The Doomsday Kingdom Issues Track-By-Track

The Doomsday Kingdom will release mesmerizing debut EP "Never Machine" and invite you to be part of a new doom metal era on November 25th.

Today Candlemass virtuoso and The Doomsday Kingdom mastermind Leif Edling reveals more details about the four new songs. In this second first track-by-track feature, he speaks about "Zodiac City" and "The Whispering" with these comments:

"'Zodiac City' is my interpretation of 'The Zodiac' and what he did in and outside of San Francisco in 1969. I really like this song and alot of people have asked me why it won't be on the album. The simple answer is that I can't have all the EP songs on the album. There is plenty of great stuff on the full length and I can't feature the entire EP there. But it's a cool song, and Niklas does a great job on it. Especially the last chorus sends shivers down the spine!"

"'The Whispering' is a soft ballad, and one of my favourites," he adds. "Wonderful keys by Dr Carl who creates an epic atmosphere on this track. In the future I can definitely see myself re-do the "Whispering" with a full orchestra or do it live in a basement bar somewhere just with an acoustic guitar..."

At Roadburn in April 2017, the band will play a first-ever performance with the recovered Leif Edling live on stage. Don't miss this gloomy happening.

Just For Fun

Heavy Metal Leaf Throws The Horns

Metal memes are a dime a dozen, but (other than Abbath in a forest or a pile of branches being mistaken for a band logo) its not often that nature collides with the metal world.

Some lucky Reddit user came across a leaf that is very clearly throwing the metal horns. You think it heard some folk metal from a passing car or something?

Elephant Bell Signs With Argonauta

Finnish stoner outfit Elephant Bell just inked a deal with Argonuata Records. The label also issued this statement:

“We’re thrilled to start this collaboration, Elephant Bell are a stunning band highly influenced by the first ‘stoner’ era and by bands as Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu, with a touch of grunge-like sonorities as Soundgarden – whereas, moreover, the band features in its ranks our old friend Tomi Mykkanen of Lowburn.

"As for the band, being part of the second wave of stoner rock movement had its highlights. Lots of cool bands like Dozer, Lowrider, Greenleaf, QotSA, Unida, Devillac and new friends, songs and gigs and beers and fun… After releasing a few EPs and playing a few dozen gigs, the band felt ready to record their first album. It was recorded by the band themselves and finally released in digital format in 2011. The album was received very well around the world but it never got a proper release.

"Being part of the third wave of Stoner Rock has its perks too; lots of new friends and bands and labels. And the still lingering interest towards Elephant Bell… So, the band decided to re-mix and master the album and add two previously unreleased songs from the album sessions to it and release it as a proper release. After some discussions the band got in touch with high soaring Italian record label Argonauta Records and finally the deal for the album was made.

This upcoming album was mastered by Karl Daniel Lidén (of Greenleaf and Dozer fame) and will be released in the first part of 2017. More...

Weapons Of Anew Releases Music Video

Weapons of Anew has followed Friday's massive digital release of the track "Killshot" (via OK!Good Records) with a brand new video for the track today.

Filmed at Hammer Hands Gym and directed by Ron Geffen, the hard-hitting clip follows a contentious boxing match between actors/boxers Amber Skyes and Julian Rodriguez, illustrating the song's theme of the struggle between love and hate, interspersed with band in live action also inside the ring.

The video is based on a treatment written by frontman Ray West, who also penned the lyrics for the song. "Ray had written a treatment with a girl beating the breaks off a guy," said bassist Stefan 'Reno' Cutrupi. "Once we met Ron and discussed the concept, all of the pieces kind of just fell into place."

The video was a departure for director Geffen, though, who focuses more of his work on pop and EDM artists. "It was a fun time," he said. "I believe the video depicts the emotions and feelings of the band, and how they are able to put those emotions into words."

"Ron is a hard worker that really hustles, so he and I definitely bonded quickly," guitarist Freddy Ordine said. "Amber is actually Ron's girlfriend and she has a hell of a right hook! She was actually punching Julian in the face with the first punch. Ron now knows not to piss her off!" More...

Gamma Ray Members Form Unity

With latest sensational signing, Hanover record imprint Steamhammer/SPV has set the course for more highlights in the coming year. Unity, the new band founded by drummer Michael Ehré and guitarist Henjo Richter (both Gamma Ray), just signed a long-term contract and is currently busy working on a debut album.

The eponymous titled recording has been scheduled for release in early 2017 and aficionados of powerful hard rock and technically accomplished melodic metal can expect to get more than their money's worth.

Along with their two figureheads, Richter and Ehré, Unity consists of Gianba Manenti (vocals), Stef E (guitar), Jogi Sweers (bass) and Sascha Onnen (keyboards), all of them musicians that many fans have been familiar with since Ehré's band Love.Might.Kill arrived on the scene.

"During many gigs and countless hours in the rehearsal room, Michael and I discovered that we are on the same wavelength, on a personal as well as on a musical level. So we came up with the idea of focusing that part of our creativity that goes beyond Gamma Ray in another band," Richter explains. "Unity features the perfect line-up for that." More...

Trash Deity Premieres Debut Single

It's a new week and all the election nonsense is finally over so life can get back to quasi-normal.

In celebration of that milestone, we're offering an exclusive first look at the visualizer for "Finger On A Trigger" from Trash Deity, and for a limited time you can also download the track for free right here.

Combining the chaos and energy of the classic Wax Trax! Chicago sound updated with hard and modern L.A. production, Trash Deity consists of Groovie Mann aka Franke N. Nardiello (My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult frontman/writer) and accomplished music producer and industrial artist JDN aka John D. Norten (Blue Eyed Christ).

This debut single "Finger On A Trigger" combines classic Groovie Mann vocals and cryptic lyrics with an infectious heavy electronic/guitar groove benefitting from JDN's studio experience mixing and engineering major artists.

The accompanying music video is comprised entirely of manipulated shots of paintings from the twisted imagination and eccentric mind of Groovie Mann. Trash Deity's debut 4 song EP, "Run 4 Your Lies!," will follow soon.

JDN comments: "I think the forthcoming EP is a really exciting representation of Groovie Mann and I experimenting and discovering what our sound is as Trash Deity. It's an eclectic EP because we weren't locked into a sound or expectation from our previous projects. One song is electronic for the clubs with a pounding bass line and signature Groovie Mann maniacal vocal chants, then another is a sexy dirty strip club anthem. Each song has it's own identity, but the EP still sounds totally cohesive and chaotic at the same time...just like us!" More...

Helloween Announces "Pumpkins United" Reunion

Here comes the sensation for all Hellowen fans: You believed in it for years and continued to ask for it – now is the time: In fall 2017, Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen will once again mount a Hellowen stage together and resurrect the band’s legendary original line-up.

Yes, it’s official: Weikath, Kiske, Hansen, Grosskopf are going to play Hellowen classics live and on a joint tour. Massive news. Awesome. Under the flag Pumpkins United all pumpkin heads will step up – meaning Andi & Kiske on vocals, Kai & Weiki & Sascha on guitars, and Markus & Dani in the rhythm section.

The super tour’s first confirmed date is October 28, 2017 in Sao Paulo and takes the full Pumpkins entourage across selected cities and venues in Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the US. An extremely big deal, which, including a few secret surprises, will present almost three hours of the biggest hits from three decades of Hellowen as the band will obviously insist on performing a full-speed trip through the Hellowen repertoire.
