Iotunn Releases New Music Video

On February 26th, Denmark's Iotunn will release their new album, Access All Worlds, via Metal Blade Records. For a preview of the record, a video for the new single, "The Tower Of Cosmic Nihility," can be viewed below.

Iotunn comments: "The widths of this song, its insistent drive and the passion and melancholy of the lyrics made us choose 'Tower' as one of the singles. It will surely become essential for coming shows. In collaboration with video artist Mathayad, we think we have gained new perspectives on the song and put it in a very strong visual context." Bodom After Midnight To Release New EP In April

In 2020, the news was flooded: Led by the extremely talented Alexi Laiho, newly formed supergroup Bodom After Midnight was about to become the striking successor to legendary metal band Children Of Bodom. Their sonic plans were massive – including an EP release in the spring followed by a full-length album later in the year.

The EP, "Paint The Sky With Blood" (out April 23 via Napalm Records), was recorded in Finland back in 2020 and was meant to be the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Sadly, that chapter ended far too soon, and now, the three-track piece embodies a whole new meaning. "Paint The Sky With Blood" is an overwhelming tribute to an outstanding artist and an exceptional sonic heritage – matchless late guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho – and at the same time, a modern homage to the genre itself.

"Like ourselves, Alexi was beyond stoked about these songs and anxious to get these out so we are happy that we can fulfill his wish. Needless to say that we are honored and proud to be a part of his very last creative work and unleash it the way he wanted it to. It’s time to let the beast out of the cage one more time as a celebration of Alexi’s music,
legacy and the man himself."

Frozen Soul Vocalist Opens The "Crypt Of Ice"

It seems that at the start of each year, a band comes along with a debut that immediately gets people talking. Last year, it was Danish death/doom quartet Konvent and this year, burning bright as the Texan sun, comes Frozen Soul, whose debut album, "Crypt Of Ice" has already got death metal fanatics' tails wagging. The quintet from Fort Worth released their first full length through Century Media last month and it's already being considered one of the best releases in the early stages of 2021.

To find out more about what promises to be the most exciting Texan death metal band since Devourment, I spoke with vocalist Chad Green. Among the subjects we discussed pertaining to the album was the engrossing front cover, designed by Velio Josto, the striking music videos released thus far, how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the recording of the album as well as it's release and much more. You can check it out in full below. More...

Sirenia Posts "Voyage Voyage" Music Video Online

French-Norwegian symphonic metal institution Sirenia will unveil their tenth studio album, "Riddles, Ruins & Revelations," this Friday, February 12 via Napalm Records. The 11-track album skilfully portrays the band's multifaceted nature and offers a versatile symphonic metal vortex through splicing heavy sounds with modern influences.

After releasing catchy first single "Addiction No. 1" in late 2020, followed by smashing "We Come To Ruins" shortly after, the four-piece around mastermind, bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter and producer Morten Veland now offers another surprise and presents the third single, "Voyage Voyage," a cover of Desireless' 1986 hit. With this bonus track on Riddles, Ruins & Revelations, Sirenia once again successfully combine symphonic soundscapes with electronic vibes, showcasing a whole new facet of their ability while staying true to their roots at the same time. Presented in her mother tongue, the lyrics fit perfectly for France-based singer Emmanuelle Zoldan.

Mastermind Morten Veland on choosing "Voyage Voyage" for the album:
"As our new album is influenced by the eighties to some extent, we thought it would be fitting to do a cover version from this era, and include it as a bonus track on the album. 'Voyage Voyage' by the artist Desireless is one of my favourite songs from this decade and it was a very interesting song to cover. In terms of covers, I love to find songs from a completely different genre and then put Sirenia's touch and sound to it. It never made any sense to me to do a cover version of a different rock or metal band, as the versions would end up too similar anyway."

Morten Veland also recently spoke with Metal Underground about the album, the cover track and much more, which you can listen to below. More...
