Withered Bones Releasing "For The Ones I Love"

Withered Bones has joined the ever growing roster at Blood & Ink Records and will release new album, "For the Ones I Love," on December 4, 2015 worldwide. Check out the track "Walking Out" below. Blood & Ink also comments:

"Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Withere Bones have grown leaps and bounds since forming in late 2013. Their self-released EP showed extreme promise, but it’s not until their newest effort, 'For The Ones I Love,' that Withered Bones prove they’re a force to be reckoned with in the world of melodic hardcore. 'For The Ones I Love' recalls both the passion and intensity of influences Killing the Dream and Sinking Ships, while still offering their own unique twist on the style. Don’t sleep on this band as Withered Bones are sure to make waves in the coming year." More...

Sunn O))) Reveals "Kannon" Artwork

Preparations continue to be made for the release of Sunn O)))'s upcoming LP, "Kannon," coming this December. The album will see its release via Southern Lord Recordings, and this week the album's cover art has been issued. Pre-orders for "Kannon" are also online now over at this location.

Consisting of three self-titled pieces of a triadic whole, the roots to Sunn O)))'s new album trace deeply into the sessions of the 2009-released "Monoliths & Dimensions" LP and very recent collaborative recordings with Ulver ("Terrestrials," 2014) and Scott Walker ("Soused," 2015), culminated and fully realized this year.

Recorded and mixed with Sunn O)))'s close colleague and co-producer Randall Dunn at Studio Litho, Aleph and Avast!, "Kannon" is as always composed around the immense guitar and bass interplay of founders Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, and includes performances by long term allies and collaborators Attila Csihar, Oren Ambarchi, Rex Ritter, Steve Moore and others.

Artist Angela Lafont Bolliger offers some insight on the creation of the sculpture for the album's cover artwork: "I was working on a visual concept inspired by Gian Lorenzo Berninis 'Ecstasy of Saint Teresa' (a life-sized Italian baroque sculpture in white marble) and had shared a short description about this project. I took a great interest in the conceptual thought behind the album.

"SUNN O)))'s compositions are minimal but intensely sculptural in depth and detail. This was my inspiration and it was important to me to transcend that idea into the sculpture I would create for the album artwork. Stephen and I both loved the idea that this sculpture could be something really ancient, like a comet - yet also indefinable and timeless. More...

Close To Home Breaks Up

Cincinnati, Ohio outfit Close To Home has broken up, with all the members now forming a new band titled Actual Villians. The group issued this statement online:

"The time has come to break the silence and fill you all in on what we've been doing and what we are about to do. Josh wells started Close To Home 10 years ago with his brother and we've seen a lot of changes since then. We grew together, created something we were proud of, toured all over the world & lost loved ones along the way. CTH has always been more than just a band. Our band mates, our friends & fans truly have been our family for the last decade. Our founding member Josh had decided to leave the band earlier this year. There is no bad blood between any of the members. He has simply had enough of the music industry and decided to put his focus into other endeavors and we fully support him.

"That being said... We are sad to announce that without Josh we don't feel right about carrying on the name Close To Home any longer. The remaining members will continue forward as a new band called 'Actual Villains' (^v) and we just released our first teaser clip here!

"As a band, we have kind of been stuck in a weird place for a while. Dealing with Josh leaving and searching for a new management company and record label. We set out to self finance a new record and it's mostly finished. We've been waiting to release the new songs until we had officially decided on the name for the new band. We will be releasing more clips and our first single any day now so make sure to 'LIKE' our new page!

"No words will begin to describe how thankful we are for you guys for everything you have done for us. It has been a wild ride and we are some of the luckiest guys in the world to have been able to share our music with you all." More...

Hegemon Streaming Full New Album

French black metal cult Hegemon is streaming new album "The Hierarch" online in full - listen in via the Bandcamp player below. Hegemon also had this to say:

"We, Hegemon, present to you 'The Hierarch' as the climax of our work throughout the last 20 years. With it, we are describing mankind's perception of reality from the first spark of light in this universe to the predictable ending of everything. 'The Hierarch' represents what humanity believes to know... which in truth is nothing!

"We all have always been living with lies and so it will be until the last star will extinguish. Hate and violence are all we brought to this world and as our perception of cosmos, chaos and order are only interpretations through our own eyes, we are in reality blind. We are wrong. And we are condemned."

Resurrection Kings Announces Debut Album

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the self-titled debut album from Resurrection Kings on January 29, 2016. Today the band releases the first video from the new project for the song "Who Did You Run To" - check it out below.

Digital pre-orders for the album are available now and include an instant download of "Who Do You Run To." Get yours at this location.

Resurrection Kings is a new band centered around the talents of former Dio and Giuffria guitar player, Craig Goldy. Everything started with a set of demos he recorded with singer Chas West, a guy with an unbelievable set of pipes, who has worked with such bands as the Jason Bonham Band, Foreigner, Lynch Mob, Tribe Of Gypsies, and 3 Legged Dogg.

"It all started five years ago when Craig Goldy asked me to write together," says Chas. Out of those demo sessions, the song "Livin' Out Loud" strongly impressed Frontiers' President, Serafino Perugino. He then asked Craig to build up a project/band around that musical concept. He also suggested Sean McNabb for bass (Lynch Mob, Dokken, Quiet Riot ), while Craig brought in former Dio band mate Vinny Appice on drums.

