Withered To Release New Album In June

Tortured blackened death masters Withered will release their new full-length, "Verloren," on June 25 via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The devastating first single, "By Tooth in Tongue," is available now along with an intense and disturbing music video accompaniment, which was created by Guilherme Henriques. Listen and watch below!

The band states: "'By Tooth In Tongue' addresses the designed oppression/control this existence imposes upon each of us to encourage conformity. How the raw nature you gift yourself when plucked from the abyss is suppressed and going to the lengths required to honor your true self and release it into the world.

"We hope you enjoy it. as with any new music from us, there are plenty of twists/turns and new stylings introduced."

With an impressive body of work fanned out over the course of 18 years and five albums which have weathered as many trends, Withered continues to confound and refuses to compromise. New album "Verloren" is the Atlanta quartet's most daring and iconoclastic work yet, one that spits in the eye of complacency and exists as a contrarian masterstroke.

"Verloren" translates to "missing" from German and demonstrates a topical uniqueness; one that discusses the stuff everyone from the steeliest of black metal cape wearers to the gore-obsessed death metal crushers and everyone playing in a band or not has had to - or will have to - confront at some point. By leveling the elitist playing field so often found in extreme metal underground attitudes, "Verloren" offers a more holistic experience, elevating Withered by being unafraid to discuss topics that fly in the face of what most would connect to the sounds they make.

Tracklisting:

1. By Tooth In Tongue
2. The Predation
3. Dissolve
4. Casting In Wait
5. Passing Through…
6. ...The Long Hurt
7. Verloren
8. From Ashen Shores More...

Crypta Reveals Debut Album Details

Just recently signed with Napalm Records, Crypta offers a raging sonic monster in a class of its own: the newly staffed Brazilian/Dutch death metal unit is set to drop jaws with their long-awaited debut offering, "Echoes Of The Soul," to be released on June 11, 2021 via Napalm Records.

Formed in June 2019, the four-piece line up consists of vocalist and bassist Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto on drums (both former members thrash metal frontrunners Nervosa), plus supremely talented guitarists Sonia Anubis (Cobra Spell, Ex-Burning Witches) and Tainá Bergamaschi (Ex-Hagbard). They enforce a heightened level of potency and experience from their successful past and current projects, enhancing influences from both classic and modern death metal genres, plus significant extreme and black metal elements, to create a sound of their own.
Positioned right at the burning gates of death metal salvation, their first single and music video, "From The Ashes," already showcases the demonic, captivating power of the hard-hitting combo.

Singer and bassist Fernanda Lira says about the first single:
"The song is basically about the well-known tale of the phoenix, but in a more philosophical sense. It talks about the ever-changing cycles of life, about the many endings and beginnings we have to go through, about how many old versions of ourselves need to figuratively die in order for us to keep growing and evolving as human beings, and finally, about building resilience to endure all these rebirths."

The first audiovisual work immediately takes the viewer into the funeral spectra of Crypta’s universe and also reveals full commitment on a cinematographic level. The track itself is an infernal omen of the album's sinister stories and already presents a first spark of their impressive interplay: Lira’s forceful vocals, Anubis and Bergamaschi’s bold axe attacks and Dametto’s prominent sophisticated drumming summon the phoenix to rise from the ashes - with the last crackle of this debut full-length conjuring screams for more. DIY UPDATE: What You Need To Know Promoting A Show

Live music is coming back! We’re all very excited. However, there are always things that I think we can bear to think about when it comes to promoting shows. I’ve been promoting shows in one capacity or another since I was a teenager, so I wanted to break down the rules that I’ve followed for it to grow.

First and foremost I think it’s important to realize you are the only person who is going to push the show hard, furthermore I think it’s important to make the details about the event painfully clear. If you do that, and then attack on multiple angles for the promotion, you will be much more likely to have a successful show. More...
