Deez Nuts Bassist Passes Away Aged 35

Sean Kennedy, the bassist for Australian hardcore band Deez Nuts and formerly of I Killed The Prom Queen, has been found dead at the age of thirty five. Although no cause of death has been publicly confirmed, Australian outlet Tone Deaf claims that the musician committed suicide (see article here.) Several of Kennedy's former bandmates have paid tribute to him, with former I Killed The Prom Queen vocalist Michael Crafter saying:

"For years we stood side by side on stage or in band photos. We slept on floors, in vans, planes and somehow managed to tour the world. Time went way too fast. We experienced highs and lows on the road and after all we went through, you will always be my friend. As the years passed us by I'm glad we've always been there for each other. When I called you last week I didn't think it would be the last. I wish I could say goodbye. Love and will always miss you mate. Rest in peace."

Cannibal Corpse Shares New Music Video

?On April 16th, Cannibal Corpse will release their fifteenth studio album, "Violence Unimagined," via Metal Blade Records. A new video (directed by David Brodsky) for the first single, "Inhumane Harvest", can now be viewed below.

Rob Barrett (guitar) comments: "'Inhumane Harvest' takes a look inside one of organized crime's more sinister activities: the human organ trade. Desperate buyers will pay a high price for a much-needed organ transplant to either save themselves or a loved one from certain death, which makes for a lucrative business in underground crime rings." Einherjer Posts New Music Video Online

Viking Metal pioneers Einherjer are about to release their eighth studio album, "North Star," this Friday, February 26, proving their status as the pioneers of blending Nordic Black Metal and Folk Metal genres into pure Norse Heavy Metal once again.

The album marks the band’s return to Napalm Records after 25 years, and the release of their legendary "Dragons Of The North" album (1996), which will be re-released as a re-mastered version on February 26 as well.

To celebrate the double release, Einherjer just released the third single, "West Coast Groove," together with an animated video. Old school Heavy Metal vibes meet dark Viking Metal atmosphere - Einherjer are in top form and still prove their status as genre pioneers after more than 25 years!

Einherjer on "West Coast Groove":
"There is a massive portion of rock’n’roll spirit in most of the stuff we do these days. As we grow older I find it more natural to let our influences shine through as we see fit. “West Coast Groove” is a solid fist in the air for the heavy metal we love, and to the place that's been an essential part of our inspiration since day one. A tribute to our hometurf!" More...

Interview

Baest: "This Will Be Our Last Concept Album"

Over the past ten years or so, Denmark has produced a plethora of amazing metal bands, with a vast array of different styles. From Myrkur to Konvent, Demon Head to Cabal, Denmark is fast becoming a new home for metal music. One of the most ferocious groups to emerge from the Scandinavian country would be Baest, formed only six years ago in Aarhus, but already on the cusp of releasing their third album. The band has been quickly making a name for themselves, supporting such artists as Entombed A.D. & Aborted, as well as performing at some of Europe's biggest festivals like Copenhell and Brutal Assault.

Next week, the quintet will unleash, "Necro Sapiens," their third full length album, through Century Media, which promises to be just as vicious as their previous efforts, "Danse Macabre" and "Venenum." Like these albums, "Necro Sapiens" is a concept record, though very different from past works, telling the Orwellian story of alien races, tyranny and slavery.

To find out more about this fascinating idea, how the pandemic affected the album process, the band's relationship with concept records and much more, I spoke with vocalist Simon Olsen. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
