Insurgent To Release Debut EP In August

One of the UK's most thrilling new metal prospects, Insurgent, have announced the release of their debut EP "Sentient," on 6th August. The band have also issued a new single "Colours Bleed." You can check out the video below.

Finely-crafted and fully mature songwriting belies the quartet’s youth – a foursome who met in music college and who in their short time together have already toured as far afield as Ukraine. Elements of prog metal in the vein of TesseracT and The Agonist meld with stadium-filling anthems not far removed from Alter Bridge, Trivium, and Jinjer.

Comments guitarist Joe Rowley: "We always chase that perfect blend between heavy rhythms and memorable, powerfully delivered vocal melodies and we feel that Sentient is the perfect collection of songs with which to present our sound to the world. Lyrically, we like to challenge the status quo and tackle the various problems associated with modern society whilst encouraging people to reflect on their behaviour and how they could change it for the better. There is always a tricky balance to be struck between sounding new and exciting whilst still remaining identifiable, and without alienating your audience. We feel like this is the musical space in which we thrive and we will always promise to deliver music that exceeds the expectations of the rock and metal world."

Insurgent deliver beyond musical excellence – the songs on offer across "Sentient" are all written from the perspective of a God-like figure. Through this figure the band analyse negative behaviour of humans (track one, "Zero Sum") and spiritual reflection and criticism of our creator (track six "My Sentence Awaits"). Ultimately Insurgent look to inspire, with the overriding message of the EP being that each individual has the power to improve the world, by improving themselves.

Led by Kate Teitge’s brilliantly powerful, emotive vocals, and backed by the technical skill and intensity of Joe Rowley (guitar), Jake Brettle (bass) and Mike Tebone (drums), Insurgent are a new group ready to take your notice. More...

Cerebral Rot Streaming New Album In Full

Ahead of its official release through 20 Buck Spin this Friday, the gory second album from Seattle death metal henchmen Cerebral Rot is now streaming in its harrowing entirety.

Soaked in the swamp of radioactive sewage, Cerebral Rot’s tumor-like growth on "Excretion Of Mortality" bludgeons with a hammering heaviness that few can manage or survive. A methodical focus on attaining maximum barbarism through every aspect of the production, from the meaty, dripping guitars to the immense rhythm section and Schwab’s nuclear travesty vocals, to the deceptively straightforward bludgeoning of the songs, exposes a scalpel-like cutting precision to this seemingly base display of horrid malevolence. Before leaving Jack Endino’s Soundhouse Studio in Seattle permanently uninhabitable for the next 500 hundred years, the pungent bubbling mess they set to tape on Excretion Of Mortality lingers there, and everywhere, like a malodorous putrescence at the crossroads of the excremental and the existential.

Ascending from the odious decay of their first LP, Cerebral Rot passes from animal to human contagion with a new more purulent virus on Excretion Of Mortality. A return of such festering decrepitude and anatomical canker as befits the true adherents of vile and sick underground death metal. More...

Ignea Signs With Napalm Records

Napalm Records is pleased to welcome outstanding Ukrainian melodic modern metal five-piece Ignea to its growing roster. The outfit has just inked a worldwide record deal with the premier rock and metal label and mixes heavy riffs and storytelling with symphonic, electronic and folk elements, creating a powerful soundtrack-like experience. Staying true to the melodic essence of their music, Ignea also includes touches of brutality by occasionally incorporating extreme vocals, breakdowns and blast beats.

In 2013, Ignea kicked off with their debut EP "Sputnik." Things started revving up after the release of the incredibly powerful and popular single "Alga" – the first-ever original song from a Ukrainian band recorded with a full symphonic orchestra – gathering over six million views on YouTube and counting! The track is cut from the band’s debut album, "The Sign of Faith" (2017), in which Ignea combines heavy soundscapes with clean and extreme vocals, adding authentic Middle Eastern melodies spliced with a melodic essence, to create a breathtaking auditory experience.

Ignea’s second full-length, "The Realms of Fire and Death," was released in 2020. Their national awards, The Best Ukrainian Metal Act, chose it as metal album of the year, and Ignea was also named the best Ukrainian metal band of 2020.

Ignea is currently preparing for great things to come soon and will unveil new music later this year. In addition, the unit is working on its third record and debut with Napalm Records for 2022 - more to be announced soon!

Ignea's vocalist Helle Bogdanova states:
"I truly believe that our cooperation with Napalm Records will go under the banner of synergy that will bring the best out of Ignea and also make our label proud to have us in the roster. IGNEA means ‘burning’, and mixing fire with Napalm can be simply nothing else but a blast. So, 'strike a match, let’s make it bright'!"

Bokassa Reveals New Album Details

After recently signing with Napalm Records, Norwegian power trio Bokassa are fully charged up and ready to set everything ablaze on their upcoming album, entitled "Molotov Rocktail," out September 3, 2021 via Napalm Records.

The follow up to "Crimson Riders" (2019), released during their tour with Metallica, displays their trademarked brand of stoner punk at its best throughout all 11 tracks. Today, the band kicks things off with their raucous first single "Careless (In The Age Of Altruism)," during which the three-piece unites heavy stoner rock riffs with melodic singalong choruses, alongside an energetic music video! Norway’s most exciting export and Lars Ulrich’s “new favorite band” brings the noise and delivers energy like The Bronx, Red Fang, and Queens Of The Stone Age. Hundreds of thousands of streams and fans across the world can attest: Bokassa are on their way to becoming the elite of stoner punk!

Bokassa adds:
"‘Careless (In The Age Of Altruism)’ was one of the first tracks written for 'Molotov Rocktail' and a single candidate from the get go because of its crunchy riffage and affective hook. As with ‘So Long, Idiots!’ our protagonist has become more and more disillusioned with the world, and tries his best to avoid it, while existing comfortably in his own bubble. We also think it may be the only song that includes the word ‘Didjeridon’t’?"

"Molotov Rocktail" tracklisting:
1. Freelude
2. So Long Idiots!
3. Pitchforks R Us
4. Hereticules
5. Low (And Behold)
6. Godless
7. Molotov Rocktail
8. Burn It All (P.T.S.D.E.A.D)
9. Careless (In The Age Of Altruism)
