Israeli metallers Ferium unleashed their debut album Reflections this week via Transcend Music. Previously, we brought you four songs from the release, and now the album is streaming in full exclusively on MetalMouth.net. Check it out at this location. The band has also released a narrated video telling the album's story, which is playing below. Ferium commented upon this unique way of storytelling:

"We felt like this lyric video story would be the perfect alternative interpretation to our debut 'Reflections,' because it sets as the mood perfectly for the whole approach that the album takes lyrically and musically. To absorb the full essence of this album, we believe that if you listen to the story and right after to 'Reflections' itself, the maximum impact of the life-story the protagonist has gone through will be crystal clear."

Exciter Reunites With Original Line-Up

After a series of cryptic announcements via Facebook, the Canadian old school metal pioneers in Exciter have made the announcement that the original trio of John Ricci, Dan Beehler and Allan Johnson will be reuniting and playing their first confirmed gig at the Keep It True Festival on April 24th of 2015. The classic line-up plans to record new material as the first order of business this year.

This announcement comes after a string of conflicting posts made on the Exciter page in the past six weeks. Originally, a status update was posted on Feb. 24th stating that John Ricci was retiring from the band. Ricci vehemently countered that he only wanted to step away to regroup from some unpleasant personnel dealings in the band.

Then on April 4th, a status update appeared saying that bassist Rob 'Clammy' Cohen had been dispatched from the group. Vocalist Kenny 'Motor Mouth' Winter then posted on April 7th about a hiatus he was going to take to work on another project, followed by a post from John Ricci about 'big news' being on the horizon shortly.

Here is the official announcement from John Ricci himself, posted on Exciter's Long Live the Loud page. More...

Malpractice Signs Record Deal

As the label continues to investigate the progressive realms of the heavy metal universe, New Jersey-based Sensory Records confirms that Finnish quintet Malpractice has become the newest addition in the roster. Sensory issued the following statement:

"Formed in 1994 in Kouvola, Finland by guitarist Joonas Koto, Malpractice tarted out as a thrash act. Following the release of self-financed debut MCD, Memorial, in 1996, the band cast aside their most aggressive influences and opted to explore a more progressive direction, which was apparent on their second MCD, Frozen, released later the same year. Without a deal in place, Malpractice recorded an album's worth of material in March 1998, which became their first full length album, Of Shape And Balance, released via Mastervox Records in September of that year.

"Following a brief hiatus, and reactivation in 2004, Malpractice signed with Spinefarm/Universal. This also began the band's cooperation and friendship with producer/engineer, Anssi Kippo at Astia Studio (Children of Bodom, Sinergy, Norther, etc.), with the recording of their second full-length, Deviation From The Flow, and into the 2008 release of their third album, Triangular, which not only expanded their forward-thinking style, also reinvigorated some of their early thrash elements.

"In 2010 the band self-produced their own outstanding demo, which eventually became their fourth album, Turning Tides. As their contract with Spinefarm was expired, the band sought new pastures, and given the more melodic and progressive nature of their style, found solace in Laser's Edge offshoot, Sensory Records, who is now preparing Turning Tides for proper worldwide release this Summer.

"Turning Tides represents Malpractice at their absolute best, combing intricate progressive metal with catchy melodies topped with excellent musicianship and brilliant vocal harmonies, and a must-hear for fans of Queensryche, Fates Warning, Dream Theater and Megadeth."

Final release details on the "Turning Tides" album will be released in the near future.

In Flames Reveals New Album Title

Following a months-long, rather sadistic campaign of social media teasing, Swedish metal veterans In Flames have put the finishing touches on a clever promotional stunt for their fans' benefit.

Sporadic, vague hints ("The new album's title will contain eleven letters," "Its initials are 'S.C.'") and cryptic "#IF2014" hashtags abounded on the band's Facebook page for weeks that became months, encouraging an ongoing (and agonized) guessing game.

Then, yesterday, the band made the following announcement: "We have encountered some issues regarding our online platforms. We want to assure you that no Jesterhead [the band's fan club] member information has been compromised, and our team is working on a solution right now. We apologize for the inconvenience."

The band's website appeared to have been hacked, as evidenced by the following on the home page:

"sorry admin (n00b) [pwned by ~lOLzcH4Rm1nG~].

"HaXxED much?? Inflames, SERIOUSLY!! You have been tRolLiNg us 4 WAYAAH 2 long. As a result, you now got your site taken over. ok???

"you might also wanna speak to your webmastaa since you also forgot to put some decent locks on your servers... SO GUESS WHAT?! We will leak WHATEVER info we have found here tomrrow @ 6am EST."

A handy link, however, guides fans to what appears after all to be an official band announcement. The upcoming studio album, In Flames' eleventh, is titled "Siren Charms" and is expected out this September.

While an official release date and tracklist have yet to be announced, the provided link does offer a brief sample of new music to accompany the information.

