Stryper Reveals New Album Details

Once again proving their lasting durability, iconic rock band Stryper return with their 13th studio album, "Even the Devil Believes," via Frontiers Music Srl. Filled with the band’s signature riffs, harmony-laden melodies and positive themes, the eleven song project is Stryper’s first studio album with Perry Richardson (Firehouse) on bass and backing vocals. "This album was recorded during the pandemic, and I believe the message pertains to the times we are living in so perfectly. It’s a recording of hope and inspiration and a light in the darkest of times."

Sweet, who also produced the new album, revealed that the band members delivered focused determination, a collaborative spirit and spot-on execution for the new record. The result is a collection of remarkable songs that will leave a strong impact on listeners. Venom Prison Re-Record Songs For New Album

Death metal trailblazers, Venom Prison, have announced a new release, Primeval, out via Prosthetic Records on October 9.

The 11-track album will feature re-recordings of tracks from their early EPs, "Defy The Tyrant" and "Primal Chaos," as well as two brand new tracks. The first track from "Primeval" is a re-working of "Defy The Tyrant," which is streaming everywhere now, and features an accompanying video which can be viewed below.

Of the track, Venom Prison comment, "This song is not only criticizing organized religion and Christianity as a whole but also the ways in which it was spread across the whole world; resulting in genocide, rape, colonialism, slavery, misogyny and homophobia. It is this spirit of inherent superiority that characterized the attitude of the European nations as they expanded overseas, competing for colonial power and the conversion of “heathen” natives. Rather than standing up against the trans-Atlantic slavery, the church helped perpetuate the practice, endeavouring to support slavery on biblical grounds. 'Defy the Tyrant' is as relevant today as it was five years ago. As long as there is a master in the sky, there will be slaves on earth." More...

Heathen Posts New Lyric Video Online

Bay Area thrash legends Heathen are back. Today, the band reveal the details of their fourth studio album, "Empire Of The Blind," which will be released on September 18 via Nuclear Blast Records. Check out the lyric video for the first single, "The Blight", below.

The band comments: "We are very pleased to announce Empire Of The Blind! It's been another 10 years but we are finally back with a new Heathen album. Fine wine takes time! Everyone in the band worked their asses off on this record. Zeuss absolutely nailed it and more than realized our vision for the sound. Travis Smith perfectly captured the bleak atmosphere that we imagined for the artwork. It was a year in the making and we couldn't be more proud of the outcome. The 1st single 'The Blight' is just the beginning... behold the rising Empire!"

"Empire Of The Blind" was for the most part engineered, produced, mixed, and mastered by Christopher “Zeuss” Harris at Planet Z Studios. Additional details - rhythm guitars, etc. - were put to digital “tape” by Kragen Lum at SubLevel Studio in Little Rock, AR. The album features guest appearances by Gary Holt (Exodus, Slayer), Rick Hunolt (ex-Exodus) and Doug Piercy (ex-Heathen). More...

Mantar Posts "Can I Run" Video Online

German metal duo Mantar has posted a new music video online for their rendition of the L7 song, "Can I Run." You can check it out below. The song comes from the band's new covers EP, "Grungetown Hooligans II," which is out today and available through the band's Bandcamp page. Speaking about the cover, the band said:

"Dear people,

"For the third single of 'Grungetown Hooligans II' which finally drops worldwide today we've picked a rather dark yet powerful song. This song is called 'Can I Run' and is originally from mighty L7 who influenced us a whole lot when we were youngsters. The lyrics are aggressive, hostile, sad, and most importantly from a female perspective. Violence against women makes us sick to our stomachs and we can't even begin to imagine the circumstances that women and any persons who are regularly victims of violence and hate experience not only today, but throughout history.

"Also we thought it is an appropriate statement for every single person asking us if we were gay for every picture of us holding hands or being somewhat affectionate towards each other. And even though being in a band with just one other person can often feel like a marriage, we are what you would consider "straight" men. Pretty much by accident. So who are we to speak up? Well, we don't really know, but who are we if we don't?! So, sorry for the dark vibes on a Friday but we love the song, the band and you. And yes, Erinc ate the whole fucking cake. Peace." More...
