Napalm Death Releasing Split w/Heaven Shall Burn

U.K. grindcore band Napalm Death and Germany's Heaven Shall Burn have teamed up for a very special split 7" EP release.

Entitled "The Mission Creep," this limited vinyl-only split 7" EP will be released on December 11, 2015 via the bands' longtime label Century Media Records and it will include both an unreleased song by Heaven Shall Burn called "Battle Of Attrition" as well as the unreleased Napalm Death track "An Extract (Strip It Clean)."

Heaven Shall Burn comments: "It is a huge honour for us to be releasing this split 7" EP. It not only is the first 7" in Heaven Shall Burn's career, but also shared with a band that has been an influence on all levels of our band's development. Napalm Death have been a constant inspiration and will always remain innovators. We are as happy as young kids, again! Our song 'Battle Of Attrition' deals with the happenings on the battlegrounds of Flanders from more than a 100 years ago and the unfortunately repeating tragedies for all Nations, which are misled into devastating war scenarios."

Napalm Death adds: "Split recordings are a great opportunity to explore something a little different, and with the voice that Heaven Shall Burn have out there in the world, we thought it was a nice route down which to spread our own tentacles of music and ideas. The convergence of ideas between our two bands on the design side of the EP was quite seamless, so as good a meeting of minds as there should be." More...

Etched In Stone Parts With Guitarist

Guitarist Eric Wolford from California-based band Etched In Stone has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the group:

"I must regretfully inform our fans that i will no longer be a part of etched in stone. As much as i'd like to stick around, i am not in a financial position to do so. So with a heavy heart I must say goodbye. It was fun while it lasted!"

Etched In Stone also had this to say about the situation: "Eric is no longer able to continue on this journey with us. It's very financially, mentally, and physically taxing on everyone trying to make a name for themselves during this era in the music industry and we understand his decision. Losing a member is akin to losing a part of yourself as a whole and Eric's service to this group has been instrumental in us becoming what we are today.

"We will continue to press forward and will STILL be performing the upcoming Sworn to the Black CD release show on the 21st with a fill-in guitarist. After being with us for 2/3 of our existence as a band and sharing countless awesome experiences over the last 6 years he has definitely left some big shoes to fill. Raise a glass in honor of his dedicated service with us and join us in wishing him the best of luck on any future endeavors his talents lead him to!" More...

Prong Announces Album Release Date

After a self-prescribed hiatus, 2012 saw Prong blow the hinges off the door with the release of "Carved Into Stone." Seemingly out of nowhere, Tommy Victor and company managed to combine all the previous elements of the band's formula: thrash, hardcore, industrial metal, etc. with a new urgency and angst that struck a deep nerve with the band's loyal fan-base and beyond.

The band marched onwards with 2014's "Ruining Lives," which spawned a number of instant classics. This was followed by Prong's cover album "Songs From The Black Hole."

After a headline tour, it was straight back to the studio for another album. Just days after mixing was completed, Prong went on the road with Danzig and SuperJoint Ritual in North America and released the first single "Ultimate Authority" on the day the tour began.

"X - No Absolutes" is Prong's defining moment, with Tommy Victor mentioning that "sequencing the album was a difficult task; every song is so strong in it's own way."

Again produced by Tommy Victor, this time with trusted collaborator Chris Collier as co-producer and engineer, "X - No Absolutes" also broadens the horizon sonically. The new album will be released through SPV/Steamhammer on February 5, 2016 as digipak (incl. bonus track+poster), 2 LP Gatefold version (coloured vinyl, CD in paper sleeve) and download. More...