"Siren Charms" will be In Flames' first studio effort since the successful and critically acclaimed "Sounds Of A Playground Fading," [reviewed here] released June 15th, 2011.

The Great Sabatini To Release New LP

The noise metal aficionados at French label Solar Flare Records now proclaim the confirmed impending release of the newest LP from Montreal's The Great Sabatini. Solar Flare comments:

"While virtually unavoidable influence from genre superheroes Unsane, the Melvins, The Jesus Lizard, Today Is The Day are evident within The Great Sabatini's corrosive tones, the band tackles an endless array of approaches within the delivery of their well-honed and devastating hooks and vocal styles.

"Through a spew of independent and unsigned singles, EPs and two previous full-length releases since 2008 amidst bouts of regional touring as well as extensive tours of North America and Europe, the band has gained a loyal fanbase within the noise, metal and sludge circuits, including the heads of Solar Flare Records, who now brings the band into their ever-expanding roster of gnarled audio chaos, for the release of Dog Years.

"The Great Sabatini's third proper full-length, Dog Years was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Sean Pearson (Cursed, Shallow North Dakota), and boasts the band's raw, unpolished approach to capture n act with years of accumulated experience touring, writing and recording together. The aim was to create a hi-fi document with all of their lo-fi sensibilities, grit and live energy intact, and the results are astoundingly destructive.

"Additional info on Dog Years will be leaked over the coming weeks, preceding its release on LP, CD and digital release in North America on June 2nd. In conjunction with its street date, The Great Sabatini will also begin decimating stages abroad in support of Dog Years, including a nearly three-week-long tour out to the West Coast of Canada and the U.S. into the second week of June. Stand by for the full routing and more info in the coming days." More...

Today the occult rockers in Jess And The Ancient Ones reveal news of their next album for Svart Records, which follows the "Astral Sabbat" EP (2013) and the band's previous self-titled debut album (2012).

The band comments: "After a needed break, we have once again put the wheels of JATOA in motion. Writing process has began, and the band is working hard to create a follow-up to the debut album - so far, so good, as we already have a few new songs in our hands. A natural progress has taken its place, as the material has a lots refreshing elements within it, but one will definitely still identify the creators.

"When the summer is over, the call of the studio will be inevitable. The second album will most likely be released in early 2015, through Svart Records. More accurate information concerning the release will be announced later. If you want to keep track, be sure to check out the virtual world.

California Breed Releases Lyric Video

The hard rock power trio California Breed - which consists of Glenn Hughes (vocals, bass), Jason Bonham (drums), and Andrew Watt (guitar) - today releases the official lyric video for the "Midnight Oil" single.

The animated lyric video was created by Nev Todoroic who spearheads the interactive media production company The Young Astronauts. "Midnight Oil" will also be available as an instant gratification track by pre-ordering the band's self-titled album at iTunes here.

Says California Breed’s guitarist, Andrew Watt: "We wanted a lyric video that would make people want to watch this song in addition to just listen to it, one that would highlight the bombastic grooves of the track and convey the rhythm of the message. I turned to my friends, the Young Astronauts, whose previous videos have hundreds of millions of views, but they don’t work with a lot of rock bands and I thought THAT’S the magic, right there."

“It’s a refreshing animated video that really captures the lyrical concert and message of the Midnight Oil single,” says California Breed’s vocalist and bassist, Glenn Hughes. “We didn’t want to make a run-of-the-mill lyric video. The animation perfectly captures the raw energy, lyrical content and the message of what Midnight Oil is really all about... rock n roll!!”

The band's self-titled album will be released via Frontiers Records in Europe on May 16th, and in the U.K. and U.S. on May 19th. More...

Dråpsnatt Announces Record Deal

Nordvis Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Dråpsnatt:

"With 2014 already looking like a very good year, having released new material from Stilla and Skogen up ’til now, today we can proudly present the signing of Dråpsnatt.

"The duo from northern Sweden have three albums to their name before signing on with Nordvis; 2009's 'I Denna Skog,' 2010's 'Hymner till Undergången,' and the 2012 release 'Skelepht' with all three having garnered critical acclaim for their atmospheric, sombre black metal that pays homage to the nature and grim folklore of their Scandinavian roots. With the band and Nordvis sharing close geographical ties, this deal is a natural step forward for both parties.

"Besides procuring the rights for two upcoming albums, the first of which is planned to be recorded in the summer of 2014, the deal also means that their 2010 album 'Hymner till Undergången' will be re-released by Nordvis in the coming months. Stay tuned for more news regarding this in the near future!"

Dråpsnatt also comments: “Some time has passed since we really felt that we had anything to share with all of you. The plans to record a fourth album became postponed due to us finding ourselves in some strange state of not knowing if we had a label or not. As you know, we are no longer bound to Frostscald Records and even though we – needless to say – were annoyed with the situation, there is no bad blood or hard feelings between us, atleast not for our part.

