Schismopathic Releases New Music Video

Cult Polish grindcore act Schismopathic is back on the map with their first full-length since its inception in 1988. With 12 new songs recorded with two original members, "The Human Legacy" is old-school grindcore frenzy at its best. Selfmadegod will issue "The Human Legacy" in late May and have now issued an official video for the track "Time Of History."

Founded in 1987 under the name Schismopathic Torment, in 1988 the band changed its name to Schismopathic under the lineup of bassist Jacek B., guitarist Robert F., and vocalist/drummer Robert G. A year later, they released their debut demo, Kharkharamapathic Regurgitator, resulting in a plethora of shows throughout Poland with bands from the top tier of their country’s underground. In 1991, Schismopathic recorded their debut album, "D.E.M.O.C.R.A.C.Y.," which, due to the band's suspension, was released with the first demo and live recordings in 2013 on CD, and then a few years later on LP via Selfmadegod Records.

The band’s reactivation in 2020 was preceded by a split 7” EP with Antigama, also released through Selfmadegod. The band reactivated in the original lineup but without Robert G., who was replaced on drums by Janek (ex-Psychoneurosis, ex-Bottom) and new vocalist Adrian. With this lineup, Schismopathic composed and recorded material for the full album, "The Human Legacy," which will now see release through Selfmadegod Records in May of 2021. More...

Lantlos Reveals New Album Details

Some bands are highly regarded by their fans as they keep delivering great albums in the same style over and over. Lantlos are clearly not one of those. The followers of this outstanding metal entity lead by instigator and mastermind Markus Siegenhort rather value the ever changing nature and constant evolution of his bubbling musical creativity.

With their fifth full-length, "Wildhund" ("Wild Dog"), Lantlos once again shed their sonic skin and emerge from their inspirational chrysalis a quite different animal than the one before. The Germans have turned into an alternative metal butterfly with songs meandering along colourful streams through beautiful wide open soundscapes that defy easy comparison but can tentatively be located somewhere in that warped sonic space between Devin Townsend, Smashing Pumpkins, Hum, and Motorpsycho. This collection of amazing songs also comes with the gravity defying, inverted heaviness of Deftones and a strong dose of catchiness that in unobserved moments even leans towards the Foo Fighters.

"The album is named 'Wildhund', which is German for a dog born or living in the wilderness", explains Markus. "Its themes revolve around freedom, cherry blossoms, summer, having a sunny birthday as a kid, bubblegum, the smell of mint, sweetness, the colours of pink and baby blue, childhood memories, a lemon in a glass of water, glitter, nostalgia, kitsch, and many more up to the point when it becomes 'too much'. It's like that kind of 'so utterly sweet' that it tastes artificial, strange, and confusing. Aesthetics on overdrive, hypnotic but powerful. This is 'hardcore' softness, if that makes any sense."

Now Lantlos are revealing the psychedelic tripping video "Lake Fantasy" as the first single taken from their forthcoming album "Wildhund" ("Wild Dog"), which is slated for release on July 30, 2021. The German alternative metal project headed by multi-instrumentalist Markus Siegenhort is also revealing cover art, tracklist, and further details of the new full-length. More...

Manticora Reschedules European Tour

Due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic, Danish metal pioneers Manticora had to postpone their European tour, which was to take place in May/June 2021, but the venues and agents have acted fast and more or less re-booked the entire tour, which has now been scheduled for May/June 2022.

Says guitarist Kristian Larsen: "With the world shutting down to an extend where culture have had to take serious blows, it sadly came as no surprise that we - as so many others - also had to postpone our European tour from 2021 to 2022. We have decided to take a step back, re-work our entire outfit and come back even stronger on the other side of this crazy pandemic, so the fans who have patiently waited another year for this tour to happen will get an even more optimized show from us. We can't wait to present this new and improved version of the band and the fans better prepare to get Manticorized!"

The rescheduled dates, with four more to be added, are listed below: More...

Copenhell And Roskilde Festivals Postponed

After months of hopeful optimism, the Roskilde Festival and Copenhell have been canceled for 2021. Earlier this year the Danish government announced that the country would be vaccinated by June, and concert goers rejoiced at the thought of a summer of music festivals that didn't happen in 2020.

Alas, the vaccination process has gone much slower than anticipated, with just a bit over 20% of the Danish population receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the beginning of May. On May 4, the Danish government announced the restrictions for summer which include caps on indoor gatherings of 500 people and outdoor gatherings of 1,000 people. A vaccine passport or COVID test will be required for entry.

Therefore, the Roskilde Festival, with attendance of over 130,000, and Copenhell, with attendance of over 25,000, will not be possible in 2021.

The Metal Magic Festival will happen in July, with only 500 tickets available. Most have already been sold.

Some of the Danish bands that were scheduled to play at Roskilde and Copenhell may still perform live at smaller venues. Hopefully, some of those announcements will be happening soon now that there is clearer guidance from the government.

2022 Copenhell will have Iron Maiden as a headliner.
