Religious Group Protesting Carach Angren Show

Carach Angren's upcoming Christmas Eve performance has got some panties in a twist, with a local religious group worried about "demons influencing the youth of Amstelveen" if the show is allowed to go on.

Youtuber ovd806 just uploaded a video featuring clips of news coverage regarding the event and also commented:

"This is a compilation (first 2 parts with subtitles in English) of the news on internet/TV about the infamous performance by Carach Angren and The Monlith Deathcult in venue P60 Amstelveen, that will take place Christmas Eve in 2016.

"A local political Christian party accused the bands of being 'dark' 'develish' and a great danger for the youth of Amstelveen. They went as far as comparing Carach Angren with Anders Breivik, the idiot who shot 77 innocent men, women and children on the island Utøya.

"They also compared CA with Tristan van der Vlis, a 24-year old troubled guy who started shooting in a shopping mall, thereby killing 6 people and wounding 17 before killing himself. By listening to heavy metal people most likely could turn into another Anders or Tristan, as far as that Christian party (Christen Unie) is concerned." More...

Barren Earth To Record New Album

Barren Earth just checked in with this announcement about gearing up to hit the studio and track a new album:

"Hello friends! A bit of news for you: Barren Earth is currently preparing to record the follow-up to 2015’s 'On Lonely Towers.' We have booked Woodshed Studios for March and April, where we will work under Victor Santura’s watching eye.

"A ton of material has already been written, and it would be safe to say already now that it will differ quite strongly from our previous works. To be specific, we are working towards a darker and more aggressive feel, which we attempt to express both experimentally and with a good dose of blunt force!

"The songs are very varied, so it’s going to be extremely interesting to create an integrated entity for you to enjoy."

This is how Mr. Santura comments on the cooperation: “Actually I am really excited about working with Barren Earth! The guys are fantastic musicians and the demo material I’ve heard so far sounds very promising, so I hope that the recording- and mixing sessions will be a great pleasure.” More...

Sepultura Premieres New Music Video "Phantom Self"

Sepultura premieres a new music video for "Phantom Self", taken from the band's forthcoming new album "Machine Messiah", which will arrive in stores January 13th through Nuclear Blast. Says guitarist Andreas Kisser of it:

"‘Phantom Self‘ starts with a short intro based on the Brazilian rhythm ‘Maracatú’, original from the Northeast region of Brazil”. We mixed this very Brazilian sound with violins performed by a Tunisian violin ensemble, the Myriad Orchestra. This was a suggestion from Jens Bogren, the producer of the album, who worked with this orchestra before and he thought it could be a nice combination. We used the violins on different parts of the song and that opened a lot of new possibilities, specially for my guitar parts, it was great to have that conversation between guitar and violins making the part even more special. It’s a very heavy song, with a lot of groove, one of the most complete songs we ever worked with and it’s taking Sepultura to a new level!"

Check out now "Phantom Self" below.
