Psychopathic Daze Splitting With Vocalist

Ken Morahan of Psychopathic Daze has issued the following statement about parting ways with the band:

"Dear fans, family, friends... The past 4 years I've been in Psychopathic Daze have been undoubtedly the best and crazies 4 years of my life. These times and years have helped shape me into the guy I am today. I've learned so much and have been humbled by more. So saying this isn't easy.

"I have stepped down as frontman of P.D. I am doing so on my own terms and the band and I are still as close as ever. There comes a time when you need to step up and realize what's best for the band, which is bigger than I ever imagined it would get. The amount of time and work that is needed is simply something I cannot give anymore. I've always believed in this band and the path it was taking and I know it will continue and go further than any of us ever imagined.

"I want to personally thank every single fan, family member, and friend who have supported us and me along this journey. The places I went, the amazing people I've met, the cities I've traveled too, will always live on in my heart. This decision wasn't easy, it was the single hardest choice I've made. But it's time to start a new chapter in my life.

"To Kyle, Frank, Ryan, and Mike; you guys are what made this fun and what kept the bond so strong. Thank you. This band made some of my dreams come true, because of every single fan who supported us. And I thank you. I am eternally grateful...

"Psychopathic Daze has been my life. My blood, sweat, and tears. Now it's time for someone else to step up and scream their heart out in the name of PD. To my fans, my family, my friends... Thank you for these crazy times. I love you all. " More...

Guitarist Val Tvoar comments: "I think it is a perfect video for this song and vice versa. Who doesn't like dancing naked chick with an attitude?! I do! I love everything about it- it's erotic, it's got some evilness and of course the naughtiness which I like the most. Perfect!"

The producer & the mastermind behind the video Indrek Kasesalu adds: "When Val approached me with the whole idea of making a video to 'Skeleton Dance' I immediately envisioned a picture of dancing neon skeletons. The entire process of editing and animating (aside from my day job) took me about 2 months. I hope it was worth it and people will dig the result." More...

Resistance Posts Studio Trailer

Death metal band Resistance has announced the artwork and title of its forthcoming fifth studio album. Titled "The Seeds Within," the album will be released later this year under a label to be announced. The band has posted a studio trailer for "The Seeds Within" which can be viewed below the album artwork.

Guitarist Oli Dris commented about the album: "The CD elaborates the human race and its defects. How we desperately seek forgiveness, how coward we are towards our reality. The lyrical content is heavy and depressive. It metaphorically pictures how helpless we are facing whatever comes at us.

The music is structured and shaped around this concept. Rhythm is the essence but melody plays its part bringing freshness when needed and making the listener's journey flawless. More brutal, more aggressive and heavier than ever, Resistance matured and will crush!"

In other news, Resistance has announced a nine-date UK tour, which kicks off on April 18th in Stoke. Dates are as follows:

4/18 - STOKE @ The Rigger
4/19 - BOLTON @ The Alma Inn

Darkest Era Posts Album Cover and Tracklisting

Northern Ireland's Darkest Era have revealed the cover artwork and track listing for their forthcoming album "Severance," which is due for release on June 3rd (US) and June 13th (Europe) via Cruz Del Sur. The album was recorded at Data Recording Studios in Ballyheigue, Ireland and produced by Chris Fielding and Darkest Era. The artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu.

Guitarist Ade Mulgrew said: "We are really pleased with the artwork which totally captures the atmosphere of this album. Costin has a unique style and immediately got what we were looking for.

'Severance' was recorded during what was a pretty stormy time in the band and against the backdrop of some very atmospheric natural scenery in one of the remotest parts of the west of Ireland. I think all that certainly comes across in the music and we are looking forward to finally unleashing it this summer."

The track listing for "Severance" is:

1.Sorrow's Boundless Realm
2.Songs Of Gods And Men
3.The Serpent And The Shadow
4.Beyond The Grey Veil

Battleroar Reveals Artwork And Album Tracklisting

Cruz del Sur Music has set a May 6th as the North American release date for "Blood of Legends," the fourth studio album from Greek Heavy Metal force Battleroar. The album artwork and tracklisting of the ten-song release is posted below.

"Blood of Legends" breaks six years of silence for the band since releasing "To Battle and Beyond." During that period Battleroar had experienced the departure of three key members, all of whom have been replaced with three equally accomplished musicians that have brought new blood, creative ideas, and renewed inspiration for the group.

Recorded at Devasoundz studio in Athens, "Blood of Legends" is an album of pure epic metal, full of compelling atmosphere with lyrics deeply absorbed in Greek mythology, and supported by violins and soprano vocals.

Sunday Old School: Gwar

Given the tragic news earlier this week that GWAR frontman, Dave Brockie, perhaps better known by his stage name, Oderus Urungus, has passed away at the age of only fifty, it seemed an appropriate and respectful time to look back on the legacy of his music and the band themselves, who arguably put on the most shocking heavy metal shows known to man. GWAR began life, perhaps unsurprisingly, as a joke by a band named Death Piggy, for whom Brockie was the lead singer and bassist. The group were intending to make a movie entitled, "Scumdogs of the Universe" and decided it would be a fun idea to wear the costumes on stage and be their own support act, dubbing themselves, Gwaaarrrgghhllgh and claiming to be from Antarctica, while sacrificing fake animals on stage. After a while, the members of Death Piggy noticed that people were more interested in seeing Gwaaarrrgghhllgh than their main act, with many leaving before Death Piggy took the stage and so the band was gradually erased in favour of concentrating on the now shortened moniker, GWAR. The original lineup of the band under the slightly new name consisted of Brockie on guitar, Chris Bopst on bass, Sean Summer on drums, vocalist Ben Eubanks and former Techno Destructo member Hunter Jackson, though it would go through several lineup changes very quickly, with Brockie eventually settling in as vocalist after another singer named Joe Annaruma recorded several demo tracks.

After going through more new members, the band eventually found themselves being signed to Shimmy Disc Records, for whom they released their debut album, "Hell-O." The album is something of a talking point amongst GWAR fans, being particularly divisive for an early record, with some fans enjoying the album and a significant amount who are not so keen on it. They began touring to promote the album, though guitarist Steve Douglas would soon leave, being replaced by mainstay, Michael Derks. More...

Author Seeking Crowd Funds For Download Fest Book

Author Ian Carroll has launched a crowd funding campaign to release a book about the many bands he has interviewed at the Download festival.

Full details on the campaign and perks for contributing can be found at Kickstarter here. Carroll comments:

"In 2005 I started to write the book of the Donington & Download Festival (including Monsters Of Rock at Milton Keynes).

"I was coming to the end of completing the Official Book of the Reading Festival and saw Donington as the second release in my 'Festival Series' of books, covering my favourite festivals that I attend every year - Donington/Download Festival is the longest running rock festival in the UK, covering all genres from rock to classic rock, Emo to Screamo, Punk to Hardcore, Black Metal to Death Metal and every style in between, plus in the last 5 years the addition of drum & bass and dance - the festival that caters for all.

"I have traveled the length and breadth of England interviewing bands and artists for the book and have had some great times in amongst the hard work. I've also had many phone interviews from Metallica to Testament, Lordi to Staind, Alice Cooper to Queensrÿche and also what was possibly one of the legend Ronnie James Dio's last interviews, prior to cancelling his final UK tour."
