Ultimatium Shares New Music Video

Finland power proggers, Ultimatium, are sharing their new music video,, "Digital Tower" in support of their epic theme album Virtuality, released this past November via Rockshots Records.

The band comments on the track: "'Digital Tower' is a very aggressive, but low-tempo song, the heaviest and most symphonic song we've ever made. The song is heavily influenced by these three songs: Rainbow - Stargazer / Stratovarius - Season of Change / Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell. And shows the full potential of the character sang by Jukka Nummi. As seen on the video, this song has very special meaning for Jukka since Matti gave him the full artistic freedom to use his Ronnie James Dio-vocalising style at full strength." More...

Chalice Of Sin Reveals Debut Album Details

Chalice Of Sin is a sensational new heavy metal machine masterminded by vocalist Wade Black (Crimson Glory, Seven Witches, Leatherwolf), who hooked up with powerhouse producer Alessandro Del Vecchio after sharing songs he had been working on with the Frontiers label. Joined by guitarist Martin Jepsen Andersen and drummer Mirkko De Maio, their resulting debut album is an excellent slab of classic metal akin to Savatage, Crimson Glory and Metal Church.

"Myself and my writing partner Rich Marks had a grand vision of how we wanted to approach this record," explains Black. "Our inspiration came from many sources, but especially things that have affected the world over the last year, plus the challenges we face as humanity and the hardships that come with it. Given the opportunity to work with this group of talented musicians, the planets aligned and together we have created a stellar record that we are all very proud to be a part of. We hope that everyone enjoys the album as much as we enjoyed creating it!"

In regard to their eponymous first single, Black adds: "As a whole, it is more of a statement that people in all standings in life go through hard times, no matter if you are a King or a commoner. The temptation to do the wrong thing is always there. It is like the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other analogy. It's not the problem, it’s how you solve it." More...

Van Canto Releases New Music Video

The world's most exciting acapella metal masters Van Canto return with their energetic and unique Rakkatakka-power and are set to release their highly anticipated, eighth inimitable offering, "To The Power Of Eight," on June 4, 2021 via Napalm Records. Prepare for an outstanding vocal attack as the unit has just dropped the new, rousing single “Falling Down”, along with an official music video today!

Since 2006, Van Canto have delivered pure vocal power to the metal world and prove that heaviness does not necessarily need riffs and bass lines. "Falling Down" takes off at full speed as a stomping, heroic power metal anthem that leaves no muscle inactive. Both male and female vocals are given space to shine, but also harmonize together as one entity.

Van Canto on "Falling Down":
"'Falling Down' is a Van Canto powerhouse, a composition with powerful vocal riffing, endless harmonies and a dramatic arrangement. The lyrics describe the timeless moment of creativity when you feel a melody entering your brain to then materialize into music.

"We put our focus on all the details in the vocal arrangements, tying together Sly's heroic lead voice together with Hagen's rough power and Inga's epic smoothness like an eight-knot. 'Falling Down' combines Van Canto's trademarks and brings them to life by a combination of a rock'n'roll stage environment, on- and off-stage visuals and a lot of Power of Eight and more, thanks to all the people involved! It is inspired by all work Robert Naumann has done in all previous videos of VAN CANTO. Robs, we love you and we miss you." More...

Mudvayne Returns After 12 Year Hiatus

Mudvayne--one of the most creative and distinctive bands in the aggressive music world--has announced that they’re reuniting after a 12-year hiatus, and will be performing at all four Danny Wimmer Presents U.S. festivals in 2021: Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival (a headlining performance) in Ohio, Louder Than Life in Kentucky, Aftershock in California and Welcome To Rockville in Florida. These dates mark the band’s first shows since 2009 and their only dates this year.

Watch the Mudvayne announcement video below.

Mudvayne formed in 1996 and has sold over six million records worldwide, earning Gold certification for three albums (L.D. 50, The End Of All Things To Come, Lost and Found). The band is known for their sonic experimentation, innovative album art, face and body paint, masks and uniforms. Mudvayne is Chad Gray (vocals), Greg Tribbett (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew McDonough (drums, synthesizer) and Ryan Martinie (bass).

Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents recalls, “In our fan surveys, Mudvayne has consistently been one of the most requested bands – even though they weren’t an active band! We’ve been working for years to make this happen, so when I got the call that they’d finally take a meeting, [DWP Executive VP & Talent Buyer] Gary Spivack and I jumped at the chance to fly to Vegas. We sat down for dinner with Mudvayne, their lawyer Eric German, manager Diony Sepulveda and agent Ryan Harlacher – the band hadn’t even been in the same room together for 10 years – and pleaded our case for why the time was right for this to happen. We were hoping to announce this in 2020, we’re fortunate enough to be able to do it in 2021, and DWP is super pumped to have Mudvayne exclusively at all four of our festivals this year.” More...

Cannibal Corpse Posts New Music Video Online

Last week, Cannibal Corpse released their fifteenth studio album, Violence Unimagined, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of Violence Unimagined, a video for the new single, "Necrogenic Resurrection" (directed by David Brodsky / mgenyc.com), can be viewed below.

Comprised of eleven tracks, Violence Unimagined is state of the art death metal played with passion and breathless precision, making for another flawless addition to what is inarguably one of the premier catalogues the genre has thrown up.

"It really follows the path we've been going down for a few years now," states bassist and founding member Alex Webster. "I think we approach the writing in a similar way most every time: each of us try to write the heaviest, most memorable songs we can. We want each song to have its own identifiable character. Showing my age, I like to say you can 'drop the needle' on any point of one of our albums and quickly tell which song you're listening to." More...

Metalium Bassist Killed In Ultralite Crash

Lars Ratz, born Lars Ranzenberger, has died following an aerial accident in which his ultralite crashed near a restaraunt in Mallorca, Spain. He was fifty three years old. The guardia civil is reportedly investigating the incident. More details will follow once they become available.

Ratz began his career as the bassist for power metal band Velvet Viper, with whom he recorded the self-titled debut album and the sophomore "The 4th Quest For Fantasy," before parting company with the band in 1993. He would then join Viva and played on their last album, "Cream Cake Box," in 1996, before forming Metalium in 1998, recruiting such names as Savatage guitarist Chris Caffrey and future Firewind/Brainstorm vocalist Henning Basse.

Chris Caffrey paid tribute to Lars with the following message:

"One of the many discussions I have had during the past year involved reunions and new records from bands I haven’t recorded with in years. You all know the obvious by the posts that have been floating around. One of the others was conversations I had with Henning and Lars Ratz about the possibility of a new Metalium record and festival tour. I had actually began writing songs with this reunion in mind. I am shocked and saddened to have just received the very sad news that Lars Ratz has died today in a small plane crash.

"That first Metalium record was a very huge part of my musical and personal past. Although the situation wasn’t always perfect Lars believed in me and was so proud that he had me there to be a part of that first albums creation and the very first shows. Millennium Metal was a classic record top to bottom.

"Lars loved risks. He kinda lived very heavy metal in many ways. He loved being a pilot. He can now take some of my friends in heaven on some of his flights. Fly with the angels my friend.

"This song was always one of my favorites from this record..." More...
