Cursed Moon Signs With Hells Headbangers

Hells Headbangers is proud to announce the signing of Cursed Moon. The label issued this statement:

"A one-man entity hailing from the greater Los Angeles area, Cursed Moon is one of the most exciting newcomers the label has come across. Branding itself 'deathwave,' Cursed Moon uniquely combines classic goth-rock from the '80s with early black metal sounds, weaving a witchy atmosphere whilst being grounded firmly in the grit of evil heavy metal. It's a sound that's immediately memorable and positively addicting - and not to mention one that will appeal to a wide variety of metalheads, punks, and other assorted freaks."

"Well, Cursed Moon started last year (2015), when I began the writing process of it during late September," explains mainman Sal "Hellraiser" Yanez. "I was pretty much just jamming on my guitar while I was listening to The Sisters of Mercy and I thought to myself, 'This would actually be fun to play.' So, just for fun, I wrote one song and I was really impressed on how it came out, so then I wrote second song and I also liked it. The style of music I was writing was different; it was something I haven't heard of any band doing."

Yanez goes on to say, "It was some sort of post-punk with an evil twist to it. It had band influences like Fields of the Nephilim, The Sisters of Mercy, and Christian Death mixed with Bathory, Celtic Frost, Amebix, King Diamond, etc. After that moment, I then decided to make it into a real music project and pursue it. That's when the name Cursed Moon was born along with the unique style of subgenre in what I call 'deathwave.' After I had enough songs written, I wanted to go to a legit studio and record them and do them right so I can put out an album. I wrote and recorded all the instruments myself, since this was just a one-man music project. Now, thanks to Hells Headbangers for signing and doing an official album release and for also believing in the Cursed Moon vision, I am currently putting together a live lineup for shows/tours that's almost complete. That is just the beginning in what's to come..." More...

Interview

Monsters And Movies With Lordi's Drummer

Since their inception, Finland's Lordi has become one of the flag bearers for old school heavy metal. Their use of costumes, theatrics and pop culture references has made them a favourite for many who enjoyed the style which was most prominent in the eighties, while others have not warmed to the group quite so much. Over the cource of their career, the band has gained a significant fan base in Germany, the Balkans and the United Kingdom. During their stop in Bristol (reviewed here,) as part of their extensive tour of Great Britain, I was able to sit down and speak with the band's drummer, Mana, with whom I discussed a variety of subjects from their recent album, "Monstereophonic," where they find the most success and why they continue to make such use of the classic heavy metal stage show. Mike IX Williams Seeking Fan Help For Medical Bill

After calling in Phil Anselmo and Randy Blythe to fill in for Mike IX Williams on recent EyeHateGod tour dates, it has been revealed that Mike IX is suffering from cirrhosis of the liver and is in need of a transplant.

To help with the rising medical and housing costs, Michelle Maher-Williams has launched a crowd funding campaign here. Michelle comments:

"On October 10th, 2016, he was admitted to the CCU, vomiting blood. Along with internal bleeding, it was determined that his liver and kidneys were failing. He was placed on life support and dialysis. Through sheer grit and determination, he was eventually able to function on his own. We were told that he would not be leaving the hospital without a new liver. His case was presented before the board and he was approved for the transplant list. He's been hospitalized ever since.

"We can't do this on our own anymore. The expenses are astronomical and overwhelming. Not only has our health insurance nearly tripled, but now we need to come up with our insurance deductible before the transplant occurs. We have a mountain of medical bills that need to be paid to ensure that his transplant isn't delayed. Since we live over an hour away from the hospital, we are required to rent an apartment nearby for 3-6 months after the transplant. His monthly prescriptions cost over $900. Mike hasn't been able to tour and I've taken a lot of time off in order to take care of him, so our income has plunged while our expenses have skyrocketed.

"Please help my lover get a liver! He's fought so hard to get this far. I will post updates as often as possible to keep everyone informed of his progress. If you are unable to donate at this time, please keep us in your thoughts and share, share, share! We thank you all." More...

We went to our manager's house in Southern California - he was away for a week so Damon flew in from Nashville and I drove down from my place in LA and we hung out there for a week. I brought in a bunch of ideas and lyrics and Damon brought in some stuff too. By the end of the four or five days we had ten or twelve solid songs together, which was great. Tenebrae In Perpetuum Releasing "La Genesi"

On January 27th, 2017, alongside vinyl and tape editions of the "Onori Funebri Rituali" debut album, Ordo MCM is proud to present a special collection from Tenebrae In Perpetuum entitled "La Genesi: 2001-2002" on vinyl and CD formats.

As its title suggests, "La Genesi: 2001-2002" collects early work from this ancient (and now disbanded) Italian black metal cult. Like the stench of a crypt opened after centuries undisturbed, the release sounds - and feels - old, strangely breathing life back into the band's first demo, "The Black Flame's Age" from 2001, and the successive self-titled 7" EP a year later.

In that cold 'n' alone year of 2001, Tenebrae in Perpetuum was created to incarnate true and uncorrupt black metal, both in music and lifestyle. Spark the fires once again with "La Genesi: 2001-2002." More...

Diablerie Releasing "The Catalyst Vol. 1"

Thus ends the long and painful wait for Diablerie fans: a full-length album, "The Catalyst Vol 1: Control," is finally ready and will be released on January 27th, 2017 by Primitive Reaction. It contains 47 minutes of Finnish extreme metal with industrial elements. Primitive Reaction also issued this statement:

"Diablerie was originally founded back in the late '90s. The band started out as a symphonic black metal band, but the sound developed further into a more rhythmic and electronic direction. The change happened half by chance. Back then, the tools for composing and recording music quickly were mainly tracker software, where the variety of metal sounds was very limited. During that time, there were some great examples of bands combining electronic and metal sounds, but there was still a lot to discover, so it was a natural choice to just go with what sounded the best.

"Diablerie made a demo called 'Astro,' and it was sent out to a variety of record labels. The demo was picked up by Avantgarde Records, and soon the contract for their debut album was made. 'Seraphyde' was released in 2001, and it was a success and left its mark on the European metal scene.

"Some time after 'Seraphyde,' however, the band members decided to focus on other musical and non-musical interests and Diablerie became less of a priority for everyone. The band as a group of people slowly drifted apart. More...
