Slomatics Talks Album Re-Issues, New Material

Newly signed to Black Bow Records (the label from Jon Davis of Conan), Belfast doom outfit Conan is being re-introduced to the metal world with a series of re-issues before a new album drops next year.

Tomorrow we'll be streaming the full re-issue of debut album "Flooding The Weir," but before those sludgy low and slow tunes come your way we also checked in with guitarist David Majury to discuss past releases and upcoming material.

Slomatics aims to reduce riffs to a primal state of heaviness, to produce music that implodes under its own weight but still creates a joyous and euphoric state of wellbeing which can only be obtained with a slew of vintage amplifiers, fuzz pedals, analog synths and an alarming array of percussion instruments. Find out all about the past and future of Slomatics through our interview below. More...

Flummox Reveals "Selcouth" Details

Tridroid Records is pleased to announce the release of "Selcouth" by Flummox on February 12, 2016. Bassist Blake Dellinger said about the album:

"This album turned out a lot heavier & darker than the last one. We've all dealt with all kinds of shit leading up to the recording of this one - everything from mental illness to the loss of friends & family ended up delivering to the overall tone of this album. Which is not to say this album is all dark, brooding, & serious or anything - we are still Flummox after all. This album is not without quirks or humor, even if that too is dark in nature."

Countess Parts Ways With Drummer

Dutch outfit Countess has issued the following statement about parting way with the group's drummer:

"Wolfram joined Countess early in 2014 and played an important part in the band's return to the stage. His invaluable contribution to the band will be missed by all of us. We wish him all the best in the future and trust he will remain part of the Countess family." More...

Barbarian Signs With Hells Headbangers

Hells Headbangers is proud to announce the signing of Italy's Barbarian. The first fruit of this unholy union shall be the band's third album, "Cult of the Empty Grave," which will be released during the first quarter of 2016.

Since 2009, the power-trio has been killing it in the metal underground, culminating in 2014's "Faith Extinguisher" via the Doomentia label. Now, with the backing of longtime fans Hells Headbangers, the true Barbarian is poised to hail and kill, far and wide "Cult of the Empty Grave" shall be the soundtrack to that domination. The album's track listing is as follows:

1. Bridgeburner
2. Whores of Redemption
3. Cult of the Empty Grave
4. Absolute Metal
5. Supreme Gift
6. Bone Knife
7. Remorseless Fury

A statement from the band reads as follows: "Barbarian was formed in 2009, and the lineup has never changed - and that's kinda awesome already - with the core being Borys Crossburn, L.B. Steamroller, and D.D. Prowler. After six years, 'Cult of the Empty Grave' is the album that eventually nails it for us. It sounds very natural and dynamic - no overproduction of any sort, and no loudness-wars madness. The songs have a very distinctive trait, at the heart of heavy metal - raw, natural, and arrogant, because that's the only way we know and we are able to. It's regressive metal because we don't care about what is fancy or whatever. Heavey metal is evil, heavy metal is ugly, heavy metal is threatening, and that's the Barbarian way." More...

Baroness just shared a second song from upcoming album "Purple," due out December 18, 2015. Check out the single “Shock Me” in the player below.

“Along with the rest of 'Purple,' the song ‘Shock Me’ represents the net result of an arduous reformation/rehabilitation process following the release of 'Yellow & Green' and the bus accident that nearly ended us,” said singer/guitar player John Baizley of the new song.

He goes on to say, “We were unsure three years ago whether we’d be able to be at this point again; and while it hasn’t been a particularly easy road to get back, it is truly thrilling to feel that familiar anxious excitement that comes before we release a new album and to put new music out into the world. We treasure these moments of excitement, as they have taken on a deeper level of significance in recent years.” More...
