Terror To Release New Album In March

Long-running Los Angeles hardcore outfit Terror is preparing to release Trapped In A World, revisiting their earliest records with former guitarist Todd Jones of Nails, who will also be producing the band's next LP. Set for release on March 5, the band has issued the details on the special release including pressing info, preorders, and more.

Since their 2002 inception, Terror has held their own at the forefront of hardcore, through nonstop international touring, an incredible discography, and deep roots in the hardcore community. While their full-time touring has been halted for the past year during the ongoing pandemic, the band has been revisiting material from some of their prior incarnations, and in recent months, the current lineup met up to recapture songs from their earliest days. Joined by former guitarist Todd Jones, who formed Nails upon his exit from the band in 2004, at drummer Nick Jett's studio. The band recorded a brutal session of songs from their seminal first two records - 2003's Lowest Of The Low (Bridge 9 Records) and 2004's One With The Underdogs (Trustkill) - the session also serving as a precursor for their upcoming studio album which will be produced by Jones.

Vocalist Scott Vogel reveals, "As the world locked down and Terror went on a full pause with the pandemic hitting the USA hard, somehow this created a perfect opportunity with Nick, Todd, and myself to start writing Terror songs twenty years after we started this band. Of course, all the other members are involved in this process, but with travel restrictions and us being so spread-out location-wise, a lot of weekends the three of us were just getting in a room and creating new Terror songs and it's been a pretty insane experience. Todd is a deep-thinking maniac that can write hardcore songs like no one I have seen before, and the three of us fell right back into our early mindset and the energy and aggression felt just like it did on day one." Cradle Of Filth Reveals New Album Title

Poisonous dark metallers Cradle Of Filth reveal the title of their forthcoming studio album as "Existence Is Futile." Their monumental new opus - their 13th (unlucky for all) studio album to date - was recorded at Grindstone Studios with producer Scott Atkins. The record will be embellished with artwork from Arthur Berzinsh, who is also guilty of creating the past two album artworks in the Cradle arsenal. Further nihilistic details from the crypt will soon see the light of day.

"The stunning new album is everything you can expect from the many shades of black that go to discolour a Cradle Of Filth release and far, far, worse" frontman Dani Filth stated yesterday.

"Existence Is Futile" which will feature a new, not-yet named keyboardist/backing singer, is due to be unleashed later this year through Nuclear Blast Records.

Orden Ogan Shares New Music Video

Orden Ogan has released the video for new single "Inferno," out now on AFM Records. "Inferno" is the third single taken from new album "Final Days" to be released 12th March 2021.

"The Corona virus didn't stop at our doorstep and killed all of our timing, especially in the video department where everything that could go wrong, went wrong. People know that we produce our music because we love what we do and work on it until everything sits perfectly. We are not wiling to compromise this and inbstead have to aim for the 100% result." comments Orden Ogan vocalist Seeb on postponing the 'Final Days' album release date.

Seeb comments on the upcoming new album:
"'Final Days' is a dark-science-fiction-concept-record and it features all Orden Ogan trademarks, fat and modern riffs, epic choruses and melancholic orchestral arrangements. On this record you will find the best songs that we have ever written. Gunmen was a strong and important record for us, but Final Days takes it to the next level." More...

Capra To Release Debut Album In April

On April 23rd, Capra will release their debut full-length, "In Transmission," via Blacklight Media / Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the album, a video for the new single, "The Locust Preacher" (directed by Matt Valentin), can be viewed below - while "In Transmission" can also be pre-ordered in the following formats:

- jewelcase-CD
- white / black marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 250 copies)
- yellow w/ black dust vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 250 copies)
- clear w/ pink and black splatter vinyl (US exclusive)

Formed in 2016 by guitarist Tyler Harper and drummer Jeremy Randazzo, who had previously worked together in multiple projects, Harper had just come out of a 90-day stint in rehab and was looking to focus on something new. The initial idea was to create something that would be fresh while still giving listeners a sense of nostalgia for the sounds of the late 90's and early 2000's hardcore and punk scenes. After going through a few line-up changes, they ultimately added bassist Ben Paramore and vocalist Crow Lotus, and everything came together. "This band symbolizes that hard work, determination, passion, and drive can lead to success. We're all very outspoken on our past struggles and intend to help others that feel like they're in a hole so deep that they can't climb out of it," Harper asserts. In Transmission is literally the culmination of years of hard work, reflecting everything they have been writing and pouring into the band since solidifying the lineup. "We wanted it to be the heaviest and most complete record we could possibly lay down, composed of only the best songs we've written over years of playing together. It's the best set of songs we've ever had, and we're all extremely proud of them, and each other, so we hope it sounds like a total passion project - because it is," says Paramore.

