Pit Stories: Cuttin Up Hookers... At A Crime Scene

Its been a pretty wild ride lately for our weekly Pit Stories: there was a crowd that nearly cooked at an overly-cramped Rammstein set, some crazy shroom tripping at the flame-filled CromFest, and a recounting of those terrible 1st show blues.

That ride gets no less wild this week as Infinite Earths checked in with us for a harrowing tour tale!

The band recounts an event during a 2014 live trek where one member was wearing a particularly ironic shirt while finding himself unexpectedly at a crime scene. Infinite Earths recalls the story like this:

It was the summer of 2014 on tour with Mindscar. We just put in a hard day’s night with supporting acts Miridian, and Thoughts Of Redemption in Satellite Beach, Florida at Wynfield’s enjoying a pre-load out beer. During the first quarter of the tour we were accompanied by brother Felix, lead photographer of FXO photography and acting roadie. Naturally, Felix is bumping elbows with me getting a cab tetris’d back into the death wagon when I hear a bloodcurdling scream off in the distance. It came from a motel looking joint just passed an unpurposed field behind the venue.

Inspired by my drunken stupor, I draw the dudes attention toward the clatter. Like a slovenly Freddy waving the Scooby Gang about. I propose we should go check it out, begging the question of what Batman would do. I sauntered off merrily with fuckless abandon and even more so with the more tattooed dudes I convinced to follow. Felix is into the action, a boots on the ground kinda mother fucker, the rest of the guys following his shredded rambo like gumption.

Into the fray, we dashed across the field toward the source of the distress. As we get up to the building we see a door on the top floor of this two story building burst open halting us in apprehension. A woman stumbles out of this room screaming bloody murder as she bumbled toward us and down the stairs. She flopped out onto the parking lot like a surly wounded walrus. Not that she was fat, it was more about the way she did it. “I got stabbed, I got stabbed!” she blubbered from the depths of her aquatic gut.

Devilment Posts Animated Video

Devilment - featuring Dani Filth - will release new album "Devilment II: The Mephisto Waltzes" this coming November 18th via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Today, the band releases a new animated lyric video for the third single "Full Dark, No Stars" (animated by Sophie Bedborough and editing by Sam Scott-Hunter).

"The title for this song is taken from a Stephen King horror anthology, much as the title of our first album was lifted from a book by Clive Barker ('The Great And Secret Show') though there is no correlation between the book and the song, other than it represents a bleak period; a state of wanton depression; an absence of being," Dani recounts. "It is, much like many songs on this album, about regaining the light, the overcoming of demons, and of triumphing over the immense shadow of fear itself." More...

Set And Setting Reveals New Album

Florida outfit Set And Setting will drop third album "Reflectionless" on January 27th, 2017 on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Today you can hear opening track "Saudade" below.

Guitarist Shane Handal gives this insight into the release: "Every album we have done has had a concept to it. With 'Reflectionless' I wanted to be a little more vague. This album is based on the idea that external reality is just a projection of your inner self. The particular 'character' here has no idea who they are, therefore having no reflection."

New album "Reflectionless" was recorded by Ryan Haft (Torche, Wrong) at Black Bear Studios in Gainesville, Florida, and mastered by Ed Brooks (R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie) at Resonant Mastering.

The cover, created by Samantha Muljat (Earth, Pelican), was inspired by the artwork of Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis, as seen on Pink Floyd's album covers.

If you haven't picked up your copy of "The Ordeal" yet, you can sample some new tracks featuring accompanying performances by keyboardist Alan Hankers via a new playthrough video below.

Hankers states, "A lot of what I write as a keyboardist is influenced by my background as a classically trained pianist. While writing the album, my goal was to create a unique synthesized sound that from time to time would subtly allude to my influences of the past. In this excerpt video, you'll hear everything from 19th century style harmony, to dissonant clusters and 'dirty' synths that double guitar riffs." More...

Kivanc Kilicer started his professional music career as the front man of the hard n' heavy band Element in 2007. After composing and releasing two studio albums with the band, he focused on his international solo project Gravity, where he found himself exploring various combinations of contrast tunes and blending them with pure hard rock sound.

He comments: "Unable to contain the everlasting resource of melody and riff inside of me, I couldn't just enjoy listening to and covering music. Therefore I decided composing my own in 2005. My main interest has always been a blend of progressive rock and symphony; both of which require special attention on emotions, balance and clarity."

Kivanc created his home studio in 2010, which took him to a new level of non-stop creation: "It was another level for me where I finally created my first solo tracks at an international scale. A brand new experience, a brand new world." More...

Merciless Terror Calls It Quits

Following the release of the "Vile Extinction" album back in 2013 and a period of inactivity, Merciless Terror is officially calling it quits. The band issued this announcement:

"Unfortunately after 7 and a half years, the day has come for Merciless Terror to no longer continue. The band formed in 2009 as the underdogs in the local Nottingham metal scene, with a hell of a lot of hard work, many line up changes and persistence the band managed to tear stages up world wide with some amazing bands and meet some badass people along the way! On top of that release 2 records globally.

"The new material that was originally written for album number 2 has come along nicely but the decision has been made not to use it for MT as it is a completely different approach and the relentless thrashing death machine should be left as it is in its true form of 'Vile Extinction' which spits utter fucking venom!!!

"Thank you to everyone who supported the band along the way and have gone to our shows, bought merch, drank with us and made this one hell of a journey! You will not be forgotten and we hope our music will not either." More...

Zeolite Issues New Single, Lyric Video

Tasmanian metal maniacs Zeolite have released brand new single "Compulsion": a confronting, powerful statement about human nature and the state of the world.

To celebrate the release of "Compulsion," the band will be touring down the east coast with mates Bury the Kings, you’ll be able catch Zeolite in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide throughout November and December.

The single opens with distortion-heavy guitars growing from nothing before launching into the iconic, intense growls that Zeolite has refined and perfected over their career together.

The song is a statement about the uncertainty, distrust and divide created by the political climate of the world and human nature in general.

"Compulsion is concentric around the perpetual tyranny of man. As with most of our tracks, we write as reflection of society but also parallel to history. In this case the song evaluates the actions of man both throughout history and in our current political climate," said vocalist, Fraser Mainwaring.

For Zeolite, the new song signifies a slight change for the band’s sound, a slight deviation that will see the group broadening horizons and bringing new influences to that table.

"The song really feels like a bridge point for us as a band. There's deliberate but not overwhelming deviation from our previous sound to some much more groove and death oriented," said guitarist, Patrick Haas. More...
