Bolzer Streams "Hero" Album

Iron Bonehead Productions is proud to present Bolzer's "Hero" album. Officially out now, you can stream the full album below, and Iron Bonehead also comments:

"Hailing from Switzerland, Bolzer is one of the most unique entities the metal underground has birthed in years. For one, Bolzer is proudly and resolutely a duo, using the barest essentials of voice, guitar, and drums and yet creating one of the densest, most world-eating sounds around.

"For another, the duo wisely and patiently parceled out the recordings, with a lone nine songs to date across three records - 2012's 'Roman Acupuncture' demo, 2013's Iron Bonehead-released 'Aura' EP, and 2014's 'Soma' EP - judiciously chronicling the band's evolution into one of the most critically acclaimed metal bands in recent memory.

"And yet, 'critical acclaim' has never been a part of Bolzer's agenda: the commitment is to art alone, but it just so happens that word-of-mouth built organically (and feverishly), especially on the strength of devastating, soul-draining live performances, where Bolzer can recreate every aspect of these records in the flesh.

"And at long last, flesh is given to a full-length album, and it bears the characteristically idiosyncratic title 'Hero.'" More...

Abhorrent Decimation Recording Album

It's been just over a year since Abhorrent Decimation's self released debut "Miasmic Mutation." Having finished writing a follow-up record, the band's guitarists Ross McLennan and William Cooke have gained endorsement from Jackson Guitars and EVH Amplification.

Freshly kitted out, the pair entered the studio to track the sophomore release, coming out via Prosthetic Records in 2017. Full details will be coming soon.

"I've been an official Jackson artist for just over a year but a lifetime fan. Probably stemming from my childhood days collecting posters of Marty Friedman and Phil Collen, etc." comments Ross McLennan. "For the last run of Abhorrent Decimation shows I was using an 'Army Drab' DK2M with Seymour Duncans. It's beyond a shred machine, lightweight and durable too. Perfect when it's paired up with my EVH 5150 III. But for the new Abhorrent Decimation record we all made a conscious decision to move to a lower tuning, which suits the direction and sound of the new material. So with this in mind the fantastic team at Jackson hooked me up with a Jackson SLATHX-3 7 (maple fretboard). Which is perfect for our sound and I'm loving the Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgul - proper feisty tones and different to the typical choice of pick ups for this style of music." More...

Lemmy's Lounge Dedicated At Sunset Grill

Heavy rock legends Motorhead, in collaboration with West Hollywood's famous Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip, have agreed to dedicate their patio to Lemmy Kilmister and re-name it Lemmy's Lounge in memory of rock's greatest frontman.

It is a fitting gesture from the Rainbow, as when Lemmy wasn't touring or recording, the majority of his waking hours were spent on said-patio. There is already a life size bronze statue immortalizing Lemmy at The Rainbow, which attracts fans from all over the world, and Lemmy's Lounge will allow hardcore fans and casual patrons alike to sample the wares and atmosphere that Lemmy loved so much.

To celebrate Lemmy's Lounge, Roxy owner Nic Adler and Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett have kindly agreed to allow the painting of a celebratory mural commemorating the life of Lemmy and Motorhead on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy's Lounge and statue.

Rhe band's management is seeking a local LA muralist painter that is interested in the opportunity to provide services to paint this immortal artwork in celebration of our fallen hero's life. Interested parties should fill the form here. The closing date for submissions is December 24th, 2016. More...

Apocalypse Orchestra Posts Studio Report

Swedish medieval metal outfit Apocalypse Orchestra released the first in a series of video studio reports for the band's upcoming debut record for Despotz Records, which is expected to be released in 2017.

The sextet, who all hail from the Baltic Sea region and utilize non-traditional instruments such as lutes, bagpipes, the mandola and even the hurdy gurdy, have one leg entrenched in medieval times and the other firmly in modern metal.

Apocalypse Orchestra was formed by mult-instrumentalists Mikael (Vocals, guitars, mandola, lute and cittern) and Erik (Hurdy gurdy, mandola, bagpipes, backing vocals) who developed a bond over their mutual love of the unlikely combination of folk music and doom metal. With a foundation of original music and lyrics the duo also decided to incorporate melodies stemming from as far back as the 11th century, the goal was to create a musical homage to a long gone era.

The songs tell stories of plagues, of hell and the senseless acts of war and suffering, all while weaving a romantic era thread combined with the crushing modern metal mentality that only Apocalypse Orchestra can deliver.

Tethra Signs With Sliptrick Records

Blending gloomy doom metal, raging death metal and melodic early 90’s gothic metal tinged vocals, Tethra will be the last nail on your cross! Sliptrick Records announced that the band is the latest signing to the label's roster. The band's upcoming full-length will be entitled "Like Crows for the Earth" and will be released in 2017, with further details expected soon.

Tethra's sound combines death-oriented guitar riffs, melodic hooks, subtle bass lines mix with charismatic vocals courtesy of the versatile frontman Clode, who switches from deep growling to pristine-clean vocals with ease.

"Like Crows for the Earth" reveals how much the band has evolved sonically. Elements such as acoustic breaks, striking solos and Doom-influenced melodies are perfect examples, topped off by Clode’s unmistakable tone (who’s signature screams and middle/high range vocals take us back to the early stages of his musical career).

In terms of song writing, the lyrics have become more intimate, focusing on topics such as loss, solitude and feelings of rejection. The album also deals with social issues, such as mankind’s indiscriminate exploitation of the Earth, metaphorically represented by the crow: if not stopped, this animal poses an undeniable threat to its ecosystem and is bound to destroy all other species.

The album was recorded and mixed by Matt Stancioiu (Labyrinth) at Elnor Studios and mastered by Greg Chandles (Esoteric) at Priory Studios. More...
