Megaforce Co-Founder Jon Zazula Passes Away

Jon Zazula, the co-founder of Megaforce Records and the man credited with helping to launch the careers of such bands as Metallica, Anthrax, Testament and Overkill, has sadly passed away. He follows his wife Marsha, the other Megaforce co-founder, who died on January 10th last year.

Zazula founded Megaforce in 1982, releasing Metallica's debut album, "Kill 'em All" the next year and would sign such other notable bands as Mercyful Fate, Ministry, Mushroomhead, The Black Crowes, Raven and Manowar. His autobiography, "Heavy Tales" was released in 2019.

His daughter Rikki broke the news with the following statement: "The world lost a true legend today… Our Dad lived a life as fast, hard, heavy, powerful, and, impactful as the music he brought to the world. His passion and persistence fueled the careers of arguably the most influential metal bands, and, industry greats of a generation. To us he was simply daddy… Our father and mother were a powerhouse partnership in love, life, and business. Together they believed in the unbelievable, their passion, rebel perspective, and persistence built an empire from a box of vinyl in a flea market - into a multi platinum selling record label, management company, and publishing house. Although we are devastated he is gone, they are finally reunited. And it feels impossible to imagine a world without him in it. For all of us who knew and loved him … by the way… keep it heavy! RIP daddy you will truly be deeply missed, but, never forgotten…your LegaZ will live on forever, not only in us and your grandchildren, but, in every headbanger on this planet for all of eternity!" Featuring current and former members of Eternal Champion, Necrofier, Venomous Maximus, and more, Night Cobra plays a fiery blend of scorching rock 'n' roll and blistering metal. "With Dawn Of The Serpent," Night Cobra delivers high-tech, low life heavy metal that sounds like it was made on the concrete streets of a city. Fall Of Stasis Releases "Baal Arise" Video

Fall Of Stasis has been making its name known in the Montreal metal scene since they first stepped on a stage in 2017. A formidable blend of symphonics, black metal, prog and even a bit of folk, the band weaves an eclectic tapestry that will entice a wide variety of listeners.

The single "Baal Arise" describes a demon’s awakening and his wish to enslave humanity. This is a short, fast-paced, “in-your-face” type of song that starts off with a brutal death metal riff followed by an epic chorus. The band explains in further detail:

"This song was almost entirely written by Tristan, although it’s been fine-tuned and improved thanks to the band’s creative input. This song is short and very aggressive, and for that reason, we feel like it is very effective in grabbing the attention of our target audience. It was inspired by old-school metal songs that usually delve into satanic themes. We also felt like the storytelling was interesting and well-suited for a lyric video."

It is apparent throughout the 50-minute album that a lot of effort was put into it, each song that was included was carefully picked to pique the listener’s interest and showcase the band‘s songwriting abilities. Overall, it is a melting pot of each band member’s musical tastes and influences, which makes for a pretty varied repertoire, ranging from smooth and melancholic ballads to aggressive and fast metal riffs. This gives them somewhat of an “apocalyptic” sound, something that is also reflected in most of the lyrics.

Metalheads looking for something brutal, eclectic, and original especially those with an interest in Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Black Dahlia Murder and Unexpect will likely enjoy Fall of Stasis.

"Baal Arise" can be watched and heard via its premiere on No Clean Singing or below. More...

Treat Reveals New Album Details

Frontiers Music Srl is proud to announce the forthcoming release of "The Endgame," the ninth studio album by Swedish melodic rock band Treat. A first single and video from it entitled "Home Of The Brave" is available now.

Treat established themselves as leaders in the Swedish melodic hard rock scene in the years prior to their split in 1993 and again after their 2006 reunion. With bassist Nalle Påhlsson back in the ranks, the quintet (which also includes vocalist Robert Ernlund, guitarist Anders ‘Gary’ Wikström, drummer Jamie Borger and keyboardist Patrick Appelgren) have once again provided a fresh and exciting musical journey with "The Endgame." Twelve songs that include uptempo rockers, ballads, '80s sounding gems and some musical surprises make the record a definitive statement from the band. It is produced by Peter Mansson, who also helmed the group’s previous two albums, "Ghost Of Graceland" (2016) and "Tunguska’"(2018).

"We always want to make albums that are better than the last one," states Wikström. "The album title represents many things about Treat in this day and age, including the sincerity and history of the band, but also the fight to survive like brothers in arms through all these years of highs and lows, tears and laughter. We grew up together in the '80s, learning how to make our brand of melodic hard rock by heart and we continue to work that hard today. We are as close as a family and blessed to still be able to get in the ring and be on top of our game. For a band that has been going for nearly four decades, inspiration and the drive to create fresh material still propels us." More...

