Dirty Shirt Shares Video Of Hellfest Performance
Transylvanian FolkCore Orchestra Dirty Shirt had an intense summer this year performing on many major European Festivals, which included France's Hellfest Open Air, and today they are sharing with fans their full live set from that 45 min set, which includes tunes off their latest album "Get Your Dose Now!" released this past April.
Mihai Tivadar (keyboards, guitars, main composer) adds:
"As I live in France and I already participated as a spectator in 2019, playing at Hellfest was a dream coming true. Even if the wait was long (since we were confirmed for 2021) and the stress enormous (partially due to the technical problems of the monitor system at the start of the show), being on the Hellfest stage will remain an unforgettable life experience. It was an enormous pleasure to see the Temple filled to capacity, even before going on stage, and still a few thousand people in front of the tent, watching the show on screens. Now I hope to have the chance to return perhaps one day to this exceptional festival, but until then, I am impatient to meet the French public at our next show in France, in December this year and in March 2023." New KK's Priest Album In Mixing Stage
In a recent interview with Danny Stoakes, former Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing gave an update on the status of the second KK's Priest album. Speaking to Stoakes, Downing said:
"It's imminent, for sure. Everything's gonna be sticky-taped and glued together, and we'll fire it out very soon. It's more than well on the way; we're in the mixing process. It's great. I can't wait. It's so frustrating. You just want it out now. But it will happen. So I'm looking forward to that."
KK's Priest released their debut album, "Sermons Of The Sinner" in October of last year. The lineup not only features Downing, but fellow Priest alumni Tim "Ripper" Owens (vocals,) Voodoo Six bassist Tony Newton, Nihilist drummer Sean Elg and guitarist AJ Mills of Hostile. More...
Obvurt Releases New Visualizer Video
Canadian technical death metal trio Obvurt have released their second single 'Versus' from forthcoming new album Triumph Beyond Adversity, due to be released via Unique Leader on 2nd December. You can check it out below.
Obvurt, an amalgamation of the words obvert (to oppose) and hurt (to wound), was created in 2020 as a solo project by Philippe Drouin (ex-Unbreakable Hatred) and remains a compelling lesson in human spirit and perseverance. After being involved in a car accident in 2016, Drouin found himself unable to play guitar, as he could no longer pick due to a severe injury to his right hand. Rather than abandoning the instrument he’d been playing for 15 years, Drouin taught himself to play left-handed, it took three years and an estimated 7,000 hours of practice, under the tutelage of famously ambidextrous shredder, guitar tutor Michael Angelo Batio.
Obvurt's first release, The Beginning (2021) was a concept EP told in six episodes and recorded at Grid Studio in Montreal by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy), featured band members Olivier Pinard (Cattle Decapitation, Cryptopsy) on bass and Samuel Santiago (ex-Gorod, ex-Melechesh, ex-First Fragment) on drums.
Returning in 2022 with their first full-length, Triumph Beyond Adversity, Obvurt offer an intense listen that's not without balance. There are plenty of crushing grooves, technical riffing, blistering drumming, triumphant leads and guttural death growls to be had. Eight tracks of aggressive death metal just fly by, propelled by their own energy and raw strength.
Moving forward lyrically from their previous 2021 EP release The Beginning, which saw Drouin express a lot of his story and feelings from his time in recovery, Triumph Beyond Adversity explores the effects of the global pandemic on the band, right through to looking at the possibility of World War III whilst putting a positive spin on the situation, taking strength from perseverance, defiant in the face of adversity.
