘Of Clans and Clones and Clowns,’ and the final result brings the feeling of a real accomplishment. It was a long, complicated process, constantly laden with a myriad of good reasons to give up or compromise. It probably couldn't be any different, as our goal was a mature, well-produced statement, consistent in quality throughout, and at the same time versatile enough in its various moods, styles and approaches.

“A creative and diverse Rock/Metal album, exploring vast melodic and rhythmic territories — from ABBA to Zappa, from King Crimson to King Diamond, between East and West and way beyond — in true progressive fashion. Like any reflection of the world we live in, it takes a wild ride over a wide emotional spectrum: sad, funny, perfectly sane, totally insane, very direct, quite obscure, and everything in between.”

"Of Clans and Clones and Clowns" also features guest contributions from Ayreon’s Arjen Lucassen, Yossi Sassi (ex-Orphaned Land, Yossi Sassi Band), Sergey Kalugin and Yuri Ruslanov (from leading Russian proggers Orgia Pravednikov). More...