Sabaton Unveils New Lyric Video

Sabaton have released a new lyric video for "Inmate 4859", originally featured on the bonus version of the band's 2014 album, Heroes.

Historical fact: In September 1940 the Polish soldier Witold Pilecki used faked identity documents to be arrested and sent to Auschwitz, which he planned to infiltrate and destroy from within. Boldly, Pilecki organized the opposition from within, hoping that one day friends from outside would liberate the camp. When no help from outside came he decided to flee and inform the world of the atrocities inside. He managed not only to flee but also to bring secret documents which he planned to use as proof, and even then he was not believed, as the stories seemed exaggerated. After the war he was arrested for treason and executed. More...

Rage Behind Signs With Atomic Fire Records

Rage Behind is a new devastating modern groove metal / nu-metal thrash monster that has already paid its dues while on the road with Heaven Shall Burn, Protest The Hero, Between The Buried And Me, and Rise Of The Northstar. Now the band perfected their craft to the point of delivering the crushing debut single "Eminence Or Disgrace". In this decadent world, where humankind quickly loses its moral compass, the band brings the listener to achieve eminence.

"It's a message for those that believe you can't escape a life you don't like anymore. Yeah, the road to change is hard but have we another choice left? Listen to your rage, and make it an ally to reach your goal," explains Edward Vale, the drummer of Rage Behind.

Detailing the lyrics behind the debut track, vocalist Vitali Lukas explains: "I feel the need to express all that anger we have that brings us down. Writing about it and choosing my words makes me turn it into strength and energy.

"It's an introspection to reach a better self and be proud of what you do. The songs speak about our vengeance on life, facing its darkness…" More...

Hyperia Unleashes New Single "Experiment 77"

Canadian thrashers Hyperia, formerly of Calgary, AB, now residing in Vancouver, BC will be self-releasing their new album “Silhouettes of Horror” this coming March 2022. The full-length follows their 2020’s "Insanitorium" unleashed via Sliptrick Records and their 2019 EP "Fish Creek Frenzy."

Today, in preview to the record, Hyperia is sharing their second single "Experiment 77", a song about a government experiment that actually happened in Kentucky in 1954 where a prison doctor isolated inmates and fed them “double, triple and quadruple” doses of LSD for 77 days straight. Musically, the track starts with a single guitar riff that soon erupts into a heavy double kick run. The song has a lengthy C-Section with harmonized guitar solos, neo-classical melodies as well as 2 bass solos. Listen to "Experiment 77" below.

Hyperia's forthcoming second album "Silhouettes Of Horror" sees guitarist Colin Ryley behind the soundboard producing and mixing the record with mastering done by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland (Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Battle Beast). Album artwork was created by Andrei Bouzikov (Vektor, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust).

"We think that we have polished our sound and pushed ourselves to create what we believe is a newly refined vision. This record has pushed the whole band to their limits, and the songwriting, performance, and production value is a huge step up. We feel the fans will enjoy this new album even more than our first full-length," adds Collin Ryley.

Energetic, melodic, fast, psychotic, and dynamic are the elements that make “Silhouettes of Horror” that old and new fans of thrash, NWOBHM, and power metal will appreciate. The band even included a cover hommage of Abba’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme." For the recording of "Silhouettes Of Horror," Hyperia also recruited good friend and session drummer Gord Alexander (Tessitura, Tides of Kharon, Immunize).

Most of the lyrical themes on "Silhouettes of Horror" revolve around inhumane government experiments, sleep disorders, and night terrors.

"Silhouettes Of Horror" is due out on March 18, 2022 and is recommended for fans of Exmortus, Arch Enemy, Unleash the Archers, Havok. More...

Absent In Body To Release Debut Album In March

Absent In Body make their Relapse Records debut with the terrifying new album, "Plague God," out March 25 on LP/CD/CS/Digital (pre-orders available here).

Featuring current and former members of Amenra, Neurosis, and Sepultura, "Plague God" is bound by the same ideals of unity and fearlessly uncompromising honesty of expression that have driven their respective bands to imperious heights of reverence and groundbreaking sonic deliverance. Plague God is by turns devastating and sublime, drawn from musicians for whom life and art are inextricably bound.

Mathieu Vandekerckhove comments: "We had not imposed any limitations or boundaries on ourselves to create this music. Everything happened without any compromise, we gathered and let inspiration run freely. It is the beauty and the strength of this album."

Iggor Cavalera comments: "It feels great to collaborate with such forward-thinking minds like Colin, Mathieu, and Scott on AIB. The music is dense and slowly brutal, very similar to the times we are living."
