Cirith Ungol Reveals New EP Details

On May 28th, Cirith Ungol will release their new EP, Half Past Human, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview, the new single, "Brutish Manchild", can be seen below or at: www.metalblade.com/cirithungol - where the EP can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

- digipak-CD
- 180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
- sheer violet marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 500 copies)
- orange aurora vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
- yellow marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
- picture disc (EU exclusive - limited to 500 copies)
- dark red marbled vinyl (US exclusive)

The globe was ravaged by pandemic in the wake of the release of Cirith Ungol's triumphant reunion album, Forever Black, in April 2020. As time stood still, the band dug deep into their archival crypts, drawing back the veiled mists of history to expose long-forgotten jewels from their storied past. In so doing, the band exhumed four songs written in a bygone era but never properly included as part of their fabled discography. Cirith Ungol swept the dust off these precious relics, summoning long-dead forces back to life. Each song was reimagined for today, injected with a fresh dose of power and vitality while preserving their trademark mysticism and remaining drenched in sinister, apocalyptic energy. Recorded under the watchful eye of producer Armand John Anthony (Night Demon / Bewitcher / Gygax) in the darkness of 2020, Half Past Human promises to be a treasured addition to the music collections of Cirith Ungol's loyal legions. In keeping with tradition, the package is completed by stunning cover art courtesy of acclaimed fantasy artist Michael Whelan, from the original Elric series.

"Half Past Human" tracklisting:

1. Route 666
2. Shelob's Lair
3. Brutish Manchild
4. Half Past Human More...

Accept To Embark On European Tour

Accept have been flying the flag of classic metal for decades, and with their latest album, Too Mean To Die, they have once again proven themselves to be international chart stormers with top 10 placings worldwide. Now, after a long absence due to Corona, they are proud to announce they will finally be returning to European stages in 2022, with their usual driving energy full of irrepressible power. They will be playing the new album Too Mean To Die and the Accept classics.

For decades, Accept have stood for pure metal, great melodies and unforgettable live moments. Their three exceptional guitarists will undoubtedly transform audiences into a surging mass and blow the virus into oblivion. Because, according to Wolf Hoffmann: "We are too mean to die! Weeds do not die! Accept won't let it get them down!"

Guitarist Philip Shouse adds: "The best thing that will happen for us is to go to the airport, get on a plane, fly to you and play a big, fantastic gig."

Accept will be supported in Europe by none other than Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, who unforgettably brought venues around the world to boiling point with Motörhead and stands for pure Rock N Roll. The US speed/thrash wrecking ball veterans Flotsam And Jetsam complete the billing.

Lordi To Release Seven New Albums This Year

Beware, April fools. Lordi announced the release of four albums simultaneously - of course this is not going to happen, that would be insane. But actually not insane enough for Lordi. The reality is that Lordi is releasing seven (7!) new studio albums in October. No joke, not kidding.

Mr. Lordi explains: "Within a week when the Killectour was cut short in March 2020, I realized we're gonna have to use the sudden extra time somehow. It was clear that it is the time to start planning the new album, even though Killection was released not even two months before. I was thinking that the most boring thing we could do after Killection, is to do another basic Lordi album. And I was very much enjoying the different styles of song writing, recording and production on Killection, but another boring idea would have been to do a part 2. Since Killection is a fictional compilation album from a fictional back catalogue that doesn't exist, I got the idea that the only thing that could top that, is to record and release that fictional back catalogue. And until Halloween 2021 the fictional back catalogue will be no longer fictional, it actually will exist... at least for the most part. My original idea was to release 10 albums, but the label said that is insane. But 7 is a number they felt that is somewhat sane, hahahaha!"

So, as for Lordi‘s 11th studio album release, we will not only get the 11th new album, but we'll get the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th album at the same time. What other rock band has done this before? The answer is no other.

The band states: "The albums will sound all different from each other, they're all in different styles and fictional eras in the Killection timeline. 5 of the 7 albums are already done by the way, and number 6 is well on the way."

Be ready for a big bunch of new material from Finland’s shock rockers.

Marianas Rest Discusses New Album "Fata Morgana"

Since the turn of the millennium, Finland has become one of the world's biggest exponents for metal and rock music. We've seen such bands as Nightwish, Children Of Bodom and Korpiklaani emerge as global metal stars this century and there's always a steady stream of amazing music coming from the small nation to guarantee Finland's place as a metal home for years to come. Recently, a sextet from Kotka, the country's twelth biggest city, by the name of Marianas Rest unleashed their third full length album, "Fata Morgana" and praise has beeen coming thick and fast.

This leviathan of a record, deep and dark with plenty of atmosphere, may well be something of a "best of" for the band, combining the greatest elements of the previous two albums, "Horror Vacui" and "Ruins" to forge an extremely heavy slab of metal, which the group claims "embodies the Finnish melancholy." To find out more about the album, I caught up with the band and found out all the details behind, "Fata Morgana," its amazing artwork, the "Glow From The Edge" music video and what exactly "Finnish melancholy" is. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
