Mayhem Reveals New EP Details

The infamous Mayhem return this year with an outstanding EP called "Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando," with additional material from the "Daemon" session, including a homage to bands that laid the foundation for what was to come. The EP will be released on July 9.

The lords of darkness have dug deep and reflected their influences to create a musical odyssey that shows them multifaceted in several ways. For this goal, cover versions of bands like Discharge, Dead Kennedys, Rudimentary Peni and Ramones were chosen, which in typical Mayhem manner impressively fit into their bursting and darkened sound. The band also recruited Billy Messiah and Maniac, who took over vocal performances on two songs.

In addition to the named cover versions, a previously unreleased track called "Voces Ab Alta" is featured on the EP, which continues the musical journey alongside "Black Glass Communion" and "Everlasting Dying Flame," which were used as bonus tracks for the 2019 album "Daemon."

The EP thus closes the capital, which was opened with the release of Daemon back in 2019 and illuminates the band once again in typical unusual and surprising-sounding way. More...

Vokonis Streaming New Album

Vokonis' fourth studio album "Odyssey" is out now. More dynamically diverse than ever, the album's 6 new tracks feature guest musician Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Kamchatka) on Keyboard. "Odyssey" is Vokonis' first true prog-record. A record for the new decade.

After the success of Vokonis' critically acclaimed third album "Grasping Time" (2019), Vokonis immediately went into recording more material. With the goal set to further expand the prog landscape, Vokonis crafted recordings that are more dynamically diverse and forward-thinking than ever before. The result is "Odyssey," the fourth studio album by Vokonis. Ranging from full-blown doom to melodically blissful passages, the new album features guest musician Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Kamchatka) on Keyboard. The album can be heard in full here.

With tangible prog- influences combined with stand-out choruses, the 6 tracks on "Odyssey" further explores the sound that Vokonis introduced on 2019’s ”Grasping Time”. Jonte’s clean vocal lines are effectively blended with Simon’s aggressive bark, creating tons of depth as the sound shift from dreamy psychedelia to faze-melting sludge heaviness. The new tracks are backed up by the rhythmical patterns provided by the band’s new drummer Peter Ottosson who, since his affiliation in early 2019, has proved to be a spark plug of inspiration for the band. Defocus Releases "Diverge" Music Video

German metalcore quartet Defocus have released a video for their new single "Diverge." The track, which features a guest appearance from The Oklakoma Kid vocalist Tom Brümmer, is the third single from their forthcoming debut album "In The Eye Of Death We Are All The Same," due for release on 2nd July 2021 via Arising Empire.

Check out the video for "Diverge" feat. Tom Brümmer below.

Bassist Marcel "Bambam" Heberling comments:

"'Diverge' was one of the first songs we wrote for Defocus. It was crucial for the sound of our debut album In The Eye Of Death We Are All The Same. 'Diverge' combines the best aspects of our first two singles: the heaviness and brutality of 'Common Grave' and the atmosphere of 'Thought Of A Vision'. The feature of The Oklahoma Kid´s vocalist Tom Brümmer turns 'Diverge' into a song that stays right in your head and encourages you to sing along." More...