Predominantly tracked in December 2019, In Transmission was recorded with Jai Benoit (Golgothan, Father Rust), then mixed by Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues) and mastered by Brad Boatwright (Pig Destroyer, Integrity, Torche, Idle Hands). The only exceptions were "Mutt," "Transfiguration," and "Deadbeat Assailant," which were recorded during the pandemic lockdown, and required the members to go into the studio individually to lay down their parts rather than all going in together. The hardest aspect of making the record turned out to be naming it. "We went through a plethora of titles trying to find what we felt was the perfect name," Paramore says. "We've been sitting on the majority of this record since the end of 2019 and had originally hoped to send it out to the masses mid-summer, but thanks to the pandemic, all of that obviously got pushed back. In a lot of ways, this is a message we've been trying to send out that has essentially been stuck or lost in transmission for a year now, and we're all ready for that message to finally be received." Skindred Releases New Lyric Video

Skindred have revealed a brand new lyric video for "It’s A Crime," a rare cut from the Japanese version of "Roots Rock Riot." Thirteen years after its release, Skindred are re-releasing the record, making the track available outside of Japan for the first time. The album will be available on April 23rd.

"‘It’s a Crime’ was written in 2006 in our basement studio below St Joseph’s Boxing club in Newport," recalls drummer Arya Goggin. "It’s where all the writing for Roots Rock Riot took place. The only reason it didn’t make the album was because of how the album track listing flowed.

"We were so happy with how the album progressed from the opening of chaos of 'Roots Rock Riot' to the epic ending of 'Choices And Decisions' we didn’t want to crowbar another song in needlessly. It was a hard decision to leave it out but we are so happy it’s being included in the re-release. It was always a band and producer favourite."

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, vocalist Benji Webbe explains, "I live in a neighbourhood (Newport, Wales) where back in the day, a lot of people were working hard and getting ripped off in life and then there are others who are just hustling and selling this and selling that. It’s just a crime that hardworking people don’t get what the thieves/criminals get." More...

Evile Reveals New Album Details

Since their formation in 2004, British thrash titans Evile have been turning heads and taking names, delivering four pure thrash offerings blended with an uncompromising death metal assault! Their upcoming fifth studio album, entitled "Hell Unleashed," will impact the metal masses on April 30, 2021 via Napalm Records, and is the long-awaited successor to their 2013 release, "Skull." Featuring the new exciting line-up formation of the talented Ol Drake on vocals/guitars and new member Adam Smith of RipTide as rhythm guitarist, Hell Unleashed is a raucous and masterful thrash metal attack!

"After a long eight years, Evile is finally coming back with our fifth studio album, 'Hell Unleashed' in April; a nine-track onslaught of unrelenting Thrash Metal. I have no qualms in saying that this is the best Thrash Metal album in at least the last 20 years." Ol Drake comments. "Those who haven't been keeping up with Evile may notice a change in vocals and vocalist. Matt left the band last year for health and personal reasons, and we decided it would be best to keep the new vocalist a familiar face within the band, so I stepped into the vocalist shoes, while remaining on lead guitar and I'm very happy and excited to do it - one of my heroes is Chuck Schuldiner, so it made sense to me; Evile needs to sound evil and vile, and we've achieved that more this time with a much more aggressive approach on 'Hell Unleashed.'"

In celebration of their return and the announcement of "Hell Unleashed," the band has just revealed a blistering music video for the album‘s title track! With double the amount of power, twice the speed, untamed brute and blazing riffs, "Hell Unleashed" will propel old and new fans to the status of eternal mayhem and thrash euphoria. Watch Evile‘s brand new clip below. More...

DIY UPDATE: What Labels DON'T Care About

There are a lot of things that bands seem to think labels cate about that I can personally guarantee you they don’t care about or they care about only minimally. Ultimately, labels really just care about 2 things: Is this a fit for the label? And: Will this make money? I wanted to dispel three big notions that bands seem to have about what labels care about.

I’ll break these down further, but I think it’s important to understand the following. Labels don’t care about whatever staff you had on a record (Most of the time), they also don’t care about any of the promotional team you hired (usually), finally, barring extreme cases, most labels are not going to be incredibly swayed by one off opening slots. Let’s deconstruct. More...
