Rings Of Saturn Dropped By Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast, one of the biggest record companies in metal music, has announced that they have today dropped deathcore band Rings Of Saturn from the label. A statement from the company reads as follows:

"Nuclear Blast has a long-standing history of supporting its artists, treating them with the utmost respect and integrity. This included Lucas Mann and Rings Of Saturn. Nuclear Blast is proud to provide this support and strives to make all its artists feel comfortable that they have a transparent, honest relationship with their label.

"Sadly, Lucas Mann on behalf of Rings Of Saturn has brazenly threatened to issue public statements “condemning Nuclear Blast in the strongest terms possible” if the label does not give in to his baseless demands. While Nuclear Blast is truly shocked and saddened by Lucas Mann’s actions, Nuclear Blast also does not tolerate threats. Accordingly, Rings Of Saturn have been dropped from the label."

More details will almost certainly be revealed soon.

At The Gates Posts New Music Video Online

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers, At The Gates, are now launching the first single off their upcoming album, "The Nightmare Of Being," out July 2 via Century Media Records, to enhance today’s album pre-order start. Watch the video for "Spectre Of Extinction" below, and pre-order the new album here.

Tomas Lindberg Redant commented about "Spectre Of Extinction," a track which features a guest lead-guitar appearance by King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque, and its video clip, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus / www.rEvolver.se (Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.), as follows:

"It is always very hard to choose which song to release to the public first, especially with this album having so many layers and textures. We did feel, however, that this, the opening track of the record, represented the overall feel of the album. It has the musical depths that you would expect from an At The Gates track, and still carries that intensity and urgency that we have always tried to get across with our music.

"For the video, it was wonderful to be able to continue the work with the mighty Patric Ullaeus, as he understands our vision with the music and is willing to go all the way to portray the song’s inner dimensions. I think he did that excellently with this one and I’m very proud of the result. The lyrics deal with humanity’s will and how that clashes with our consciousness, and our knowledge of our mortality. Enjoy!" More...

Gojira Shares New Music Video

Gojira have released their new album, "Fortitude," which which is available today on all streaming platforms with physical copies available widely in store, online, and at gojira-music.com.

Today, the band has also shared an official music video for "The Chant." Written / conceived by the band’s own Joe Duplantier and directed by Russell Brownley, the cinematic video was filmed on location in India’s West Bengal region in December of 2019. It examines the plight of refugee children from Tibet who fled their homeland in an attempt to preserve their culture following China’s invasion of the country in 1949.

Duplantier commented on the significance of the video stating, "This work is inspired by the reading of Tenzin Tsundue’s poetry. A righteous Tibetan activist, that describes the cultural genocide perpetrated on its people. We’ve always been sensitive to the Tibetan struggle. One of the wisest and most compassionate traditions, victim of the worst human rights violations imaginable since its invasion in 1949. Tibetan culture inspired many of our lyrics and had a deep impact on our approach of philosophy and art in general. Our thoughts go out to all Tibetans. We’re hoping that we’ll see their land free from oppression in our lifetime."

The centrepiece of an album-long call to action, "The Chant" is a slow-burning track featuring some of Gojira’s most melodic material to date. Where past anthems were driven by nuanced dynamics and technical guitar arrangements, "The Chant" is a self-described “healing ritual” emanating primordial warmth, culminating in a harmony-stacked chorus that bridges the gap between ancient hymnals and contemporary rock. Former Judas Priest Drummer Passes Away

In an Instagram post shared last night, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has confirmed that the band's former drummer John Hinch, who he also worked with during his pre-Priest days in Hiroshima, has passed away. He was seventy three years old.

Hinch joined the band along with Halford in May 1973, shortly before Glen Tipton joined them to round up the lineup. Hinch performed drums on the debut album, "Rocka Rolla" and could be seen playing drums when Judas Priest appeared on the legendary music show, The Old Grey Whistle Test. In addition to drumming, Hinch also worked as the road manager and driver for the band. More...

Bloodbound Posts New Lyric Video Online

May 28th will see Swedish power metal force, Bloodbound, release their hotly anticipated, ninth studio album entitled "Creatures Of The Dark Realm" via AFM Records. "Creatures Of The Dark Realm" descends with scarcely two years gone since "Rise Of The Dragon Empire" was unleashed. The three-headed songwriting team of keyboardist Fredrik Bergh, guitarist Tomas Olsson and vocalist Patrik Selleby started from scratch, compiling song ideas they collected individually and finally ending up with 11 solid in-your-face tracks kicked off by a deceptive acoustic intro. On paper, "Creatures Of The Dark Realm" satisfies all the requirements of what makes a power metal band, but the listening experience is one of epic proportions. Not a single ballad in sight, the new album is an-up-tempo assault, offering heavy groove anthems and straight ahead, blistering power metal at its best!

