Angtoria Post Two New Songs For Download

ANGTORIA, the new Swedish/British orchestral/metal band featuring female singer Sarah Jezebel Deva (CRADLE OF FILTH, THERION, MORTIIS), composer Chris Rehn (ABYSSOS), CRADLE OF FILTH bassist Dave Pybus and Tommy Rehn (MOAHNI MOAHNA), have posted two full-length songs — "Do You See Me Now" and "Six Feet Unders" — for free download on their official MySpace profile.

ANGTORIA's debut album, "God Has A Plan For Us All", was released in Europe in April via Listenable Records. The mixing process for the CD began on January 14, with acclaimed producer Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, MESHUGGAH, DEVIN TOWNSEND, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, BEHEMOTH) stepping in during the initial phase, and Tommy and Chris completing the mix at Sidelake studios with Micke Öhlén. The mastering was finished February 14 at the Cutting Room in Stockholm by Björn Engelmann, who has previously worked with RAMMSTEIN, IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, DIMMU BORGIR and WITHIN TEMPTATION, among others. The initial cover concept/idea was developed by Sarah. The CD is available in two versions: a standard jewel case version and a digipack version with a bonus track.

Mortiis Ready Single, Featured on Norwegian TV

Mortiis will be featured on an episode of the Norwegian television show "Lydverket" on Wednesday, March 1. The subject of the program is masks and images in rock music and Mortiis' prosthetic-enhanced frontman made the band an obvious choice for the program. Noted for his unique image, the frontman of the same name began wearing a full mask in 1994 as part of the full Mortiis concept. "Lydverket" captures Mortiis years later as the concept has evolved and Mortiis has begun removing the mask during live shows.

The "Lydverket" crew followed Mortiis for nine months, filming and interviewing the band numerous times on tour in England and Norway and at photo shoots. "Lydverket" (Norwegian for "soundworks") is Norway's biggest and most respected music program with an average of 150,000 viewers and airs on the country's largest channel. The episode will also include Slipknot, KISS' first manager Bill Aucoin, and Alice Cooper, among others.

This episode of "Lydverket" will first air on NRK1 on Wednesday, March 1 at 23.10 (11:10 p.m.) and will re-play on NRK2 Sunday, March 5.

Mortiis is currently working on new material. A follow up to last year's "The Grudge" is planned for this year.

The band is also set for a debut homeland single release when a special version of "DECADENT AND DESPERATE" is released. Taken from the seminal 'THE GRUDGE' album, "DECADENT AND DESPERATE" is released in Norway on Earache on March 6, 2006.

"DECADENT AND DESPERATE" comes in three formats, all including exclusive non-album tracks. Both 7" versions feature artwork including two poster sleeves and the CD contains one post-Grudge song "UNDERDOG".

DECADENT AND DESPERATE track listing:

Mortiis Work On New Album

Norway's MORTIIS has begun writing for a planned 2006 follow-up to "The Grudge". The legendary eccentric artist has been collaborating with well-known producer Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, Frontline Assembly, Paradise Lost) and is currently demoing material.

"On the new songs, we are focusing more on what I think got a bit lost last time, which is songwriting and continuity," said Mortiis. "Last time I was trying to make a really angry and abusive record, and I wanted to do everything at the same time because I wanted all this noisy stuff to happen. The distorted noise, electronics, and samples are still there, but these songs are more focused and have a more coherent interaction between the programmed and the organic. They are definitely a lot more organic, and I am putting a lot of weight on guitars this time."

Some of the working song titles include: "The Ugly Truth", "Doppelganger", "Hard to Believe", "Zeitgeist", "Scolding the Burnt" and "Great Deceiver".

In other news, guitarist Åge Troite has replaced Åsmund Sveinunggard for live duties with MORTIIS. European and North American dates are being worked on at this time.

Mortiis Postpone European Tour

Due to changes in management and booking structure and events beyond the band's control, MORTIIS' planned European shows for March/April have been postponed. "We realize some of these shows have been advertised and tickets have been put up for sale already, so we would advise anyone who bought tickets to get a refund," reads a posting on the group's web site. "We are currently planning a U.K./European tour for later on in the spring of 2006, so stay tuned for more info."

MORTIIS recently released his first DVD, entitled "Soul in a Hole". The disc was filmed in 2004 in London during the two-month "The Unlimited Grudge Tour" with SUSPERIA. The DVD contains bonus videos, photo galleries, interviews, and other extras, in addition to live footage.

Mortiis Comment on BOBT, Release DVD

Norway's MORTIIS has commented on their participation of the forthcoming Blackest Of The Black 2005 Tour featuring DANZIG, CHIMAIRA, BEHEMOTH, HIMSA and THE AGONY SCENE:

"I think it's a very interesting package and should draw a rather diverse crowd. I'm a big fan of pretty much everything DANZIG ever put out, and always loved his classic horror approach to image and art. I can totally relate to that, given our own image isn't that far removed from what he did early on in THE MISFITS."

