Vision Of Disorder MiniSet During Bloodsimple Show

BLOODSIMPLE's September 24 concert at Club Voltage in Levittown, New York included a short reunion set by VISION OF DISORDER (V.O.D.), the legendary New York hardcore band which featured in its ranks current BLOODSIMPLE singer Tim Williams and guitarist Mike Kennedy. Opening the show was KARNOV, whose lineup includes two other former VISION OF DISORDER members, drummer Brendon Cohen and bassist-turned-guitarist Mike Fleischmann.

In a Billboard.com review of the show, music journalist Greg Prato writes, "Sounding amazingly tight and heavy, despite not having played a show together in four years, V.O.D. cranked out a short-but-sweet three song set, including 'Choke', 'Element', and 'D.T.O.' Unfortunately, unless you were right up front (and good luck attempting that without taking a boot to the head), you couldn't get a good view of the band, thanks to the constant presence of three burly bouncers who stood on the front of the stage throughout. Despite mass chanting of 'V.O.D., V.O.D.,' the band was off the stage in what seemed like a flash."

Writing to BLOODSIMPLE's official MySpace.com page, Williams said about the concert, "For all those unlucky enough to miss this, you fucked up!!! This was the best BLOODSIMPLE show to date in Long Island!! Thanks to all the fans for making it amazing... V.O.D. was just as fun!! Thanks again to all the kids."

Another Ozzfest Second Stage "Mystery Band" Slot

Ozzfest.com has added a second "mystery band" slot to the lineup of acts performing on the Hot Topic second stage at this year's travelling festival. BLOODSIMPLE, the New York-based band featuring former members of VISION OF DISORDER, DOWNSET and MEDICATION, are a favorite to fill one of the slots. There is no word yet on which act the second slot will go to.

Earlier this week, Ozzfest organizers announced that VELVET REVOLVER will be taking over for IRON MAIDEN as one of Ozzfest's main attractions when this year's traveling festival hits Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 23; IRON MAIDEN will be no-shows for the last seven dates of this summer's Ozzfest because of previous touring commitments they'd made overseas.

American Head Charge Guitarist Found Dead?

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE guitarist Bryan Ottoson is rumored to have been found dead in his bunk earlier today prior to the band's scheduled appearance at the Plex in North Charleston, SC. An official word on the matter is expected shortly.

AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE were in the middle of a U.S. tour with MUDVAYNE, LIFE OF AGONY and BLOODSIMPLE in support of their new album, "The Feeding", available on Nitrus/DRT. The follow-up to 2001's "The War of Art" (American Recordings) was recorded at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman (who engineered "The War of Art", and whose credits include MARILYN MANSON, SLIPKNOT, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and BUSH).

Hailing from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the six members of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE garnered both commercial and critical acclaim with "The War of Art", which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers" chart. Intensive, high-profile touring followed, including Ozzfest 2002, cementing the band's reputation as a killer live act.

Mudvayne Tour Report For April 9th In Philadelphia

I attended the Philadelphia stop on the Mudvayne, Life of Agony, American Head Charge and Bloodsimple tour on Saturday, April 9th at the Electric Factory. Mudvayne recently had to cancel their stop on the Guerilla Tour for Philly due to many different reasons. However they still honored those tickets at this show. Which were cheaper, by the way. I had the chance to also interview Matt McDonough prior to the event so look for that in the coming days as well! More...

Metal Musicians Pay Tribute To Anthrax

Metal musicians congratulate Anthrax on their 20th anniversary:

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine: "Anthrax is a band that I have always respected, that has always mattered and was very important to the American metal scene. As part of the 'big four' they were responsible for an enormous amount of the credit for helping establish American metal bands as serious contenders in the world of metal."

Metallica's Kirk Hammett: "Anthrax's music matters. In the pantheon of modern metal, ANTHRAX are certainly a cornerstone, and if one listens, one can hear their influence on any number of up and coming bands of the new generation."

Deftones' Abe Cunningham: "Anthrax plays a huge role in Stef and me meeting and starting to jam together; we met through a mutual friend who gave me my first copy of 'Among the Living'. Deftones started in 1988, but before that it was just the two of us in his mom's hot ass garage with the dryer on and the washing machine overflowing trying to make it through 'Indians' and 'Caught In A Mosh'. I would like to thank you guys for the inspiration, your precision, your tones, your dedication and for having the nut sacks to try shit that no one would. Happy 20th Anniversary!!! All the best."

Judas Priest's Rob Halford: "Everyone in Judas Priest congratulates our good friends from Anthrax for passing their 20th-year metal milestone. We have always been fans of the band and had the pleasure to do many shows together. Anthrax are true pioneers with their unique style, sound and heavy brand of metal. They have always and will continue to inspire and influence those around them within the metal world." More...

Bloodsimple Video and Tour Dates

Bloodsimple have made an uncut version of the video for their first single from their upcoming albm available on their Myspace site. The single is "Straight Hate" and the album is "A Cruel World". "A Cruel World" will be released March 29th.

Bloodsimple don’t want to be judged by the merits of their past, but they know that it’s probably going to happen. And they’re ready.

“People are going to be blindsided by this record, and I can say that with confidence—I think this is my greatest work,” says frontman Tim Williams, who along with guitarist Mike Kennedy, spawned bloodsimple from the ashes of their acclaimed metal-core outfit Vision Of Disorder. While VOD were visionaries on the heavy music front, bloodsimple offered the pair an opportunity to stretch their musical muscles, further expanding their hard-hitting dynamics from sheer aggression and amplified rage, to subtle soundscapes that stress their uninhibited extremes.
