Endseeker Posts Escape From New York Theme Cover

This past April, Endseeker released their new full-length, "Mount Carcass," via Metal Blade Records - which debuted at #22 on the German charts! Today, the band has launched a video for the album track, "Escape From New York" - a cover version of the John Carpenter classic! You can check it out below.

Endseeker comments: "We have a long tradition of cover songs, but this is the first time we chose an instrumental track, and even a main theme from a movie, but 2021 is the 40th anniversary of John Carpenter's masterpiece, which just never gets old. The main theme has this iconic beat and mesmerizing melodies that sound so creepy and haunting in their original synth sound that we thought this would be the perfect template for a massive metal version. When we started to play around with it and try out different things for the arrangement, it was clear very fast that this works out absolutely great. We tried to stick quite close to the original and keep that eerie feeling over the song as a deeply respectful homage to this awesome movie and composition."

Endseeker guitarist Ben Liepelt recently spoke with Metal Underground about the "Mount Carcass" album, among other topics. The interview can also be seen below. More...

Lord Of The Lost Posts New Music Video Online

German genrefluid visionaries Lord Of The Lost have released a second cinematic and visually stunning video for their second single, "For They Know Not What They Do". The new music video picks up where the first video for "Priest" (more than 400,000 views to date) leaves off. Together, the two videos form the start of a grand narrative of black and white, good and evil, and loud and quiet. These two pre-released singles are the first and second songs on the track list of the new double album "Judas," and form the oeuvre to a "Magnum Opus" (La Heavy Magazine).

"For They Know Not What They Do", the second single from "Judas" proves that this new piece of art is musically and organically grown and has very lively highlights - including a choir, grand piano and string quintet - as well as a real church organ.

Chris Harms on the new video:
"With ‘For They Know Not What They Do’, the audiovisual experience of ‘Priest’ is not only continued, but in a certain way, a cycle opens here which connects the two videos in their beginnings and endings. In addition, we have fulfilled a childhood dream here, because what musician would not like to be seen once as a ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ choir in the best Queen manner in his video..." More...

Building Brand With Your Life!

So one of the things you need to be doing as a band is try to create some sort of brand that operates beyond the music. You need to be tapping into culture as a whole so that people have a more clear way to really integrate with what you’re doing. One of the best ways to do this is to talk about your interests.

I wanted to break down some strategies that allow you to build brand in a logical way. This includes stuff like talking about sports, sharing details about your reading and of course unveiling some of your day to day life. This is how you really start to build brand that goes beyond. More...

Darkthrone Shares New Single "Hate Cloak"

The Norwegian black metal legends, show that within five tracks and 45 minutes on their 19th album, "Eternal Hails," they remain defiantly and eternally Darkthrone.

Since forming in 1986 as Black Death in Kolboton, Norway, Darkthrone have been masters of their art. Dropping the death metal of 1991’s "Soulside Journey" debut album in favour of a more primitive, black metal sound on the following year’s "A Blaze In The Northern Sky," they helped define black metal in the '90s through albums like 1993’s "Under A Funeral Moon" and its follow-up "Transilvanian Hunger." Truly, though, Darkthrone remain unique, even in their own canon.

On "Eternal Hails," the longer, doomier songs reflect drummer Fenriz’s love of doom, taking their time to make their point. For Fenriz, what he and co-conspirator Nocturno Culto have concocted stretches back even further than discovering black metal, to the sounds of the ‘70s and the more freewheeling sounds of bands playing with more expansive themes. This didn’t just make the songs longer, it made them an entirely different beast from the ground up.

“When I was a kid growing up with metal I kept looking for bands with long songs. Black Sabbath had many, and Celtic Frost’s ‘Dawn Of Meggido’ had a long song, so I put that on in the record store and discovered another dimension of metal. Candlemass’ ‘Epicus Doomicus Metallicus’ had only long songs, so I think I bought that without even listening, and it was one of my best buys ever - an eternal inspiration for my entire career..

"For us it has become a bit logical, hard to explain, but you get to build up for a different kind of listening,” says Nocturno Culto. “A three-minute song is nothing we think of at the moment. We like it this way. For now." More...

Subway To Sally Posts New Live Video Online

Subway To Sally has released the second video from their new live Blu-Ray, "Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark." This special, intimate version of the fan-favorite "Kleid aus Rosen" (EN: Dress of Roses) offers an absolute world premiere: Ally Storch, as well as Saskia and Birgit from Schandmaul, intonate the legendary three-part polyphony at the beginning of the song for the first time ever live.

This version of "Kleid aus Rosen" stands for what "Eisheilige Nacht - Back To Lindenpark" is all about: an intimate setting, special guests and unique production.

Bodenski on "Kleid aus Rosen":
"There are lyrics that you write in one ride. I can still remember exactly how I put this story on paper. In my mind's eye I saw a balladeer standing in the marketplace with a display board and telling his audience this gruesome story, perhaps as a lesson and warning for young girls.

"I actually believed at the time that the lyrics would not be suitable for Subway To Sally. I was so wrong. When I heard Ingo's brilliant composition to this text, I was thrilled. It is rightly one of our most popular songs. Everything about this song is just right. In the studio, Sigrid Hausen, better known as Syrah, helped us to sing the three-part intro. Until the Eisheilige Nacht Online, this intro was always recorded. It was a special experience for us to hear it live for the first time!" More...
