Pentagram Frontman Jailed For 18 Months

Bobby Liebling, frontman and sole constant member of American doom metal pioneers Pentagram, has been sentenced by a court in Maryland to spend eighteen months in prison for abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult, upon completion of which, he will be placed on supervised probation for three years. He was arrested in May for his actions and also charged with first degree assault, to which he pleaded not guilty, though he plead guilty to the charge of abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult, which is believed to be his 87 year old mother. A statement from Pentagram bassist Greg Turley reads as follows:

"2015/2016 were the busiest years ever for Pentagram. New album and a full tour cycle kept us busier than ever and taking us to places we’ve never been and playing bigger shows than I ever imagined. November 2016, Gothenburg, Sweden I knew something was ending, I just didn't know what.... Dealing with Bobby and his reoccurring demons was bringing us all down. Same story from the past, I know. Honestly, I thought Bobby would end up dying before we played another show. Turns out, he didn’t die, just went off the rails and ended up assaulting his mom. Pretty much the worse thing someone could do in my opinion. He assaults the one and only person that has always taken up for him? Wow! Just horrible.

"He’s now serving time in prison. Looks like he’ll be there for the next 18 months. That’s a lot of time to reflect on bad decisions and bad habits.

"The last six months have been quite a ride, continuing on without Bobby was an easy decision. Fans, investments and commitments all needed to be satisfied so we marched on. The positive support we received, especially from those who have attended the live shows has been truly amazing. Sucks to be put in this situation but we've made the best of it and exceeded even our own expectations.

"Don't know exactly what the future holds BUT the music of Pentagram is much larger than the individuals. Just look at the list of people that have been involved!!! Not only have I had the opportunity to be a part, I’m also one of the biggest fans. I mean, I truly never get burned out on these songs, from Forever My Queen to The Ghoul to City Romance to the last note on Curious Volume. I love them all…

"The "Bobby IS Pentagram" argument baffles me. There is and has always been a great team behind him pushing forward. Sorry to disappoint everyone who thinks Bobby steers the ship... I've been fortunate to be the constant for the last 8 years and involved since 1993. There still is an inner drive to move forward and bring the music to whoever will listen. I would love to have Bobby at the front of the stage more than you know, but by his own actions/mistakes, he's removed himself. I've been to see him and keep in regular contact with him and he seems to understand that he "messed up". Now, he's got some time to work out his demons and try to make things right.

"What’s next for us? I look to keep moving forward…Thanks for reading and THANKS for your support.

"Greg Turley Peter Campbell"

My Dying Bride Vocalist Denies Breakup Rumours

My Dying Bride vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe has addressed recent rumours that the band is breaking up after the band were forced to cancel upcoming live shows and some cryptic statuses were posted on their Facebook page. He has issued a statement on the group's official page which reads as follows:

"I would like to quash some recent rumours regarding the demise of My Dying Bride in the light of our previous statements. We most certainly are NOT splitting up and in fact are vigorously composing the next album right now. The reason we have had to cancel a run of shows is due to a severe and fearful illness that has struck a member of my immediate family for which I have now dedicated all my time until signs of improvement. The other five members of the band however are working hard to produce the next opus which will be our debut for new label partners Nuclear Blast and will be released in 2018. I will do my part when the time comes and I can assure fans that it is going to be suitably epic.

"Apologies to all who were looking forward to seeing us perform live but rest assured, we will be back!

Ignis Haereticum Details Sophomore Album

On December 1st, Goathorned Productions is proud to present Ignis Haereticum's sophomore album "Autocognition of Light." The band issued the first single "Glorious Wounds," which you can check out in the player below.

Riding high on the towering immensity of the "Luciferian Gnosis" debut album in 2014, these Colombian occultists now aim for more transcendent heights and fathomless depths with a six-song/41-minute record that serves as one, unified work. Arguably even more towering than its no-less-considerable predecessor, "Autocognition of Light" dazzles and defies with an eerily seamless ease, its iteration of orthodox black metal soundly trumping the hapless throngs of Deathspell Omega worship. For this creation is imbued with true belief and solemn reverence: Ignis Haereticum is a sonic mage weaving spells both terrible and trance-inducing, with the descent into the abyss assured, but surely not the final destination.

