Presented by Brooklyn Vegan, the two week trek will showcase one of metal's most bizarre and exotic bands and one that Rolling Stone called "a dynamic articulated hell, like the Tokyo-Blue-Cheer crush of Boris but grounded in the British white-blues nightmares of early Seventies Black Sabbath."

Ides Of Gemini Streaming New Track

Today Pitchfork.com hosts the exclusive premiere of “Starless Midnight” from celestial doom doers Ides of Gemini. The tune comes off of the eclectic West Coast trio’s forthcoming new full-length, "Constantinople." Called “darkly beautiful” by Pitchfork, the nine-track offering was produced by Ides of Gemini and engineered and mixed by Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Skeletonwitch) at Sunset Lodge Recording in Los Angeles.

Notes guitarist/backing vocalist J. Bennett of the first single: “‘Starless Midnight’ was the last song written for Constantinople, but it might be our current favorite. I wrote the music while flat on my back on a sofa bed because I couldn't walk at the time -- long story. I nicked the title from a line in Martin Luther King's Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, which he delivered in Oslo, Norway, on December 10, 1964. The lyrics have nothing to do with Dr. King, though. They were written by [vocalist/bassist] Sera, who I'm sure would prefer to leave the meaning open to interpretation. But I think I can safely say that it's a song about being in the dark."

Dubbed "The Leads Are Weak," the mini clips offer playing tips and an up-close look at Sannicandro's skills and technique. In the third installment, Sannicandro performs an exercise called “double dutch.” Sannicandro elaborates: "This is a two-note per string lick that incorporates a slight Dimebag feel and some chromatics. Two notes per string is often neglected by many guitar players, because three notes a string is much easier to get up to speed, but two note patterns are an OG way to put some bluesy flavor in your lick-age." Toad Issues Tour Recap

Arizona metal militia TOAD has returned to its homeland of Phoenix after a two-week migration through the Rocky Mountains and across the southern United States. The following press release was issued about the trek and regarding the band writing new material:

"To say TOAD's journey was a success would be an understatement. Old friends were revisited, new allies were formed, and TOAD's rotten gospel was delivered on a nightly basis to receptive congregations. Upon their return to the desert, TOAD immediately delved back into the writing process in preparation for the next album. TOAD's new music is an expansion and improvement upon the themes prevalent in last year's Rotten Tide, which continues to reap critical acclaim from critics and fans alike. These latest songs are the results of a more mature, driven, and aggressive band. Once the record is finished, TOAD plans on continuing its Eastern expansion to the Atlantic coast, and beyond. Take Over And Destroy.

"A maniacal six-piece, TOAD formed in 2008 and has rapidly evolved into a complex entity. TOAD's sound is hardly definable but rather a divine amalgamation of and elaboration upon all things heavy within the last four decades of rock music. Though obviously influenced by the Scandinavian death and black metal movements of the 1990s, the band ensures that every song pulsates with the groove established by metal's forefathers - bands like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. With the addition of former Slut Sister and Drone Throne guitarist Alex Bank Rollins, and the replacement of original guitarist Danny Labarbera by former Queen Beast member Nate Garrett, the band has solidified a group that is road-ready and unstoppable in both its creative output and self-promotion. Rounding out the lineup are original members Andy Leemont on vocals, Shane Taylor on drums, Trey Edwin on bass, and Pete Porter on organ. TOAD strive to be at the forefront of the progression of the genre."

In the meantime, check out live footage from the band’s stop in Fayetteville, Arkansas last month below. More...

Nervecell Releases New Music Video

Nervecell has now officially released a new video for "Shunq (To The Despaired…King Of Darkness)" featuring Karl Sanders (Nile) on guest vocals. The song appears on Nervecell's latest album "Psycogenocide" released on Lifeforce Records (Europe) & Spellbind Records (Middle East). The video was shot in the city of Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates, directed by Shane De Almeida and edited by Ahmad Al Sharif.

Commented the band: "This particular song is special to the band as it will mark the first extreme metal track ever to include both Arabic lyrics mixed in with English lyrics, and who better else to have come on board and collaborate on this theme with us than the legendary Karl Sanders!

"The word 'Shunq' in Arabic has two meanings: to choke or to be hung by the neck. The song consists mainly of ideas and knowledge gathered from sources that speak about Lucifer and the demons that serve him. The song speaks about the battle of us humans and these demons in reality, in the end Satan himself brought forth to justice." More...

Jim Marshall: The Legend Who Shaped Heavy Music

When light hits the stage even before the band does, theres only one thing that signifies you are about to have your face ripped off by a literal wall of sound. You see it in almost every huge rock and metal arena show. Its a vision pursued by any musician who dreams of playing live, and playing loud. As a kid I gazed at the stage in wonder, mesmerized at these giant black boxes stacked on top of one another. As soon as the band started playing, you could swear everything you heard was coming from these giant stacks of sound. They stood out almost as a member of the band themselves. All thats is left after the show ends, is a snapshot taken by your memory. The image of the band on stage, and the image of a giant stack of amplifiers with one name draped across the front, Marshall. More...

Brazilian metallers Almah have issued the following statement about the departure of guitarist Paulo Schroeber due to health problems:

"Dear Almah friends and fans! I think many of you already know about health problems that our brother, partner and member of the band, Paulo Schroeber, has recently faced. "The last fully-completed Arsis song I contributed to was 'Since The Shadows' (released online last year), and it's one of my favorites. ZP Theart Announces New Band I AM I

Ex-DragonForce vocalist ZP Theart announced his return with new band I AM I. The band will release its debut LP "Event Horizon" on May 26, 2012, exclusively on USB stick through the official website, and make its live debut on May 27, 2012 at O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

In addition to Theart, the band features drummer Paul Clark (Manowar deputy drummer on 2011 European tour), guitarist Jacob Ziemba and Neil Salmon on bass. In late April, the band will post a promo video for the track "Silent Genocide" as a taster.

"Event Horizon" will mark the first ever Heavy Metal album to be released solely on USB. According to the band "[a]s the major record labels are almost certainly going to cease production of compact discs by the end of 2012, I AM I are one step ahead of the game by releasing this groundbreaking album in a groundbreaking format."

Tickets for the 27th May debut show at Birmingham's O2 are limited to 600 and will also be available from the Official I AM I site next week. 600 special commemorative t-shirts will be produced for the gig and are an exclusive free gift for fans who buy tickets. The shirts will be numbered and will correspond with the ticket number and are sure to become collector's items.

Theart commented on the new album: "It's an album of message. It's about past meeting future and everything in between. It's about warnings for the current generation not to go down the same road in the future as we are doing now as that will surely secure our demise. To see and not to perceive, to hear and not to listen, is the downfall of all...

"It's a new age of enlightenment and there's a lot of messages in the songs that will hopefully kickstart a few people who are slow on the uptake.

"My whole career has been leading up to this point and I've never been more proud of anything in my life and this album will definitely live up to it's name." More...

The name of new ALMAh’s guitarist will be revealed soon, together with announcement of new ways of the band and tour dates for 2012. The band’s “philosophy” to create music for the sake of music in friendship and fun will always be our priority.

Thanks for all,
Edu Falaschi
