Jinjer Begins Recording New Album

Ukraine's modern metal juggernaut Jinjer have proven that they will never lessen their relentless pace and continue to work overtime, earning them the reputation as one of metal’s hardest working bands out there today. With many of their videos cracking the million mark and each of their albums released so far are highly praised by critics, scene insiders and fans alike, the band never tires of distributing their mercilessly progressive, heavy metal music to anyone that will listen.

Jinjer have finally entered the studio to start working on their highly anticipated 4th album on Napalm Records. Given the working title #JINJER4 by their fans, the band has been intensively writing new material over the past few months and it promises to be their most visionary and impactful release to date.

Bassist Eugene Abdukhanov commented:
"Those of you who keep an eye on us must have already heard that Jinjer have been working on new material pretty much since the beginning of the pandemic. It is one of those situations where even the most negative and terrible predicament can sometimes have a positive outcome. Deprived of live touring, we managed to focus all our creativity and frustration and turn it into new songs which are, in my opinion- the best music we have ever written. It's complex but yet catchy as hell, groovy but with such a palette of notes, sounds and most importantly: feelings... this new album might take the whole genre of extreme music to a whole new level and raise the bar of musicality even higher for this band and the metal scene in general."

The recording sessions are once again taking place at the Kaska Records Studios in Kiev, Ukraine together with highly talented and good friend producer Max Morton.

In addition to this, Jinjer has also announced that they will be embarking on a headlining tour of Europe in September and October with support from Humanity's Last Breath and Hypno5e, before heading across the pond for a North American tour, where they will be joined by Suicide Silence. The tour dates are as follows: More...

Osiah Reveals New Album Details

Northern England's most ferocious metal band, Osiah, return with their long-awaited new LP entitled, "Loss." The album will be released 7th May via Unique Leader and can be pre-ordered here: https://orcd.co/loss

The band are also streaming their monstrous new single "The Eye of The Swarm," featuring Shadow of Intent's Ben Duerr, which can be found below.

Osiah comment:

"'Loss' is Osiah’s darkest record to date, combining the monolithic misery of our debut record 'Terror Firma,' with a more matured technicality first showcased in our sophomore; 'Kingdom of Lies.'

"This record is the truest representation of Osiah to date, unhindered by linear concepts and wrote from a place of emotion instead.

"Featuring a new line up; Loss will cater to those familiar with our aggression, and also allow new listeners to be shown a raw unfiltered version of who we are, before they have an opportunity to witness our previous efforts.

"Osiah is stronger, faster, and more punishing than ever before, and we’ve called in our good friends Ben Duerr (Shadow of Intent) and Jason Evans (Ingested) to ensure the gears constantly step up throughout the album, not a single second of this record went to waste and we are excited to finally unleash this conduit of brutality." Monster Magnet To Release Covers Album

When psychedelic rock icons Monster Magnet got off the plane in the USA after their Powertrip tour of Europe in February 2020, they already realized that they’d dodged a bullet. The band members were all healthy, despite having spent the last week of the month-long excursion gigging overseas, and at that point, many of those countries were in total lockdown. Part two of that tour, North America, was scheduled to begin three weeks later, but the rest is history… no live music, anywhere. So, what’s a band that’s been touring regularly for 30 years to do with this newfound downtime?

Frontman Dave Wyndorf tells the inspired tale below, but without further ado – Napalm Records is pleased to present the next chapter of Monster Magnet’s rabbit hole deep dive, A Better Dystopia (out May 21, 2021): a delightfully (and psychotically) curated collection of 60’s and 70’s proto-metal and late-era psych obscurities covered by the heavy New Jersey legends themselves.

While the album marks a new frontier for Monster Magnet as their first covers record, this is not your typical set of standards released to pass time. A Better Dystopia sees the band pay homage to some of their favorite songs of all time, while reflecting on the paranoia, dystopia and revolution of both now – and then.

Fans can experience a first taste of A Better Dystopia via the swaggering riffs and swirling vocals on album’s first single, "Mr. Destroyer" (originally by Poo-Bah), today via a new video. More...

Ihsahn Announces Livestream Show

Shapeshifting progressive metal pioneer Ihsahn has announced an exclusive set at Munin Live, streaming from his hometown of Notodden on April 4th at 7pm BST (8pm CET). Once again pushing the boundaries of unconstrained creation, the Norwegian master of the avant-garde will premiere both of his latest critically acclaimed EPs "Telemark" and "Pharos" in their entirety, including tracks that have never been performed live before. The set will also include excerpts from "Das Seelenbrechen," and feature Einar Solberg from Leprous.

Get your livestream tickets here: https://munin.live/x-event/ihsahn-telemark-pharos/

Having returned to that early black metal sound on "Telemark" Ihsahn was due to perform at Norway’s Inferno Festival in April 2020, followed by a series of live concerts and festival appearances that would showcase his more extreme work. Cancelled due to the pandemic he says: "We couldn't wait to perform the last EP. I even ordered stage props with David Thiérrée’s illustrations. The plan was to do Telemark shows through the summer and focus in on my black metal roots. And then as a counterpart, I wanted to do a different show based on the more mellow, experimental side of what I do, trying to connect the two forms together.

"For many years I felt that I should do something purely black metal again," he says, explaining how this eventually led to the abstract basis behind Telemark and Pharos. "However, I would feel very limited by that in the form of an album. And then I would have wanted an outlet for the opposite. I've done the full black metal thing in the past but I'm also not a pop artist. I think it would be hard for me to fill an album within that format. This has been a challenge of limiting myself to a certain expression."