"Serafino wanted to make an album with famous musicians from the 80's and I was flabbergasted when he asked me to participate" says Craig Goldy. "We've all known each other for a long time and it was a pleasure to work with everyone - my God with Chas, Sean and Vinny that's a killer line-up!" More...

Ketzer Reveals "Starless" Details

On January 29, 2016 Germany's Ketzer will unleash new full-length, "Starless," via Metal Blade Records. In anticipation of this release, the band has now launched the album's title track below, as well as the cover artwork and pre-order information at this location.

Ketzer (German for "heretic") spent two months in the studio during the summer of 2015, recording "Starless." From sounds of raging fury, to the echoes of calm and cleansing waves, "Starless" is a record that will take you on a journey that is unexpected, yet familiar at the same time.

Thematically, the band explores the idea of religion v. reality-- is there a truth in between? Ketzer explains, "Centuries ago, humankind looked up into the star-filled night skies, questioning the universe and their lives within it. In order to find answers, mythology was born. But religion and myths cannot connect to the world we live in today. They have blinded the night skies - hence, we have become 'starless'."

3. Godface
4. Count To Ten
5. The Hunger

Draugnim Signs With Debemur Morti

Debemur Morti Productions has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Finnish outfit Draugnim:

"Back in 1999, Draugnim, a Finnish entity, decided to sacrifice its blood to the Earth. Four demos and two albums later, I'm extremely honoured to join their journey!

"Musically, Draugnim can be described as pagan metal with majestic atmosphere and melodies. Drawing inspiration from the harsh nature and northern folklore, the Finnish trio deal with such themes as decay, corruption, despair and death.

"Indeed, after releasing two major and magnificent albums, 'Northwind's Ire' (2008) and 'Horizons Low' (2010), the band is currently putting the final touch to their much awaited third opus."

The band comments on this upcoming material: "Great effort has been given to develop the sound even further to express what is the essence of Draugnim. The futile struggle against all curses of mortality as famine, pestilence and madness bring nations and gods to ruin. Songs range from raw shamanistic pagan rites to more atmospheric pieces of grief unsung. So leads on our crooked path.."

While they are busy polishing the last details, check out some previous Draugnim tunes below. More...

Discharge Signs With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast Records is proud to announce the signing of Discharge. Formed in 1977 by Terry ‘Tezz’ Roberts, his twin brother Tony ‘Bones’ Roberts and Royston ‘Rainy’ Wainwright, Discharge is cited as a key influence by renowned artists such as Metallica and Anthrax. If you aren't familiar with the band's storied history, check out our overview right here.

The band states: "Discharge are very happy to say we've signed to Nuclear Blast Records, a label that knows the genre and believes in what we do. We love the family atmosphere that revolves around the label and we are proud to be on their roster of great bands, some of whom are friends of ours. We're excited about our new album ‘End Of Days’, with three quarters of the original classic line up (Bones, Rainy and Tezz), plus Dave on drums and JJ Janiak on vocals - who captures the original Discharge sound and spirit. Original drummer Tezz moves onto rhythm guitar, so this is the first time in the band's history that we've had a five-piece line-up. ‘End Of Days’ are upon us, but it‘s just the beginning for us with Nuclear Blast...the nightmare continues!"

Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger adds: "Signing Discharge is a long-time dream come true. I grew up listening to hardcore and punk and Discharge were one of my favourite bands from the beginning. Discharge were more extreme and more fucked up than everything else. With their first EP, ‘Why’, and their debut, ‘Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing’, Discharge created classics, which I know by heart and strongly influenced me. Bands like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Machine Head and Soulfly have covered songs by Discharge, attracted by their British uniqueness. I’m proud to be able to welcome Discharge to the Nuclear Blast family - In crust we trust!" More...

Native Construct Covers Les Misérables Song

After completing a USA headlining run this past summer, progressive metal outfit Native Construct is ready to embark on another North American trek, set to kick off November 18 in Cincinnati, OH. Featuring Between The Buried And Me, Enslaved, and Intronaut on the bill, this tour package is a must-see for all prog music fans.

In anticipation of this upcoming tour, Native Construct has launched a new video today, which showcases front-man Robert Edens' incredible vocal range: a cover of Les Misérables' "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables."

Myles Yang (guitar) comments: "I'm sure you can hear the musical theatre influence in the music of Native Construct. We're big fans of it, and this is a tune from an old favorite of ours, Les Misérables. I did this arrangement for Rob to sing on back in our freshman year of college, just for fun. We did a little recording of it in a dorm room, and that was that.

"Fast forward to a few weeks ago -- our guitarist, Poh Hock, was competing in the .strandberg Guitar Competition. A portion of the competition was decided by popular vote, and we called on our fans for assistance. Turns out we have a great little community going here; we received an outstanding amount of support, and Poh Hock ended up taking first place in the competition. So, as a token of our appreciation, we decided to dust off this old arrangement and make a new and improved version of it for everyone to enjoy.

"We recorded all new vocals from Rob, and he also did a fresh mix and master of the whole thing. And Max Harchik (bass) directed, shot, and edited a video of it all, for your viewing pleasure. Thanks again, guys; hope you like it!" More...
