Burning Darkness Signs With Non Serviam Records

Swedish black metal powerhouse Burning Darkness has joined the Dutch extreme metal label Non Serviam Records and will release their sophomore full-length album, "Dödens Makt" in July.

The band states: "We are very happy to announce that we've signed to Non Serviam Records who will be releasing our new album Dödens Makt. The collaboration of NSR and Burning Darkness have the makings of becoming a mutually advantageous one. The label has proved to have an eye for digging up great upcoming bands and putting them in their spotlight. We have been making our relentless Swedish black metal for a long time and we think our new album is our absolutely strongest work yet. It is with great confidence we release it via NSR. Our old supporters are sure to be pleased and we're certain we'll gain many new fans with this new release. NSR's prior work with other bands tells us the album will get the exposure it deserves. Furthermore, the integrity of picking bands for their roster should ensure metal fans of the quality of our music."

Ricardo Gelok, Non Serviam Records owner, adds: "I have known Burning Darkness for years. The drummer and me were talking a while ago, and he told me that the band was recording a new album. So I asked him to send me a promo when all was recorded. After receiving the new songs the label offered the band a deal. It’s a real pleasure to work with a band like Burning Darkness, they are eager to get their fans hear this new opus."

Vexed Posts New Music Video Online

Fast-rising UK based upstarts Vexed have been checking off boxes as the next big name in aggressive-yet-progressive modern metal, and have just released one of their most ruthless offerings yet: the gut-punching, absorbing third single "Misery." The standout single is cut from the band’s upcoming album, "Culling Culture," out May 21 via Napalm Records.

On their third offering, the four-piece fluctuates between grooving, ethereal leads and destructive, airtight riffs, technically adept drumming and vocalist Megan Targett’s undeniably dynamic, haunting vocal power. As their new music video clearly refers to absolution via its striking visual content, the track’s lyrics reflect a reckoning with the past, mirroring the intensely personal themes of the upcoming album.

Vexed on the new single:
"Anxiety is a demon powerful enough to posses anyone and can leave the strongest of us feeling helpless. 'Misery' is an inner monologue of an anxiety riddled mind constantly overanalysing and catastrophising. Taking inspiration from a spectrum of genres, this track is a true musical representation of how drastically our thoughts can change from one moment to the next, often ending in confusion and 'Misery.'" Domkraft Releases New Single

Swedish psychedelic doom-riffers Domkraft crank up the heat and let those sizzling guitars fry hard on the third single "Audiodome" taken from their highly-anticipated third full-length "Seeds", which is scheduled for release on April 30.

The track "Audiodome" is now available to hear below.

Domkraft comments: "The theme of the entire album is about starting over", explains singer and bass player Martin Wegeland. "It fells like waking up after a cold shower only to discover you're basically walking in ruins. There are new constructions, but nothing of real value. It is all about short-term fixes, no thoughts of longevity, since our perspectives have narrowed down so much. We need to get back to the core, to something that unites rather than divides us. And we need outlets of inspiration and well-being. Hence the 'Audiodome' concept. A new breed of sacred places, where music, tones and notes can exist freely for the enjoyment and well-being of every person. And, in a wider context, with the pandemic and all, a dive bar with a PA could be an 'Audiodome'. It’s more about what it provides than what it is. Ideally, unity, well-being and enrichment. And that's what this song celebrates. We also wanted the album to have a really intense closing track. And when we came up with and combined the two main riffs, this song basically wrote itself. It starts off in this intense and driving pace, dissolves into cosmic euphoria and ends off with some sweet low-end goodness, to fill the very dome we are talking about. And, in that aspect, 'Audiodome' pretty much sums up what the album is all about." More...

Unearthing The Metal Underground: Malgoth

A quick glance at the band’s history may suggest that the folks involved in Malgoth aren’t serious about their belligerent war metal. Their vocalist, one “ZS” has been a member of such bands as Chamber of Farts and The One-eyed Muskrats, however the proof is in the pudding, and Malgoth’s music speaks for itself. The Toronto, Ontario, Canada-base act has been in existence for a year, and its “Primordial Dawn” EP that was initially released independently at the end of 2020 digitally has been picked up by the stalwart, tried-and-true war metal-friendly label Iron Bonehead Productions. With “Primordial Dawn,” Malgoth showcases a savage two-vocal attack that leads the charge of the kind of war metal that has a great deal in common with raw grindcore.

Interview

Evile Prepares To Unleash Hell

Thrash metal first emerged in the 1980s as the perfect answer to glam metal. The blend of the NWOBHM sound and hardcore punk created a revolution which is still being felt in metal to this day, with the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, Kreator and Testament still selling out venues the world over. Though the nineties put a dampener on thrash, and metal in general, it came roaring back in the new milennium, with young metal musicians leading a new wave which earned plaudits and praise. At the front of this battalion was Huddersfield's own, Evile, one of the most acclaimed and popular bands of the new wave with four albums under their belt.

Fast forward to 2021 and a fifth album is finally just around the corner. Now with a new lineup, "Hell Unleashed" promises to be the most vicious and ferocious record in their discography and marks something of a rebirth for the band. Founding guitarist Ol Drake has not only returned to the fold, but taken over vocal duties, while guitarist Adam Smith makes his Evile recording debut. To find out more about the album, the lineup changes, working with metalhead comedian Brian Posehn, getting in contact with British comedy star Bill Bailey and much more, I spoke with drummer Ben Carter, the only member of the band to appear on every release. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