After the previously- released singles, "When Fate Is Calling" as well as just recently, the epic album title track, today the Swedish six- piece has unleashed a lyric video for the heavy as hell, new single "March Into War!" More...

Burning Witches Releases New Music Video

Today, heavy metal coven Burning Witches are proud to release not only the title track of their upcoming new studio album, "The Witch Of The North," but also their first ever high-quality music video to go along with it. And they couldn't have chosen a better date for the release of this new single; it coincides with Walpurgis Night, the traditional night of the witches, deeply rooted in Central and Northern European folklore.

While the song "The Witch Of The North" showcases Burning Witches at their heaviest and features their most anthemic chorus to date, its music video brings the stunning album artwork by Claudio Bergamín to life. Witness the forest witch conjure a demon warrior out of the flames and lead it into battle. Sorcery, swordplay, fire and blood - it doesn't get more METAL than this!

Burning Witches comment on the video:
"It was a big dream for us, to finally produce a video clip with an acclaimed company like Grupa 13 and a bit of a bigger budget. The title track of the new album was the perfect song to transpose visually, it is not a typical single, it is more of an epic grower. This way we have visually reflected the song for eternity! We hope you will love it as much as we do!"

Happy Walpurgis Night! More...

Fractal Universe Reveals New Album Details

On June 25th, Fractal Universe will release their new album, The Impassable Horizon, via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, a video for the new single, "A Clockwork Expectation" (directed by Vincent Tournaud), can be viewed below or at: www.metalblade.com/fractaluniverse - where The Impassable Horizon can be pre-ordered on CD, vinyl, as well as digitally.

Shot at Gouffre de Poudrey - France's largest equipped cave - Fractal Universe had this to say about the video for "A Clockwork Expectation": "We wanted this music video to be shot in a grandiose natural environment. It was a unique and unreal experience to spend two days all alone in the extreme conditions - seventy meters underground, 7°C - of this otherworldly beautiful location. In the middle section, we used UV light and customized the instruments accordingly, to give that part a particular dark vibe! The body-painting parts contributing to that atmosphere were designed by Kazim 2C."

With 2019's Rhizomes Of Insanity, France's Fractal Universe created one of the most musically, lyrically, and emotionally complex and compelling progressive metal works of the twenty-first century. The band toured the record hard, joining heavyweights Obscura in February/March of 2020, making for one of the last tours in the world pre-pandemic, and in doing so, sated their faithful while winning legions of new followers. With its successor, The Impassable Horizon, they have gone even deeper, effortlessly following the trajectory they set themselves on to create an album that is riveting from start to finish. "We wanted to keep developing our musical personality and the natural sound we managed to get on 'Rhizomes'," says drummer Clément Denys. "It's a very versatile and complex album. Musically speaking, you will find catchy songs which are really direct, progressive and mysterious ballads with epic saxophone solos, and technical songs with intricate riffing." Elaborates vocalist/guitarist/saxophonist Vince Wilquin, "despite the record being even more diverse, dynamic and including more clean vocals than its predecessor, the overall atmosphere is also slightly darker and more melancholic." And with the introduction of Wilquin's newly honed saxophone skills to their live set, alongside working with Gojira's Christian Andreu on their stage scenery and production, once the band return to the road they are sure to be an unmissable act. Flotsam And Jetsam Unveils New Lyric VIdeo

Thrash and speed metal icons Flotsam And Jetsam have seen many of their peers that started at the same time, including Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Venom have their day in the sun. Considered in metal circles as “legendary”, the mighty Flotsam And Jetsam, over their long career, has seemed somewhat plagued by label snafus, changes in trends, or other unfortunate events. On album number fourteen, and without a doubt making the best music of their career, Flotsam And Jetsam finally smells blood in the water this time around.

Slated for a release on June 4, 2021 through AFM Records, "Blood In The Water" literally shreds the listener’s ears and pummels Flotsam And Jetsam’s message into the hearts of the most diehard metal fans, the album must be heard to be believed. Featuring twelve brutal and powerful tracks that will rip your head off, the outstanding guitar work of Michael Gilbert and these killer vocals by Eric AK – one of the most gifted metal singers in music history – Flotsam And Jetsam's "Blood In The Water" will see the band deliver one of their heaviest records to date!