"So, what’s the news, you might ask?! Well, brace yourselves. We are proud to say that we are from here on signed by Nordvis Produktion. We have known about these guys for some time, partly because they also reside in the woodlands of our hometown Skelepht, but also because they have made quite a reputation for themselves by having high quality (rather than high quantity) bands.

"We are thus proud and honored to join the same ranks as Stilla, Lustre, Skogen, Lonndom, Grift, Bergraven, and Lik." More...

Incinerate Signs To Comatose Music

Comatose Music proudly welcomes the Minnesota death metal machine Incinerate to its roster. The label comments:

"After the departure of long time founding member and song writer Scott Ellingboe, many were skeptical of what the future would hold for this veteran outfit. Now with the addition of new members, the current lineup features guitarist Ted Isac and bassist Sasha Wilczynski, along with original member Jesse Watson and returning drummer Darren Cesca.

"The new release will push the boundaries they set for themselves with their 2008 release ‘Anatomize’, yet stay true to the traditional Incinerate sound with mind-bending ferocity. Conceptually it is science fiction meets the absence of faith in religion and will prove to be Incinerate’s most involved and accomplished musical endeavor to date. New and old fans alike will not be disappointed and should expect a more mature and evolved Incinerate.

"They are scheduled to record later this year with an estimated release date in late 2014. Album artwork is currently underway by Jon Zig and will be revealed soon."

"So we wrote a song. Rather than wait for a new album, and try to figure out how to make it make sense as part of a group of other songs that would be written later, we recorded it instantly, so it could be captured as it's own statement.

"We pressed it on a limited edition 7" vinyl, in a quantity of 500(never to be pressed again), and have it available on this current tour. It's called 'Happiness Is A Smile.' We've been playing it every night. Here it is.

"We haven't said this, but we've been filming every show, for something to be released in the future. Come out and be a part. Check out the rest of the dates here." More...

Azooma Signs To Xtreem Music

The Iranian death metal warriors in Azooma have just signed a worldwide contract with Xtreem Music. As a result the band will be releasing debut EP "A Hymn of the Vicious Monster" in both digital and CD formats this Summer while Azooma works on a full-length album for 2015.

Guitarist Ahmad Tokallou commented: "This is what we have been waiting for and it is not only because of our hard work, but also the help from some great and kind friends, who are invisible to others but shared their mighty energy and kindness with us... Xtreem Music is a great label, and this encourages us and give us more hope to go forward… you will hear more from Azooma!"

"It's one of the best things that can happen for an artist to co-operate with a good and reliable company such as Xtreem Music," drummer Saeed Shariat says. "I have a good feeling about it and we hope to satisfy metal heads more… Just wait for our EP, it will make necks ache!"

Dave Rotten, president of Xtreem Music and main man of Avulsed, stated the following: "The very first time I heard Azooma, I was extremely surprised by their combination of sheer brutality and technical skills at the same time as their EP sounds really heavy with a great production. I'm running the label since 1990 and this is the very first band from Middle East that I decided to sign. They have the right attitude and overall… they sound fucking great!! Hopefully Azoomawill help to break barriers for other good bands in these countries where extreme Metal isn't that popular".

An 8 minute live documentary of the band's participation on a Persian metal festival last October can also be seen below. More...

Madball Announces "Hardcore Lives" Album

The New York hardcore veterans in Madball have set "Hardcore Lives" as the title of the band's upcoming ninth studio album.

"Hardcore Lives" was tracked & engineered by famed Unearth guitarist Ken Susi and mixed & mastered by long time collaborator Zeuss. The album is set to be unleashed June 27th, 2014 via Nuclear Blast and the official promo photos were taken by Lamb Of God's very own Randall D. Blythe.

Commented frontman, Freddy Cricien: "I shouted 'Hardcore Lives' on Madball's first release, 'Ball Of Destruction' - I was twelve then. It wasn't pre planned or written down... it was an ad-lib that I just threw out there and we kept it! Back then there was no choice really, not the way we were recording - two track live at Don Fury's... NYHC style!

"I feel the sentiment behind the expression still holds true today, maybe even more so. Hence the reason we finally chose to use it as a title. Sure, it's about waving the flag for our genre/culture, etc. - I've always felt that "we as a scene" had to scream just a lil louder... to be heard! That said, 'Hardcore Lives' at least to us, is not just about a cool 'catchphrase' - it's about that rebellious spirit that doesn't give in... In life, music, whatever.

"It's about growing, evolving, and maintaining your integrity in the process. It's about family, overcoming adversity, and respect. All the things that matter inside and outside of the music realm. It's for everyone and anyone with an open mind and heart."

THe "Hardcore Lives«" album will be available as a limited edition digipak and on black vinyl, both including two additional bonus tracks: "The Beast," which also appeared on the 2012 EP "Rebellion," and "Spit On Your Grave" from 1994's landmark release "Set It Off" - both tracks have been exclusively re-recorded for the inclusion on "Hardcore Lives."
