Vulvodynia Reveals New Album Details

An unending sea of carnage, a God-turned-beast devouring everything within its path, an epic, sprawling tale of the consumption of galaxies and their inhabitants - and the duality of battling deities that takes place to bring the reign of Praenuntius to an end. What does this all mean? Simply put, it means Vulvodynia - South Africa’s premium death metal export - are back with "Praenuntius Infiniti," their fourth full-length release and a label signing to boot. Completing the tale established in their critically acclaimed 2015 EP "Finis Omnium Ignorantiam," "Praenuntius Infiniti" is one hour of flesh-melting, bone-busting death metal, infused with slamming elements and spine-shrinking breakdowns that capture the very crux of heavy, intense music. Produced by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy), the band’s Unique Leader Records debut displays Vulvodynia’s continued maturation and incorporation of melodic, technical and hyper aggressive elements into their backbone of brutal slamming death metal, to achieve what stands as their most diverse, engaging and immolating offer to date.

Vulvodynia has also released a new single/lyric video "The Shadowy Descent of Gaia," and announced the release of new album Praenuntius Infiniti, out 17th September via Unique Leader Records. The video can be seen below.

The band comment on signing to Unique Leader: "We're extremely excited to announce signing to the legendary label Unique Leader Records. Joining this label has been a dream for us since the band first started and it feels incredible to be on such an insane roster."

On new album Praenuntius Infiniti, they continue: "This album really takes the Vulvodynia sound to the next level and incorporates some new genre styles that we grew up on such as tech and melodeath. It was an incredible challenge writing and recording this album during a pandemic, but we put our hearts and souls into this release and we're honoured to present an album that we're extremely proud of."

On the concept, the band conclude: "'Praenuntius Infiniti' tells the story of an interdimensional godlike being and his quest for ultimate power. After being cast out into the abyss by the elder Gods, Praenuntius begins devouring all of the known Multiverse on his journey to divine omnipotence. At the end of our 2015 release 'Finis Omnium Ignorantiam' the earth gets eaten and travels through centuries of darkness down his gullet into the eternal wasteland of galaxies. The heavens are slowly torn asunder as the Gods scramble for a plan to defeat him. Battles rage and drama unfolds as the earth and other planets within his belly try to fight off the ruthless invasion of his spawn. Shall the Gods prevail or shall Praenuntius devour all!?" More...

New Heavy Sounds are excited and very proud to announce the signing of heavy stoner four piece from Bologna, Italy, Tenebra to the NHS family. The label comment,

"We have been keeping an eye on these guys for a while now because they truly rock, and we are looking forward to bringing you their new album. If you like fuzz soaked, occult tinged, 70’s styled proto metal, topped off by proper fiery, yet gritty and soulful vocals, you are in for a treat. Be aware though, this is no retro band, but a serious outfit with invention, fire and a contemporary take on their roots."

The band have this to say:
"We are ultramega happy to announce that we have signed with New Heavy Sounds. We share roots, passions and perspectives with them. We can't wait for you to hear our next album!"

Stoner Announces UK/Ireland Tour Dates

US rock trio Stöner have announced a UK & Ireland headline tour in April & May 2022 as well as an appearance at Desertfest London. This news follows the release of their live album Live in the Mojave Desert, out now via Heavy Psych Records.

Stöner are Brant Bjork (guitar/vocals), Nick Oliveri (bass/vocals) and Ryan Gut (drums).
From flowing epic jams to all-out punk blasts, by name alone it’s safe to say they know
what they are doing. It ain’t anybody’s first time at the dance, you don’t call your band
Stöner from lack of experience.

Stöner, however straight-ahead their moniker, encompass varied styles and the
songwriting of Bjork and Oliveri – both founders of Kyuss, also Mondo Generator, Ché, Fu
Manchu, Bloodclot, as well as Oliveri’s position as bassist / vocalist on the most
celebrated Queens Of The Stone Age albums from 1998-04. Atop the classic-style swing
and flow from Gut (also of Bjork’s solo band), Stöner keep it casual and wear the name
as only those who helped create the sound could.

Brant Bjork commented: "One of the first things Nick, Güt and myself wanted to do when we got Stöner together was to get over to the UK and Ireland. Good things come to those who
ROCK. See you all soon."

The tour dates are as follows: More...

Draconian Releases "The Sethian" Music Video

Gothic doom metal symbiosis Draconian just unveiled a new official video for their hauntingly beautiful hymn, "The Sethian," cut from their latest chart-breaking album, Under A Godless Veil (2020). Along with a bewitching official video that captures the melancholic identity of the song and transfers it to screen, the song is a gate into another mesmerizing sonic dimension.

Vocalist and lyricist Anders Jacobsson comments:
"The writing of 'The Sethian' started with Johan being inspired by a Nordic folksong. As the song transpired it mutated into a range of different variables and a quite different for being a Draconian song. From bombastic and brutal, from doomy sadness to gothic soundscapes. The instrumentation and the vocal arrangements are poignant and commanding, something that marks 'The Sethian' as one - if not the most well-received song of our new album." More...

Scar Of The Sun Keeps Moving With "Inertia"

A lot can change over the course of sixteen years. Just think how different the world was back in 2005, when George Bush and Tony Blair were seen as the "at least it'll never be worse than them" leaders and the metal community was waiting with baited breath for the new Slayer album where we could hear Dave Lombardo back in the fold at last. For one band starting out in the Greek capital of Athens, Scar Of The Sun, their journey was just beginning. Starting out in the mold of such bands as Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride, over time they themselves would cite new influences and forge a different sound along with it.

Fast forward to 2021 and Scar Of The Sun are only three days away from unleashing, "Inertia," their third full length album, which sees the Gothic and metalcore blend expanded even further. With its stunning artwork, socially charged lyrics and pulverising sound, "Inertia" promises to be one of the premier Greek metal albums of the year. To find out everything I could about "Inertia," how the band came to sign with Napalm Records, the effect of the pandemic and even the financial crisis which rocked Greece from 2008 until the present day, I caught up with vocalist Terry Nikas. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