With the unveiling of the previously-released single “Burn The Sky”, Flotsam And Jetsam gave a first and impressive sneak peak of their forthcoming album. Now, the thrash heavy weights have unleashed the thunderous album opener and title track with a brand new video! "Blood In The Water" let’s you know right off that these guys aren’t messing around as the song comes screaming out of the speakers with a frenzied rhythm section, these passionated vocals by AK and guitars blazing on ten!

"This last year was a very different year for many of us, and we will say that the tragedy and difficulty had an impact on this song and this new album." Says drummer Ken Mary. ""Blood In The Water" is one of the most aggressive Flotsam songs ever, but that wasn't planned. We just tried to pour everything we were feeling into each song. We didn't want to analyze it or qualify it, and we just let the song be what it was going to be. What you're hearing is the result of what I'd say is the closest you can get to looking at the inside of Flotzilla's brain!" More...

Dordeduh Shares New Song

Dordeduh have released another stunning new track "În vieli?tea uitarii" ("In the Storm of Oblivion") as the third single taken from their sensational forthcoming album "Har" ("Gifted"), which has been scheduled for release on May 14, 2021. You can check out the song below.

"We have always aimed at presenting our message in the most impersonal way possible", explains frontman Edmond "Hupogrammos" Karban. "This concept has grown out of our black metal roots and we kept it. This has somewhat changed on 'Har' as I have begun to insert my personal perspective and how I have personally experienced these impersonal truths in my life. 'În vieli?tea uitarii' is the song that for me feels the most personal on this album. It captures the lows and the highs, the despair and loneliness of the one, who lost his connection with life, with the spirit. Yet on the other hand, this song also shows the strength, confidence, and perseverance of the one, who regained this connection and life flows in his veins again. For me personally it's a very deep and dramatic song. I hope, you will find and feel some of this in it too.'' More...

Urne Posts New Music Video Online

London metal trio Urne have released a studio video for current single "Desolate Heart," taken from their upcoming debut album "Serpent & Spirit," set for release on 25th June via Candlelight Records.

Capturing the atmosphere of the Serpent & Spirit recording sessions, watch the video to "Desolate Heart" below.

The video footage was filmed by guitarist Angus Neyra during the Serpent & Spirit recording sessions in Oct 2020 at Foel Studio in Wales, with Chris Fielding on engineering duties.

Bassist / vocalist Joe Nally commented: "We wanted to capture the feel of the studio itself as its in such a remote location, and every day the valley would fill with fog and silence. At night the only light comes from the moon and stars completely unpolluted. It's an incredible place to record and we feel it helped set the mood for the album."

On "Desolate Heart," Joe continues: "The song 'Desolate Heart' had been in the making years before Urne actually formed, but was never completed."

During the writing process for Serpent & Spirit, Joe found an old demo of the first few minutes of the track, and instantly knew it had to be finished. "Desolate Heart" subsequently became the first single released from the album. More...

Decapitated To Release Demos Collection

Stirring the internet recently with mysterious cassette tapes posted across their socials, Decapitated put an end to the speculation today - on June 4th, the Polish tech death metal virtuosos will release their early demos in a carefully handpicked collection called "The First Damned."

Pre-order the album in various editions here:

Officially released via Nuclear Blast for the first time, Decapitated's early demos have not been remixed, remastered or messed with in any way. Instead, this is a blistering snapshot of four young men with fire in their bellies and a bright future ahead of them.

Vogg states:
"For some of you, the story behind these demos might be an awesome way to learn about the band or refresh your memory on our history. Demo tape is at the core of the band’s DNA and when I think about it now, I am really surprised that we were able to record both demos at such a young age.

"I am excited that it was possible to work on this release with a great team and deliver something for our die-hard fans. 'The First Damned' is unique, with an awesome layout and bio, which some of you might not be familiar with.

"If it wasn’t for Sauron who came up with the idea of starting a band, my brother Vitek who played drums at the age of 12, and Martin who had the idea of going to the studio to record those tracks - there wouldn’t be a band called Decapitated. We were just a bunch of young guys who were inspired by thrash and death metal.

"Now, with the help of great people: Dom Lawson, Micah Ulrich, Marcelo Vasco, and all the team who worked on this release, we were able to create - in my opinion - a cool design and honouring the true demo cassette vibe.

"For the first time this record will be released on LP, and we couldn’t of course forget about cassettes, which are another cool way to keep the memories alive. We didn’t change anything with the sound. We took the sound from the original DAT masters, so it’s the real, organic sound of the music we recorded back in the days. I hope you will enjoy it the same way I do." More...
