The full lineup for Maryland Deathfest XI, which takes place May 23-26, 2013 is as follows: More...
With Sonar closing, the location of 2013's Maryland DeathFest XI was up in the air. The organizers have finally announced that the fest will be held in the same location as last year, and will be expanded. Maryland DeathFest XI will take place in Baltimore, Maryland on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, 2013. Tickets go on sale on October 15th at 12 pm (EST). You can read the entire update below:
We're a day early with this announcement, but we can finally let you know where MDF XI will be taking place.
In a nutshell, we will be returning to the property formerly known as Sonar, and will be at least doubling the amount of outside space that we've been used to utilizing. We realize that it's a bit of a mind fuck to wait around for a few months just to hear that the fest is returning to the same place, but truth be told, the other places we looked at were either not able to give us a definite answer anytime soon, and/or had too many inconveniences that we did not want to put the fans through. During the venue search, it was brought to our attention that the new owners of the property were willing to collaborate with us, so we decided to go through with returning to a familiar place that is close to the hotels and conveniences of downtown Baltimore.
The additional space outside will allow us to comfortably accommodate the crowd, and will allow more room for the MDF vendor village, food vendors/food trucks, places to sit, and other new additions like misting tents to escape the possibility of it being hotter than it should be that weekend. There will be two outside stages plus the stage inside. Due to the new configuration outside, the placement of the outside stages will likely be different.
As for the building itself, there are some renovations currently taking place, but the rooms will be used exactly how they have been in the past, and it will be air conditioned throughout.
We would also like to announce the addition of a second inside stage at Baltimore Soundstage, which is a 1/2 mile walk away from the former Sonar (at 124 Market Place), and will be used from Friday-Sunday. This will be a smaller show without a barricade that will feature mostly hardcore and punk bands, and it will be scheduled in a way that should not conflict with anything going on at the former Sonar compound. All of the bands for this stage will be included in next week's announcement on October 9th.

The Cleansing has issued the following update
"It's about time we let you in on some news regarding our new yet untitled 2nd album!"
"Toke is - as we speak - laying down vocal tracks for this slap of brutality that will be our next punch in the face! He's been doing a great job so far - it sounds KILLER! The drums were recorded in February at CB studios in Denmark - needless to say Morten did an amazing job recording the drums! Expect nothing but over-the-top drumming! We still need to record a lot of guitar stuff but plan to get all guitars, solos and bass done by mid-August."
"On another note - we are glad to welcome our new bass player Mads Haarløv (Iniquity, Strangler, Sacrificial, Swollen). We are very excited to start working with Mads!" More...
Dave Ingram, current vocalist for DOWNLORD, and former growler for BENEDICTION and BOLT THROWER, has joined Danish zombie-shaggers STRANGLER, which was created by Mads Haarløv after the funeral of Haarløv's prior underground icons, INIQUITY.
Dave Ingram: "I have both the energy and the creativity to be in two bands, and - equally as important - the backing of the Downlord dudes, so why the fuck not?!! I once worked with Mads in a band called DESERT MOUTH (in '98) prior to my tenure in Bolt Thrower, and have always wanted to work with that sick fucker again. I got given the chance, so I took it. So now I guess I'm damned... but, then again.... I was from birth!!"
Strangler currently only have a MySpace page available, where their 4-track demo - featuring Haarløv on vocals - is available to download for a limited time only.
Ingram: "The plan is for me to re-record the vocals on that demo, and then we'll release it online - again for free - and see where it takes us. So for now... go grab that sick fucking recording before we abort it!!!!"
DOWNLORD, the Denmark-based death metal band featuring Dave Ingram (ex-BENEDICTION, BOLT THROWER) on vocals, Donovan Spenceley (ex-SACRIFICIAL, EXCESSIVE PAYBACK) on guitar, Rene Falther (ex-EXCESSIVE PAYBACK, INIQUITY) on guitar, Thomas Fagerlind (ex-INIQUITY, DAEMON) on bass, and Rasmus Schmidt on drums, has released a studio-report video on the work progressing with the recording of its full-length album, "Random Dictionary Of The Damned", due late November 2006 on Open Grave Records.
Commented Dave Ingram: "In fact, the video has been available for a couple of weeks now. I just haven't had any bloody time to update the site, what with all the work we've been doing on the album! There's also the fact that we cracked open our archives and have set three older video reports online too. These being from the recording of our last demo, which we made in early 2006 with Reno Kiilerich on drums. And there's also some new pics available in the Photo Vault at www.downlord.dk.
"The album is coming along really fucking well! We're all pleased with the results so far, it's sounding killer. (But what ELSE would we say, right?) There's been a lot of hard work done, with plenty of blood, sweat and beers spilled along the way."
Open Grave Records and Downlord have announced the planned release of Downlord's two demo sessions as a limited edition (666 Copies) EP to be released on August 15th 2006.
DOWNLORD consists of members: Dave Ingram (ex-Benediction & Bolt Thrower) on vocals, Donovan Spenceley (ex-Sacrificial & Excessive Payback) on guitar, Rene Falther (ex-Excessive Payback & Iniquity) on guitar, Thomas Fagerlind (ex-Iniquity, Daemon) on bass, and are utilizing the talents of original drummer Rasmus Schmidt, whom recently stepped in to play with the band during their first live shows in Denmark & Sweden, supporting Bolt Thrower.
The track listing will be:
1. Loathe. Scorn. Detest.
2. Groin of God Amen & Out
3. Hate Brace
4. Full Scale Hatred (Previously Unreleased)
5. Old World Chaos
6. Turn On, Tune In, Drop Dead (Previously Unreleased)
7. Nail You in
Downlord are continuing to work hard on their debut album tentatively titled "Random Dictionary Of The Damned", due out in late 2006 on Open Grave Records.
According to a statement posted on Iniquitiy's official website, the Danish death metal veterans have called it quits:
"After 16 years, it is time to bury the hatchet. The last year has been motionless and uninspiring. We take that as a sign to quit. There are no bad vibes among the members whatsover and the decision was mutual. We shall continue playing music elsewhere."
"We thank all those who have helped and suported us over the years, as well as those we've played with, partied with and had sex with. Best regards to the underground , CHEERS!"
