Haken Posts "Invasion" Music Video Online

Progressive rockers Haken are pleased to launch the video for their new single "Invasion," the third track taken from their forthcoming new album "Virus." Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the label and bands control, the release date for the album has had to be postponed to the 19th June 2020.

The band comment: "Lyrically, Invasion deals with themes including but not limited to anxiety, depression and suicidal tendencies. We thought that the discussion of a "Virus of the mind" tied in well to the psychological themes touched upon in the sister record 'Vector' and lent itself to the character development of Virus's manic protagonist."

The new video for "Invasion" was created by Crystal Spotlight, who also produced the video for "Canary Yellow." You can watch the video below. More...

Currents Debuts New Single

American metalcore outfit Currents has uploaded a new song entitled, "Monsters." You can check it out a visualizer video for the track below.

"'Monsters' is about taking responsibility for the toxic relationships in your life and using past failures as fuel for the future," says singer Brian Wille. "The track features some different sounds for the band and I'm stoked on the riffs [guitarist] Chris [Wiseman] put together on this one. We hope you enjoy it!"

The song appears on the Connecticut band's upcoming second album The Way It Ends, out June 5 via SharpTone Records.

"The Way It Ends" is the thematic and spiritual successor to Currents' dense, bludgeoning, and smartly constructed full-length debut, "The Place I Feel Safest" (2017), and a direct follow-up to the blistering and diverse EP, "I Let The Devil In" (2018). More...

High Command Posts New Music Video Online

Worcester, Massachusetts-based High Command has just issued an official video for "Merciless Steel", one of the most searing tracks from the band's Southern Lord-released debut LP, "Beyond The Wall Of Desolation."

Released in the Summer of 2019, High Command's "Beyond The Wall Of Desolation" delivers an onslaught of searing thrash / hardcore aggression. The band's ravenous delivery is magnified by the powerful recording courtesy of Machines With Magnets (Daughters, The Body, Lingua Ignota), and mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Integrity, Black Breath).

Surrounding the album's release, High Command torched sectors of the country on tour with the likes of Spirit Adrift, Enforced, and more, and Spring 2020 saw them lined up to tour alongside Ringworm and others when the COVID-19 outbreak halted all plans.

Writes High Command's Ryan McCardle, "We had been planning on doing a big production metal video with swords and the like before the pandemic hit, but then we started going through all the footage we had collected from our first couple tours supporting Beyond The Wall Of Desolation, and we realized we had all this great video of a time that seems almost alien and long ago considering the current state of affairs. Meticulously edited and directed by visual madman Chris O'Coin, the 'Merciless Steel' video is our ode to a community that was of the utmost importance to us and we hope returns someday soon." Voivod To Release New EP

Canadian progressive thrash metal legends Voivod has announced that they will be releasing a new, three track EP entitled, "The End Of Dormancy" on July 10th through Century Media Records. The vinyl will feature the "metal section" of the title track on side A, while the B side will contain a live rendition performed at last year's Montreal Jazz Fest, along with "The Unknown Knows," recorded at the same show. In addition to this, the band has also released a new music video for the title track, which originally appeared on the band's most recent album, "The Wake," which can be seen below. Speaking about the clip, the band stated:

"We've had some hesitations concerning the timing of this video release. This was shot in Nov 2019 & we decided to continue as planned. We've had concerns that some of the imagery may be seen as insensitive during the current circumstances we're facing globally, but this video is in the realm of science-fiction & is special to us." Secrets Of The Moon Welcomes All To "Black House"

We see so much evolution when it comes to black metal. From Venom to Emperor to Behemoth, it's a sub-genre which continues to evolve. While many bands themselves don't change their style too drastically, for others, it's part of growing as artists and musicians to utilise more influences and so it is with Germany's, Secrets Of The Moon. The quartet, founded twenty five years ago in the city of Osnabrück, have gone from being one of the country's best black metal bands to one of its most interesting, incorporating Gothic and progressive elements to create a sound of their own.

Now with a new album, "Black House" available worldwide. I spoke with guitarist AR about the record, the themes it presents, why there was such a big gap in between "Black House" and previous album, "Sun" and much more.

Diamond Oz: Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. It's been five years since your previous album, "Sun." Why was there such a long gap in between albums?

AR: Thank you for your time and interest! It actually took us more than 2 years of constant work on that album. The first recording session started about 2 years ago, after that we took about a year working on arrangements and details in the studio. With the mixed blessing of working out of my own studio, we had the chance to revisit the songs over the time. After all, I think Black House profited from having a very thought through production. The year after we spent planning/ realizing the quite ambitious visual concept of the album.

It's a strange feeling now to share these songs after working on it for such a long time in private with the public. Suddenly they are not only ours anymore.

Oz: What makes "Black House" different from "Sun"?

AR: That's something that lies in the eye of the beholder and something that I don't want to influence too much with my point of view.

I've listened to “Sun” a few days ago for the first time in years and I became quite surprised about its intensity. It was an incredibly spontaneous album, we were all very struck by personal experiences at that time and I hear that in the songs. You can't plan an album like that, it's as if something spoke through us. “Black House”, on the contrary feels more like an architecture. We knew before what it should become. It bears more of a deeply personal message from us. If “Sun” was possessive, “Black House” is very obsessive.