MORTIIS' one and only tour of America was in 1999 with CHRISTIAN DEATH. "If anyone saw us then and comes to see us now, they're in for a bit of a shock," said Mortiis. "A lot has changed and everything that we used to be has been killed off to make way for a new monster."

MORTIIS' first DVD, entitled "Soul in a Hole," will be released November 1. The DVD was filmed last year in London during the two-month "The Unlimited Grudge Tour" tour with SUSPERIA. The DVD will contain four bonus videos, photo galleries, interviews, and other extras, in addition to live footage.

Blackest Of Black Tour Dates

The first dates have been announced for the 2005 "Blackest of the Black" tour, which will kick off in San Diego at the end of September and end on the West Coast on Halloween. Joining headliners DANZIG will be the crème de la crème of the hardcore/dark/black metal bands — CHIMAIRA, BEHEMOTH, HIMSA, MORTIIS and THE AGONY SCENE.

DANZIG's performance on all dates of the "Blackest of the Black" tour will feature former MISFITS' guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein for a special 30-minute set of MISFITS classics. Doyle joined DANZIG on a handful of tour dates last winter (New York, Philadelphia, Boston) for "the closest thing to a MISFITS reunion you're going to see."

"'The Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on MTV," said Glenn Danzig. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets shoved down fans' throats at other concerts." The "Blackest of the Black" festival was organized by Danzig and debuted in the summer of 2003 with DANZIG, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, OPETH, NILE, LACUNA COIL and BEHEMOTH on the bill. "I'd like to see this being an on-going event," Danzig added.

Behemoth's Nergal Reacts To Blackest of the Black

With the recent announcement of the second Blackest of teh Black Tour, including Danzig, Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, Mortiis and The Agony Scene, BEHEMOTH mainman Nergal has posted his reaction to the tour and announcement:

"We were honored to be a part of the first edition of 'Blackest of the Black' festivals in 2003. But back then we opened for the whole festival package and this time we will play a 30 minute long set right before Chimaira and Danzig. It's very exciting to be back to US again, I can tell you. But what thrills me the most is the fact that BEHEMOTH is going to share the stage with one of my all time favorite artists, Glenn Danzig. This tour is going to be HUGE, I can assure you!"

Shortly before joining the "Blackest of the Black" in the U.S., BEHEMOTH will start the fall leg of their European Demigod tour. The madness starts on the 2nd of September in Milton Keynes, England and will be spreading through most of Europe. Released in January of 2005, Demigod quickly surpassed what its predecessor did in two years in just two months. Heralded as "metal's best live band" by BW&BK, BEHEMOTH have toured with the likes of heavyweights Suffocation, Nile, King Diamond, Black Dahlia Murder, Halford, Testament, Opeth, Superjoint Ritual and Danzig. The band has been featured on the covers of BW&BK, Pit, Metal Bite, Metal Hammer and Metal Maniacs and has received regular airplay of "Conquer All" on "Headbangers Ball."

Danzig Announces Blackest of the Black Tour

Glenn Danzig, at the forefront of the hardcore/dark metal movement for more than 25 years, announces that the 2005 "Blackest of the Black" tour will kick off in San Diego at the end of September and end on the west coast on Halloween. For the sophomore year of this Fall traveling festival, Danzig has assembled a line-up of the crème de la crème of the hardcore/dark/black metal bands - Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, Mortiis (ex-Emperor), and The Agony Scene. Danzig will headline, of course.

"'The Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on MTV," said Danzig. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets shoved down fans' throats at other concerts." The "Blackest of the Black" festival was organized by Danzig and debuted in the Summer of 2003 with Danzig, Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Nile, Lacuna Coil and Behemoth on the
bill. "I'd like to see this being an on-going event," Danzig added.

In addition to organizing and headlining the "Blackest of the Black" tour, Glenn Danzig will see the release of the DVD "Il Demonio Nera" (evilive) on July 12. "Il Demonio Nera" is a collection of videos, video outtakes, alternative versions and previously unreleased music videos from the band's "Danzig 4" and "Danzig 5" CDs. His new CD, "Black Aria II," the follow up to 1993's "Black Aria," has been completed and will be released later this year, and Glenn is in the process of shooting his first feature film, "Gerouge," which he has written and will direct. "Gerouge" is based on one of the comic book titles distributed by his Verotik publishing company, and concerns Turn of the Century New Orleans Voodoo.

Confirmed dates for the "Blackest of the Black" will be announced shortly.

'The Grudge' will also be the first ever single from Mortiis and will be on sale on Monday 16th August for one week only. Kerrang TV will be airing the video all week after 22.00 CET each night.

As earlier reported, Mortiis will be teaming up with SUSPERIA for a double headline package under the banner of The Unlimited Grudge Tour 2004.