The track listing for "Autocognition of Light" is:

1. Glorious Wounds
2. Atonement Of The Faithful
3. Mors Mystica
4. Ekstasis
5. Lifting The Veil

DSease Signs with Sneakout Records

Sneakout Records is glad to announce the signing of Italian newcomers DSease. The band was born three years go from the ashes of a Rammstein tribute band called Kardiod. The label plans to release the band's new album "Rotten Dreams."

The four-pieces combo composed by Alberto Niccoli (Lead Vocals, Bass), Fabio Balducci (Guitars), Gabriele Lasi (Drums) and Massimiliano Pretolesi (Synths), started a new original project which mixes Grunge influences, Electro Rock and Metal music elements. The lyrics of the new songs could be described as introspective and gloomy, while the sound is characterized by an unusual but intriguing mix of distorted bass, synths, scratching vocals, a massive guitar attack and a well focused drumming, perfect to enhance the whole experience included in "Rotten Dreams". The album was recorded and mixed by Fabio Balducci, with the support of the whole band.

"Rotten Dreams" is the result of this unusual and fascinating vision. Despite Gabriele and Massimiliano departures after the recordings, the two remaining members decided to keep the project alive, putting all their inspiration and energy in this artistic experience. The booklet concept is a journey through abandoned and semi-destroyed mental hospitals, while the cover arwtork, made by Agata Borghesan, reflects exactly the path that DSease want the listener to take: the world of "Rotten Dreams" and the illusion of escaping its paths.

Stay tuned for more information, which is expected soon. More...

Krosis Signs With Unique Leader Records

North Carolina-based death metal unit Krosis is the latest addition to the Unique Leader Records roster. The band will release a new full-length release in 2018.

The band issued the collective statement: "We are inexplicably humbled and thankful to be part of a family that some of our favorite bands have been a part of. To have Unique Leader Records see our project as something as worthwhile, original, and significant as we do means more than we can put into words. It is an understatement to say that we are looking forward to our next step as Krosis with Unique Leader Records at our sails."

Krosis was formed in Raleigh in 2014. A group of talent musicians and friends saw an unsatisfactory pattern starting within modern metal music. The diverse collaboration of influences that make up the framework of Krosis is why the band's put out the music that it does. Too much of modern death metal and deathcore is limited to a paradigm; Krosis seeks to eliminate boundaries. With backgrounds of rock, jazz, concert bands, and music theory, the band pulls no proverbial punches in terms of diversity, originality, and heaviness. Each member brings many parts of a musical spectrum and emerge with an eclectic sound that proves appealing to lovers of heavy, themed music.

"We are all about creating new trends, fresh ideas, and even entirely unique genres," the band notes. "Most of all, we're proud to present every track, knowing that we gave our listeners and fans our absolute best. For some, living the dream is being in front of thousands, with lights and cameras aimed at them. For us, it's each simple step along the way, each note and each beat, pouring our mind and soul into every creation, so that you can be a part of the experience with us."

Stand by for further info on Krosis in the weeks to come. More...

Pestilence: Cover Artwork For "Hadeon" Cancelled

Pestilence and Hammerheart Records just issued the following announcement, concerning the artwork for the band's upcoming new release "Hadeon":

"Last week we proudly presented the artwork for “Hadeon”, the new album by legendary Death Metal band Pestilence.
This, in itself, fantastic artwork was created by Triple Seis, a company specialized in artwork for Metal bands (they did many artwork related things before we contacted them) based in Ecuador.
In the past months Patrick Mameli shared his thoughts on what “Hadeon” needed to look like when put into art, and Triple Seis created it.
Hammerheart Records made a contract and paid a pretty decent amount of money to become the owner of this artwork, so we could use it for all releases and products we wanted to use it on/for.
We were very pleased on how this turned out…
Upon its publication we started to receive messages that several parts of this artwork were stolen and copied into this design.
