Y&T Frontman Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer

Californian hard rock/heavy metal legends Y&T has announced that they have rescheduled a number of shows, following the confirmation that frontman and sole original member David Meniketti has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The singer underwent a "critical medical procedure" on February 11th. A statement from Meniketti reads as follows:

"After numerous blood tests, an extensive MRI, and last Friday's biopsy, I have been diagnosed with Prostate cancer. My doctor says we caught it early and the likelihood of surviving this is very high. Over 90% of patients with this type of cancer (thankfully mine is relatively slow growing) are cured and live out their life expectancy. Having spent a lifetime of staying on top of my health, and having caught this early, may be the reason why I should fully survive this.

"I urge everyone to listen to your bodies & get regular checkups. I know plenty of people that didn't do that, and it has been the difference between an extended life and death.

"Concerning how this affects upcoming shows, the Santa Cruz and Tracy Theatre shows will be unaffected by this and will go on as planned. But because of my lengthy treatment schedule, coming after those shows, we must cancel the Phoenix, Las Vegas, Hollywood, and San Juan Capistrano shows. Check the Y&T tour dates page for updates. We're expecting all other shows to remain intact.

"Though I'm generally not a person that believes entertainers need to share their medical issues in public, I felt it was just too hard to keep everyone in doubt… especially since many of you have been with us for Y&T's almost 50-year career and are like extended family.

"Regardless of this news, I am doing fine, feeling well, and look forward to getting this behind me and continuing to bring the music to you for many years to come."

Fallen Sanctuary Signs With AFM Records

AFM Records is proud to announce the signing of a very special new band: Fallen Sanctuary, led by masterminds Georg Neuhauser (singer of Serenity) and Marco Pastorino (guitarist of Temperance), who indulge their common love for melodic power metal here. The two became friends in 2018 during a joint tour and soon realised that they pretty much share musical idols and tastes.

Neuhauser: "Marco and I often got talking at night on the tour bus to the next show with Serenity and Temperance. It was amazing that we have so many favourite bands in common. And since we also get along really well on a personal level and live only a four-hour drive apart, we came up with the idea of releasing an album together some day."

It would appear that "some day" has now arrived: June 2022, Neuhauser and Pastorino's debut album "Terranova," released under the moniker of Fallen Sanctuary. The new band also features a permanent rhythm section consisting of Alfonso Mocerino on drums and bassist Gabriele Gozzi, who will complement Fallen Sanctuary live on stage.

"The quality of Fallen Sanctuary convinced and amazed us right away," says AFM Records A&R Timo Hoffmann. "The passion and dedication, their attention to detail and the super high standards they set for themselves, make Fallen Sanctuary stand out. Songwriting, performance and production are on an immensely high level and will thrill fans of varied Melodic Power Metal. In addition, Georg and Marco are such positive characters that we are very much looking forward to working with them." More...

Caveat Releases New Music Video

Progressive, aggressive, experimental, and melodic, Calgary, Canada's Caveat recently released their fourth studio album entitled "Alchemy" on February 11th. Not keeping fans waiting too long, they are excited to share their latest music video for the album's title track.

As one of the more proggier songs on the full-length, this track really showcases Amanda Marie Bourdon’s powerhouse voice as well as Matt Petti’s incredible bass performance. This song deals with addiction and how we are in search of the magic elixir (in so many cases alcohol) that will make us perceive a better version of ourselves, which in almost every case turns out to be the opposite.

"Alchemy travels into new territory for Caveat, with Amanda Marie Bourden taking on lead vocal duties for most of the song and showcasing some of Caveat’s most ambitious writing to date. With an almost soundtrack vibe of musically and dynamic nuances, Alchemy creates a progressive listening experience unlike any other you’ve ever heard from us. We are excited to bring Caveat’s new sound to both new and old audiences alike.” adds the band. More...

Paradise Lost And Moonspell Decimate Manchester

As some (mostly British) people will be aware, this week, the grey and frowning island of the United Kingdom has been bleaker than usual over the last few days after being battered by Storm Eunice. With howling winds, pouring rain and temperatures that would make polar bears think twice, this was the perfect setting for the greatest pairing of Gothic icons since Robert Smith played for Siouxie And The Banshees, as Paradise Lost and Moonspell rolled into Manchester for a dream lineup.

Unlike some fortunate venues, there was no Alunah opening tonight, so instead there was plenty of time for people to join a queue (as we Brits love to do!) and pick up merchandise before Portugal's darkest musical export Moonspell took to the stage. As one might expect, there was a strong showing from their most recent effort, "Hermitage," which included the opening number "The Greater Good," as well as mid set numbers "The Hermit Saints" and "Apophthegmata." These new cuts were received well but it should come as no surprise that staples like "Opium" and "Extinct" were greeted with a significantly warmer response. More...

Edge Of Paradise Shares Two Videos For "Believe"

Los Angeles, California based hard rock/heavy metal outfit Edge Of Paradise has released a new lyric video for the single, "Believe." The video follows on from the official music video, which was also posted this past week. You can watch both below. To delve deep into the art and the story of Believe, head here.

"The Unknown" is Edge Of Paradise's fourth studio album, coming on the heels of their Frontiers Music Srl debut, Universe. The band teamed up with renowned producer Howard Benson (Halestorm, My Chemical Romance, Seether) who, together with Mike Plotnikoff (Halestorm, Three Days Grace), and Neil Sanderson (Three Days Grace) helped the band craft their biggest sounding album yet. Add in mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Volbeat, Pretty Maids) and you have a fool-proof recipe for a sonically stunning album. The Unknown builds upon where Universe left off, developing Edge Of Paradise's overall symphonic and metallic sound while bringing it to the next level.
