Interview with Black Tide's Zakk Sandler

Zakk Sandler wasn't a bass player when he signed on to fill in the low end for Black Tide, back when the band was still called Radio.

“They didn't have a bass player and I volunteered to do it temporarily until they found somebody who really knew how to play the bass,” Sandler confirmed. “When we got signed, I kind of looked at everybody and said, 'You guys know that I still don't know how to play bass, right?' Sonic Syndicate Parts Ways With Vocalist

Swedish death metal band, Sonic Syndicate, has issued the following update regarding the departure of vocalist Roland Johansson:

Die Apokalyptischen Reiter's Guitarist Departs

German metallers, DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, have announced the departure of their latest guitarist, Lady Cat-Man (who was playing on their latest album "Licht"). She will be replaced by Ady who be performing with the band at this year's PAGANFEST. A new DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER album is planned for 2010.

Die Like Kidd Signs To Statik Factory Records

Statik Factory Records has announced the signing of DIE LIKE KIDD. After recording their new full-length album this summer with Tim Lambesis (Impending Doom, Winds of Plague, As I Lay Dying) at Lambesis Studios, DIE LIKE KIDD will be teaming up with Statik Factory Records for their new release.

Industrial band Skumlove has posted an update on the new album and some planned shows:

"So as many know we are hard at work on our new album Slated for a Spring release. We'd like to thank the many fans that stopped by to hear and see us live in the studio on stickam. We usually start around 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday Saturday and Sunday. We want you to experience what we are doing as you are a big part of this album. We have some killer fucking shows coming up. April 4th at Bar Sinister in Hollywood with Murder FM and may 11th and 14th with Static-X in Montana and Wisconsin. We are currently booking more shows up that direction.

The Seven Gates Posts New Music Online

French death metallers, THE SEVEN GATES, will have their debut album "Angel of Suffering" released in the United States on May 12th and in Europe on June 2nd. The band has posted the album's title track, "Angel of Suffering," and the song "The Serpent's Wheel" on the band's MySpace profile. "Angel of Suffering" features 10 tracks and was mastered by French engineer Jean-Pierre Bouquet.

Stryper Announces 25th Anniversary U.S. Tour

Christian hard rock band Stryper has issued the following announcement about an upcoming 25th anniversary tour:

"Stryper is gearing up to tour the United States starting in September of 2009, hitting approximately 50 cities across America. This will be followed by International tour dates in January and February of 2010.

"25 years ago (1984) Stryper broke on to the scene with their debut EP Yellow and Black Attack and have since gone on to sell 8 million records worldwide and tour the world spreading an inspirational message through their branded sound of rock songs, heavy guitars, and pristine harmony vocals.

Divine Rapture Records New Compilation Track

Philadelphia thrashers Divine Rapture have issued the following announcement about recording a song for an upcoming thrash compilation album:

"Divine Rapture recorded a new song called 'I Am Pain' for the 'Philly Thrash Brigade' compilation. It is their first new recording together since 2003's 'The Burning Passion' on Listenable Records. Drums were tracked by Lance Wright at Stargate Studio, AL, the rest by Dan O'Hare at Mark-It-Zero, NJ. Mixed by Colin Davis at Imperial Mastering, CA.

God Seed To Play Hellfest Open Air Festival 2009

God Seed, the band featuring former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King Ov Hell, has been confirmed to play at the 2009 Hellfest Open Air Festival. The festival will take place in Clisson, France on June 19 - 21.

Other bands confirmed for the festival include Motley Crue, Heaven and Hell, Anthrax, Entombed, Samael, Pig Destroyer, Vader, Manowar, Dream Theater, Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Stratavarious, Dragonforce, and Pain of Salvation.

Ahab Announces New Album Title

Ahab has issued the following statement about completing the recording and announcing the title of their upcoming album:

"Ahoi seamen,

"I'm proud to announce: The new AHAB-album is finished. Markus Stock and Daniel Droste mixed and mastered the album in Klangschmiede Studio E at Mellrichstadt until last friday. Everything went fine and Markus (The Vision Bleak) seems to like the music of AHAB a lot. His favourite song is "O Father Sea".
In the meantime the band also found a suitable name for the album. It's called "The Divinity Of Oceans". It seems to be the best title concerning the music and the lyrics. The records is due to be released approximately late july 2009.

"I'll keep you informed! This was the Captain speaking!"
