Initiated Streaming Full New Album

Today the Finnish hard rock cult Initiated streams the entirety of debut album "World on Fire." The album just dropped November 18th via Svart Records and can be heard below.

Once upon a time, in the not-too-distant past in a small town in southern Finland, Harri Kuokkanen stopped in his tracks, realizing that what the country needed was a proper straightforward heavy rock band that would not shy away from punk rock and heavy metal influences. Clutching his Samhain and Dictators LPs, he took the matter to heart and compiled a group of like-minded individuals, who call themselves Initiated.

Frontman Kuokkanen comments: “We are ready to spread our brand of adrenaline-fueled, sexually-aroused and-arousing, face-spitting pagan heavy rock upon the world controlled by feeble religions and taboos. Let us set it on fire!”

1. Celebrate the Dead
2. Thirst
3. Acts of Flesh
4. The Touch
5. Black Light

Progressive shoegazing? Music of the outer spheres? An irrevocably mentally unstable Gentle Giant and a severely alcoholic Todd Rundgren having a love child which, after being adopted to Russia, finds himself performing a rock opera in the Ural Mountains? Behind the odd band name are four inner space travelers from western Finland. The group has wrapped up work on new album "Ruination," which will be released by Svart Records on February 3rd, 2017 on CD, double LP, and digital formats.

Attacker Releases "Sins Of The World"

The U.S. power metal veterans from New Jersey, Attacker, have come back with their 6th full-length album and follow-up to "Giants of Canaan." Attacker's "Sins of the World" dropped November 18th and is a blistering slice of old school American metal, just a bit more aggressive this time around.

This is the last recording featuring guitarist Pat Marinelli, who co-founded the band with drummer Michael Sabatini and has now decided to step down after contributing a few final solos. There has been a change on the bass player position (Brian Smith replaced Jon Hanemann), while the main songwriter of "Giants...", guitarist Mike Benetatos, now becomes the sole songwriter. Meanwhile, Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas wrote the lyrics and showed his impressive vocal skills once again.

The album cover artwork was painted by Jowita Kaminska-Peruzzi (Exodus, Manilla Road, Attacker, Witchburner, Forsaken, Deceased, Meliah Rage, Arkham Witch, Metal Law and previous Attacker covers).

In 2017 the band will come back to Europe to play a few festival dates, including Pounding Metal fest in Madrid, Up the Hammers in Athens in May, and Headbangers Open Air in the north of Germany in July. More...

Sunday Old School: Lacuna Coil

Italy may not be the first country one thinks of when it comes to metal music, given its warm climate and reputation for being one of the spiritual homes for both football fanatics and dedicated followers of fashion. However, the Mediterranean has produced a number of noteworthy groups such as Bulldozer, one of black metal's pioneers, along with Death SS, Cripple Bastards and Rhapsody Of Fire. The nation also gave the world one of the first metal stars of the new millenium, a Gothic metal band from the famous city of Milan named, Lacuna Coil.

The band was formed in 1994 by vocalist Andrea Ferro and bassist Marco Coti Zelati, under the name Sleep Of Right, recruiting guitar player Raffaele Zagaria and drummer Michaelangelo Algardi soon afterwards. The quartet recorded two demos, "Bleeding Souls" and "Noise of Bolgia" before adding second guitarist Claudio Leo and replacing Algardi with Leonardo Forti. While recording another demo, the group asked friend and singer Cristina Scabbia to perform background vocals, which led to her becoming a full time member. It was also around this time that the group changed their name to Ethereal and attracted the attention of Century Media Records, who offered the band a deal which they accepted, though they soon changed their moniker once more after discovering that a Greek band was using the name Ethereal, settling instead on their now familiar name, Lacuna Coil.
