Gross Misconduct
Formed: 2000
From:
Nanaimo,
Canada
Last Known Status: Active
Background
Since its inception in late 2000, Gross Misconduct helped resurrect the relatively dormant Vancouver Island metal scene with their brand of Canadian metal. With the emphasis being on harmonies and all out speed, Gross Misconduct emerged from the ashes of two Nanaimo-based skate punk/metal bands (Fuck Right Off and Spent Load). The four piece started with original members Dave London (guitars/vocals), John Kurucz (drums) and Jesse Brooks (bass) in 1999. The band went through an arduous process in finding the second axe needed to fill out the assault, but that man was found in the summer of 2000 in Jesse Brint. Since then, the band has concentrated on writing their signature brand of metal: harmony laden riffs over top of a crushing rhythm section. Their sound takes from both the European thrash-metal movement and the North American death metal scene to create a vortex of beautifully catastrophic metal. The band played countless shows on Vancouver Island with the likes of NomeansNo, Anonymous and Meatlocker 7 to name a few. In September 2003, the group re-located to Vancouver, with the hopes of conquering the Vancouver death/thrash scene.

Gross Misconduct Signs Canadian Distribution Deal
Vancouver-based death/thrash band Gross Misconduct has signed a Canada-wide distribution deal with PHD Canada Distributing.
The deal will see Gross Misconduct's debut album, The Process of Indoctrination, available in major retail outlets across the country, including HMV, A&B Sound, Archambault, CD Plus and Sunrise Records.
"Getting this deal done represents achieving one of our primary goals for our debut album," said Gross Misconduct's vocalist/guitarist David London. "We're looking forward to working with PHD to ensure that people can access our music no matter where they're located in Canada."
The deal culminates what has been an extremely productive 10 months since Gross Misconduct released its debut album in May 2007.

"We are preparing to tour across Canada this summer with some of the biggest names in the Canadian metal scene," adds drummer John Kurucz. "The details are being finalized, but we're pumped to share the stage with some of Canada's best metal bands and play in as many cities as we possibly can."

Amon Amarth Conquers Vancouver
It was a cold and dreary winter night on December 14th, 2007 in rain-soaked Vancouver. Viking ships disguised as tour buses pulled up in front of the Croatian Cultural Centre, carrying a crew of Norsemen prepared to pillage the venue and to unleash Swedish death metal upon the crowd of angst-ridden teenagers and drunken metalheads. After a pat-down by the anal retentive security guards at the CCC, we made our way into the main hall that already smelled of a mixture of various kinds of smoke and kids who hadn’t yet realized that deodorant use comes with puberty.
